  1. I am a parent of 2 Kearny Generals football players. My kids have been practicing since the middle of July and some of these kids have been practicing since June in the hot weather. This is a big commitment for the kids and they practice hard and should be commended.

When we got the game schedule, it showed that our last 3 home games were going to be played at Kearny High School and the kids were very excited about that. It's a new beautiful field and the kids deserve to play on it but the other day my kids came home with a note from the Generals stating ................" All of the remaining Kearny Generals Football games will be played at Vets field and not at Kearny High School due to the fact that the Generals are responsible for providing police officers at the High School field and the cost is between 50$ and 55$ per police officer per hour which comes to about 800$ for each day. It is our opinion that this is outrageous and a non necessary expense. We would rather use the money that we save here to purchase supplies for the kids."

My question is, how can we travel to these other "inner city" towns like Orange or Patterson and play on their High school fields? We played in Orange and they had a beautiful brand new turf field just like Kearny equipped with police officers. I just don't understand how my taxes can be so high and I get nothing for it. I also do not understand how the problem is paying for Police officers when there are no Police officers when we play at Vets field. I feel that the town should be donating a Police officer and even have a paramedic on the field just in case one of our kids get hurt.

That all being said, I just don't feel that the town is totally to blame for this. I also feel that alot has to do with a departing Generals President and crew. The president has been non existent this year and I feel that is because he doesn't care because this is his last year. Lat year he was in the stands talking to the parents about all that he and his crew have done and bought for the program. This year you can barely find him. There has been no mention of "canning" like we did last year to make money for the program, the fundraiser was a joke and I guarantee there is no money to pay for Police partly because of this. We were able to play on the High School field last year so why not this year ?

All in all I just feel that the kids deserve to play on the high school field because they have worked their butts off this year and should be rewarded. What your getting for $ 55.00 per hour is OFF duty officers. These officers are on their scheduled days off. The fee would be the same as hiring a private security firm. The KPD officers you see doing traffic control for construction projects around town are doing the same thing. So stop your whining or pay the fee.

  2. Well, from what I read, overcrowding is so bad that while they're waiting for that new addition to KHS to be built, they're going to use the church as an annex, which is going to provide six classrooms.

Personally, it seemed a bit underwhelming. I mean, six classrooms is really not that many classrooms, and it seems like a long way to go considering the kids having to walk from one building to the other (and if the schedule hasn't changed recently, there are still only five minutes between periods in a school day at KHS--needless to say, that's another problem).

It just doesn't seem worth all the work it takes to set up. Apparently they're going to have bells and an intercom system and stuff to communicate with the 'main school.' All this work seems like it'd be put to better use on that addition so that it's done sooner, don't you think?

In my opinion the Kearny BOE should just build the new addition on the Football field. As we all know KHS football is a losing operation, Lets put the field to good use.

  3. Someone was whining on another topic that the media only heard our side of the story in the proselytizing teacher case. To them, that explains why the news coverage was all in our favor. While I appreciate the admission that the coverage was all in our favor, which it was, the explanation simply is not true.

But if you think it is, do something about it instead of whining. A documentary film maker is filming on this story right now, and has been looking for people to speak in support of Paszkiewicz. That's because so few are willing to come forward. Here's your chance. Set the record straight. Strike a blow for justice, mom, apple pie, God and his humble servant. Let me know how the film maker can reach you, and I'll put you in contact with him.

Put your money where your mouth is, or prove yet again that your side has nothing to offer.

Hey Paul enough already. Your personal agenda against the Kearny BOE is getting tired. Why don't you run for a BOE seat, but I'm almost willing to wager that once Matty graduates from Kearny High we won't be hearing anymore of your whining.I got an idea Paul why don't you try helping the people of Kearny with our tax burden or the parking issue. You know all of those out of state plates parked on our streets? 95% of them are breaking the law in regards to MV registration law 60 days and all. Or is that to difficult for you.

  4. What are the laws in Kearny regarding people having fires in their yard? Are fire pits or chimineas legal? Can someone use their BBQ as a fire pit? I have smoke coming into my house and I did already speak to my neighbors about it. They are being quite inconsiderate about this. And no I am not shutting my windows...I shouldn't have to.

Open fires in the town of Kearny are illegal, such as burning leaves. While I believe chimneys are legal, you may want to contact the town fire marshall or inspectors office. As for the smoke try contacting the Kearny board of health if they can't help. Try the KPD or Kearny Municipal Court, you can always sign a complaint that your neighbors are creating a nuisence and have a judge order them to stop

  5. On any given day you can drive up and down Kearny's main streets and side streets and find cars -- the same cars, parked here day after day after day -- that are registered in other states, presumably so the owners pay less insurance. Isn't this illegal? And isn't this forcing the rest of us to pay higher insurance premiums? Why don't the cops go after these people who park their cars on public streets night after night and clearly live here but have out-of-state tags. Why isn't there any enforcement over this?

Your right this issue is a problem. Some mornings I wake up and look out the window and wonder what state I live in clearly it's New Jersey but from the amount of out of state plates I'd swear it's another state. If you call the KPD and complain about a certain plate and can prove that the owner has lived in NJ for more than 60 days then the KPD has to issue a Failure to register summons to the owner of the offending vehicle. Mayor Santos has told me these vehicles belong to Kearny residents and that does'nt concern him. I've contacted DMV offices in some of these states, while one or two will suspend the registration of the offending vehicle most have told me to contact the NJDMV. Now NJ has told me to contact the local police to deal with this issue. The only clear cut solution to this problem would be to issue town wide parking permits. With all showing proof of residency via vehicle registration and or drivers license.

  6. #1 That would make sense, if the camera was pointed at the persons door.

#2 It is "considered" an invasion of privacy to tape anyone without their knowledge or consent.

#3 Prying- According to you, we should not pay mind to other people's doings, and let them do as they wish. PS i suppose you are one of those people who ignore devious people.

#4 Isn't the person who has their camera facing at a direction other then their own house considered to be prying on others?

Your #2 is wrong you know, It's only an invasion of privacy to tape someone in their home. I have security camera's on my apartment building and the last thing I did was notify the tenants. Inside your home is private, but in public your fair game. Same as recording a conversation as long as your party to that conversation you don't need anyones permission or consent. That NJ state law.

  7. You people are obtuse.  I never suggested porta johns I am even apposed to them.  I suggested a small attractive multipurpose building.  Picture a bathroom/changing room with a shaded area for kids and parents to eat or play.  Whit today’s advances in security they could have 24/7 cameras.

A building such as this would greatly improve safety for our kids and parents.

Who's going to pay for this thing, or pay for the upkeep. A CBG would be great if you can get the DCA NJ to give you one. I for one do not want to pay for this thing through tax's. First my kids don't use Manor park, Secondly my family pays enough in town tax's. Your kids use the park then YOU put up the first $1000.00. then we'll talk

  8. <_<  Are you serious? The kids in this town have been using these parks forever, and if they go before they leave the house then thats it, we never had a porta potty in a playground, we used a friends house or ran to the gas station, you better move back to the town you came from if you want toilet facilities in the playgrounds, or send your child down to the oval, to play. I mean if you want to foot the bill then I say whatever, but don't ask the town for a porta potty that someone could get raped in or mugged in. Thats all we need in town more things for the youth of this town to destroy!!

Raped or mugged?. No I think our young vandals will tip over the porta sh*tter. Do that 2-3 times and the company will permantly remove the plastic commode.
  9. Parking's just as bad on Devon street. It really pisses me off when these illegal immigrants (and yes, I do know they're illegal) with out-of-state license plates take up every spot on the block with multiple cars, leave them there for days, and rip up any tickets the accumulate. I don't care what their status is, but if they're going to live here, and going to take up all the spots, they've got to get NJ plates, and actually get insurance.

Your right about Illegals and out of state plate's, while not all are illegal's. Recently I had a tenant move out of my building he was illegal with Pennsylvania license plates. He got caught in Garfield making an illegal right on red. No insurance, registration or drivers license. On the same note I have Brazilians who live up the street who have 2 cars both with NY plates, last year they bought a new car and had it registered NY.The KPD does in fact consider this to be a non priority. In contact with the NJ DMV I was told that the local police must issue the ticket for failure to register. I say their not residents of Kearny but merely visitors taking up our parking spaces. This is evident by their own actions of registering out of state this statement say's I Do Not Live in NJ. The Town of Kearny need's to issue these drivers permits allowing them to park only between the hours of 10:00pm to 7:00am. Leaving all real Kearny residents with parking.

  10. I just read the Observer and was outraged by the article about the K H S student that was found guilty of sexually assualting another child another child who is mentally challanged this low form of life only recevied 3 years probation and the article stated that he could be alllowed back in school. I was sick when I read that. I hope and pray that who ever this student is ....they DO NOT ALLOW him back in the school. My heart goes out to the family that has to go through this no one should have to live with this.

Compared to what the students at KHS are going to do to this kid, I'll bet he wishs the judge sent him to Jamesburg kiddie jail. If nothing else that little bastard should have to register as a sexual predator under Megans law.

  11. Wont do you any good to call the Kearny Board of Health, that part of the park is Harrison, aside from the fact that it is a COUNY facility, not owned by either town.

Actually just call the Harrison police department or the Harrison board of health. As far as park enforcement is concerned since the demise of the Hudson County police department, the Harrison police cover the park from Devon st in kearny to Schulyer ave, while the KPD gets from Devon st to Kearny ave.Failure to clean up Defecation by a domestic animal carries a $500.00 fine in west hudson park.

  12. Does God recommends also that we allow our rights as a Chritian to be taken alway from us a little at the time?

To be honest with you, Christans in general are allowing people like the LaClairs to take our freedom alway from us.

Not to long ago we could pray in our schools, what happen to that?

It was taken alway from us.In all fairness do we pray just the christain or do we do a christian prayer, followed by a muslim,Hebrew, Buddist prayers?

Not to long a go we had the right to have our Bibles in school? If I'm not mistaken that is not allowed anymore either. There's nothing written saying a child cannot carry their bible in school. They just cannot read it outloud or form a bible study group in school.

Can anyone wear a cross pendant to school? Probably not, because it might offend someone.Still legal it's called Jewelry

Been a Christian does not mean you have to sit back and allow people to step all over your rights, and have to say thank you when they are done.

If we continue on this path, we might as well close our church doors and give up. Because people will not take us (Christians) serious.

Keep your religion out of the schools, you want to pratice do it on Sunday or Saturday on your time on your dime.

I'm not recommended that people treat this boy bad or do anything to him, because that is not right either. In fact I do ask that people pray for him and his family. I ask the people will show him kindness.

But we can not be a lukewarm Christians either.

  13. you are WRONG WRONG WRONG! just ask your mom or dad"that is if they are 45 or older! our history is GOD MADE! the rule of law is from the bible!!!you are what comes from taking GOD OUT OF SCHOOL! you need just look at the bilds in wash/dc to see just how much!!!! :excl:

Laws are made by man not god. As for the bible the number 1 best selling book of short stories for the last 1700 years. Fiction that is since none of you christians can prove any of it.

  14. What's coming down and what's going up?

My understanding is that everything from James Farm market to Ozzie Ford is coming down. Established business's will be shuttered and the buildings torn down to make way for a PC Richards, Chili's resturant and another yet to be named store. I also understand that the parking lot in front of KMart will also be developed for another yet to be named store.

  15. :D PAUL I NEVER SAY THIS TO ANYBODY ON THIS SITE "BUT FOR YOU I WILL {YOU ARE SCUM AND KEARNY WILL BE SORRY FOR THE DAY YOUR WERE BORN} I HOPE THE NJ BAR SEES THIS FOR WHAT IT REALY IS AND DISBARRS YOU! ALSO YOUR SON WILL PAY THE PRICE FOR YOUR SCAM! HISTORY PROVES ME RIGHT ON THIS JUST ASK THE ****** KIDS!!! ALSO YOU FORGET YOUR IN KEARNY YOU BETTER THINK HARD ABOUT IT IM TALKING ABOUT THE TOWNS HISTORY WITH TROUBLE MAKERS LIKE YOU!!! :excl:

KOTW Note: The above post was edited for content.

The last part of your post kinda sounds threatning. Kearny has a history of taking care of trouble makers? Thats a joke right it must be. I've lived here for 43 years. Tell ya what why don't you stick to Florida's problems and leave Kearny to the people who live here.

  16. I find it interesting that in this weeks Observer there is a photograph of Matthew Laclair standing in front of a Christmas tree. The accompanying article stated that Matthew was  not a Christian and that this parents have found themselves less involved with the church.  Why the tree? Why celebrate Christmas if you are a non believer?

    Hypocrisy!

The christmas tree is yet another example of a pratice stolen from the Pagans. I'm a Wiccan and yet I have a decorated tree in my home, I also don't celebrate christmas I do celebrate Yule December 21 2006 while the majority of my family is christian I celebrate december 25 for them. Christians throughout history have stolen many Pagan holidays aka ritual days. Examples being the Yule log, Yule, Santa Claus, the Christmas tree, decking the halls with boughs of holly is a pagan ritual. The Easter bunny and the Eggs revolve around Paganism. you took all hollows eve a very solemn day in paganism and turned into a day of teaching your kids to be greedy and beg for candy

  17. Just don't hit any of them on your way home from the bar at 2am.  Maybe there should be a Curfew/DWI checkpoint on the side streets.

That would work for me if I hung out in bars, however I have better things to do like spend time with my family also i don't drink and drive ever. I do like the idea of putting a DWI checkpoint on Johnston Ave though. The liqour store down here will be open til 1:00am, betcha the KPD could pop a bunch of em

  18. i back what you say to a point! he did NO WRONG! and the courts are going to recall that stupid rule they made! it was not the LAW! if you looked at fox news over the weekend you will see why its going to be overturned!also most all the posting done here have been by NON KEARNY FOLK! that is they NEVER OR NEVER WILL LIVE IN TOWN! they are all from "1" group! and do not talk for people of KEARNY! B)

Sorry olfart. I was raised and still live in Kearny. Mr. P is nothing more than a goose stepping jackbooted evangical christian neocon who belives in fairy tale land. The dinosaurs were on noah's ark come on who's he kidding. Mr P is 2 steps short of being in the same league as the Westboro Baptist Church crew. If Paskewiscz is so innocent why does'nt he open his pie hole and make a statement in his defense. This guy gives Baptists everywhere a bad name

  19. Personally, I think a curfew is a great idea, BUT that it shouldn't be legislated...I'm tired of seeing people wanting to pawn off the duties of parenting to government and legislation. Instead of starting the 'there oughta be a law' rant, I say parents should be more on top of what their kids are doing, and doing more parenting. It is not the cops' job to make sure your children are home at night.

I agree with you, we should'nt have to create a law such as a curfew. However as I stated as of late I have seen minors wandering the street on the south end of Kearny at 2:00 am. Either the parents don't care, have no clue, or their working nights and have no idea where their children are or what their doing.

  20. The Kearny Avenue vacant storefront watch as a result of Walmart opening in Kearny has begun. Mayor Santos has thrown business owners under the bus when he gave approval to allow Walmart into Kearny. The count has started we have (5 empty store fronts), to start this sad time in this terrible mistake made by Mayor Santos.  To be continued!!!!!

Buy a clue please. Stores have gone out of business before WalMart came to town and stores will continue to close after.Thats the nature of business. On the south end of town Harrison Photo closed, now a deli is opening in it's place, The hiring hall closed and now it's an Italian American Club. Stores come and go.

  21. So you're ok with the setting up, leading questions, and recording without permission?

As a former KHS student, I must support what Matt did. While I had no history teachers that promoted religion in class and Mr. P was a mere child when I graduated. I did have a teacher who used his classroom as a political platform for his own future career in politics. I recall this teacher asking by a show of hands how many parents would be voting for him and how many would'nt. I wish back then I had the same courage to come forward and say somthing. As for the recording by Matt, he did nothing wrong I'm sure Paul has made this clear and I shall also for all those who don't listen. Matt did nothing illegal in recording the class without " Mr. P " permission. A quick google search for NJ wiretapping laws will explain all. As long as Matt was party to the conversation no consent to record is needed. Just the same as if you and I were having a conversation I could legally record that conversation without your knowledge or consent.

  22. Back in the 1980's Fox news channel 5 started the catch phrase " It's 10pm do you know where your children are", Today's catch phrase should read " It's 2am do you care where your children are". It's become apparent that while the majority of the area's parents do in fact care about their childrens whereabouts, there are still those parents that either have no clue or just don't care that their kids are " Hanging out" at 1am - 3am on Kearny's side streets. There is no reason why any child 14 - 17 years old should be on the street at this hour. I have seen an increase in this behavior over the course of the last month on the south end of town. I remember at one time Kearny having a curfew it was either 10pm or 11pm. The curfew was mainly enforced on Kearny ave only it's high time the KPD start enforcing this on the side streets.

  23. It's really sad...this 16 year old practically spits on our "Pledge of Allegiance" while many of our fathers were at war at his age...my 87yr old father is still haunted by what he faced while at war-kill or be killed-so he had no choice but to kill --then he took that young mans wallet out and saw pictures of that 17 year old's family and he was devastated. My dad had to live with that for the past 70 yrs and still breaks up when he speaks of it. Kids today, my 16 year old included, and many adults, I think...don't realize what our fathers and their family, went through for this country.so we could be free...but not free to turn our backs on it....Matt LaClair is free today because of our fathers..and he is free to leave this country if he does not agree with what we stand for!

    1. So Matt does'nt want to stand for the " Pledge of Allegiance" thats his right. How many of your childs classmates including yours pledges correctly. Does your child stand at attention placing his/her right hand over thier heart, how many say the pledge loud and clear and not mumble their way thru it.Before critizing any child over the Pledge of Alliance make sure yours is correct. Those with the " love it or leave it mentality" are also free to leave at anytime.

  24. Religion at no time belongs in a public school, and neither do tape recorders.

    Both were dead wrong!.

Can't believe the attention it drew. Well I guess I should not consider FOX news attention.

Since it's not illegal to bring a tape recorder into the classroom, you may want to check out NJ wiretapping laws. Since LaClair was party to the conversation he has every legal right to tape record the teacher without his knowledge or consent.
