We increased the length of the page which will in most cases generate only one scroll bar. On some topics, you will get two scrolls bars (nested scroll bars).
Let us know if there are other items you'd like to see or get fixed.

I like the look of the new website. The only thing I don't like is the Forum in the new website. Having the forum in its own scroll box when the webpages is a seperate scroll box makes scrolling very uncomfortable, constantly having to scroll the inner page and the whole page. Anyone else have the same issues?
Other then that, I like the site.
Thanks for the compliment and your input. We have increased the size of the window to avoid the double scroll. It's not a perfect solution but for now it will help in most cases.

KOTW has had quite a lot of local discussion lately. But there have been times when there would have been no discussion at all if not for the non-local discussion. That might not sound like such a terrible thing, but if discussion dwindles to zero, users soon stop checking for new posts. After that, if someone does post, few will see it, and fewer will respond. Very possibly none at all. Many message boards die that way.
Correct. This board is open to all discussions. Let us not forget that KOTW is approaching its 10th year anniversary.
KOTW is working on an updated website incorporating this Discussion Board into our main website and providing the ability for our members to contribute to the main site by writing Articles on local and national issues.
KOTW wants to thank all of our members and guests for their contributions throughout the years. An open Discussion of all issues is our goal. We strive to provide the latter everyday. Some days are better than others.

I do not believe this for a second. Offering Town Hall as a source for a ride to the polls, I am pretty sure, would be a violation of the law. Whether you agree with Al Santos or not, he is too smart to do something that foolish.
KOTW, you know I like what you do but I'm calling you on this one. You withheld an anonymous allegation about a BOE member being drunk but posted an anonymous allegation of something Mayor Santos allegedly said. How do you justify that, especially considering the well-known proclivities of certain groups and individuals to make things up?
I hope you will consider revising your site to require people to post under their real names. That is the essence of democracy. That is what I hope you will do.
Mayor Santos is an elected official. The Board member is also an elected official but the personal nature of the conduct necessitated the edit. Besides, who would believe that Mayor Santos would instruct a town employee to organize a Get Out The Vote (GOTV) operation at the taxpayer's dime. If the senior resident needed a ride to the polls, Mayor Santos would have written her name, address, and phone number and given it to his volunteer GOTV coordinator to make sure she got a ride on Election Day.

KOTW is working on a story on the arrest of an ex-con who was arrested today for the murder of Xavier Egovail. Kearny Police arrested John DeRosa, 51, of Bloomfield today and are looking for a third suspect Edmir Sokoli, 23, of Bloomfield both charged with murder.

Because what you stated may not be true. Paul LaClair is a member registered under his real name. If you register as a member under your real name you will be given the same courtesy. KOTW prides itself in not editing posts but on occasion it is necessary.

Breaking news: A Bloomfield man was arrested for the felony murder of jeweler Xavier Egovail. A citizen recognized the getaway car and called the Kearny police.

In case you missed it, here is the blurb from The Observer:
August 19, 2009 (Kearny NJ) A reliable source has advised us that Frank Digesere, the current Bloomfield School Superintendent has resigned to take the Superintendent's position in Kearny.
It appears that Digesere will have a contract spanning three and a half years at a salary of $195,000 plus increases of 3.5 percent each year for the balance of the contract.
Digesere made $188,000 as the Bloomfield Superintendent. Digesere reportedly quit Bloomfield because he had several heated confrontations with Board of Education members over the past year.
Digesere was the former Kearny High School Principal before leaving Kearny and becoming the Superintendent in Bloomfield.

It never surprises me when a former teacher or principal finds a way to stay on the town's payroll when they should have retired already. This is fine, of course, especially when the individual is qualified enough. However, when somebody with job security in this tumultuous, thin market leaves a fine position for one that is simply more convenient (inevitably usurping that position from somebody in the educating community he was once a part of) it is not okay. Am I the only person who feels that Digesere is screwing over the person who is rightfully entitled to this position? It is not as if the second best choice gets to replace Digesere in Bloomfield, surely lacking any pull in that community. This is pure GREED on the part of the former principal. Thank you Observer for disclosing his salary. I think it's important for the public to know how much a retired music teacher banks.

The Kearny Police Department has released a sketch of the shooter of Xavier Egoavil who was shot and killed this week during the course of robbery of Rachel's Jewelry on Kearny Avenue.

Actually, I wasn't assuming anything. I presume you refer to these two statements: "The fact that Governor Corzine has not signed up with KOTW does not suggest that he is not interested in Kearny. The fact that Christie has only shows that he is trolling for votes."
The first statement does not say that Corzine cares about Kearny, only that his absence here does not suggest he doesn't. The second does not say that Christie is only trolling for votes, only that his presence here doesn't necessarily mean anything else. I posted in response to what I thought was a poorly thought out suggestion by the administrators. (Sorry, guys.)
I won't deny my ideology, as I am a Democrat and will almost certainly vote to re-elect the Governor. However, I do deny that my ideology is blind. It is more along the lines of "can't stand current Republicans" than "am infatuated with Democrats."
Good post, though. I wish we saw more thoughtful posts on this forum.
The "administrators" aka KOTW suggestion was a humorous attempt to have Corzine join KOTW on Twitter. Apparently, Corzine's Twitter person is asleep at the switch. As you painfully know, KOTW allows all views to be expressed. We try not to edit any post. So, why hasn't Corzine's Twitter person hit the follow button.
