Very disappointed in only one part of your article. When you mentioned something about only Doyle and McDonough being there... if Kearny on the Web had watched the full speech,
(which can be seen here) you would notice Santos among other politicians are present.But KOTW is dead on right about hosting such an event on a Monday morning at 10AM. I didn't even know it was going to happen until about 20 mins before. I would have made arrangements to leave work to attend.
I also am upset we don't get to see the rest of the public question and answer period. I heard some other people spoke and I would like to see what they and the governor had to say about those issues as well.
Thank you. KOTW has updated our home page with the fact that Mayor Alberto Santos and some of the councilmembers were present at Governor Chris Christie's Town Meeting in Kearny.

I agree, I have posted several things also and they were not been posted and I am not an a**hole either. Whatever happened to freedom of speech? Does it not exist in Harrison? I guess not on the web anyway. Funny how you can post anything you want on Facebook and it is allowed but not here. HMMMMM, whats wrong with that? And the Observer can post peoples arrests but you cannot mentioned them here because that is not posted also. Why is something that is published in the local papers not allowed to be commented on this website Mr. Moderator whom ever you are. Unless you are a relative of the criminals.
KOTW has not failed to post "several things". KOTW prides itself with providing a forum where local issues can be discussed without censorship. However, on occasion we do need to edit posts and on occasion delete posts entirely. We try to do the latter sparingly if at all.
If you look at the Discussions throughout the years, you will see that KOTW attempts to be neutral so that our Members and Guests can discussion issues openly and fully. We may not always agree with the poster but we recognize the importance of allowing everyone to express their viewpoint.

So KOTW, what's the point of having a link feature that doesn't work and removing all the links?
Those interested in the facts about how the US is falling behind in education should consult the OECD PISA 2009 database.
The link was removed because KOTW could not find the website the poster was attempting to link to. If you have the correct website link, please post it. KOTW tries not to approve posts with bad links. We usually correct the link when the error is obvious but in this case it wasn't.

With Hurricane Irene approaching, KOTW has decided to attempt to us this board to provide updates to local residents on storm conditions including flooding, power cables down,fallen trees, and other storm related information.
KOTW will post updates on this thread from members of the community so long as our power remains on and we are able to access the internet. The Harrison Weather Station has the storm hitting the West Hudson area with winds of 60 mph and gusts possibly up to 90 mph. That is a significant storm.
We hope everyone remains safe. Please report any flood conditions, fallen trees, power cables down on this thread.

I don't see what anyone has to criticize Lisa Schlago. You're just criticizing her because she's on the BOE - you haven't really come up with a specific complaint. Until I feel she (or anyone else) has abused their office, I'll appreciate their willingness to do what needs to be done and I'm not willing to do myself.
Please note that a Guest did post information critical of Lisa Schlago which was specific. That post has not been released because KOTW has not confirmed the information.

Registering is automatic. The system sends you a confirmation email and once you respond to it you are registered.
Please advise what username you used and we will check the status.
If there is a problem with the automated registration system, we will look into to correct it.

Not at all. You mistake my meaning. What I AM saying is that people need to THINK before some of the things they post. You can type your OPINION..all day long, However, when you post "John Doe is a crook because X,Y,and Z, without anything to back that up, or do the same for a business, you then delve into the realm of Libel and Slander, which puts the SITE in jeopardy. People are always bitching about how long it takes for posts to appear, or that posts never do so at all. This is BECAUSE of the stupid crap they post, which puts the site owner in jeopardy of being sued. If you want to "Call a Spade a Spade" then Do so..but have the guts to put YOUR NAME TO IT. There are a few posters here who do so, but the majority of the Crap-slingers dont. The poster after you is a Prime Example. I post on my own time from my own home, therefore, his/her "You should spend more time addressing Criminal Activity" is Null...Although if HE is paying, i'd be more than happy to accrue the Comp Time to come in to work

In THAT I agree, this forum is a joke. Unfortunately that is also the nature of forums of these types. A perfect example is the user who wont even come up with a Screen name who was ranting in both the Harrison and Kearny Forums about how the firefighters were "Scared" of him because nobody approached him at the Parade. Nevermind the fact that thousands of people were there, and thos Choad never bothered to ID himself...people were supposed to recognize someone from a Forum who posts as a "Guest". The Site owner has only 2 real options. Heavy moderation, and checking each post, as is done here, or, a Requirement for registration, so that, when someone does cross the line, the Site owner has something more than just an ISP to hand over to the attorneys. As for "Going to the deli to Gossip" there you run into that whole Coward aspect again..to do so would mean they'd have to speak their mind where people could SEE them..and own up to what they say. I'll answer the inherent question in your posting name. Never, unless KOTW goes the route of requiring everyone to register, and adhere to a Code of Conduct as most forums do today. Even then you WILL have your assorted trolls and Morons who will make accounts just to play Monkey in a Cage and Fling Crap, but that would also require a much heavier investment of time then the current owner seems willing to spend on the site.
You have summarized it. KOTW's policy of attempting to not edit posts dates back to 2003. Just this week (see our front page) film maker Vic Losick released his documentary film, In God We Teach. KOTW's non editing policy back at the time of the LaClair Paszkiewicz controversy resulted in many posts critical of Matthew LaClair's actions. Ultimately, a New York Times article linked to the KOTW discussion board and many individuals posted in support of Matthew LaClair and provided valuable discussions on the issues surrounding the controversy. KOTW welcomes open discussions but does find itself spending more time editing posts of late.
Your post, although long, does capture KOTW's feelings on being the moderator of late. KOTW however believes strongly in the power of the internet to continue our democracy and will continue to do our best to keep this board updated and a meaningful source of information about our community.

I formally apologize to the moderator for comments I had made in a post under oxycodone. I realize that saying to, "grow a spine," was not appropriate and that it is not the moderators responsibilty to inject his views into the posts but to rather to conduct his web site in an unbiased manner. Thank you.

I see the moderator has stopped any postings of anybody that has a disparing word against any fireman but continues to let them target anyone they choose. I figured out a long time ago that the moderator was an employee of most likely Harrison, maybe Kearny, at a six figure job and was being told what he can and cannot post and what names, positions or activities of questionable moral terpitude can never be exposed. If not, no more six figure job for the moderator by the Mayor and council. It has become apparent that he favors certain groups, in this case the fire department. I questioned why there was NO drug testing for any one other than the cops for a long time, over and over. I never got a reply, NOT ONCE. I persevered and was called stupid names, the subjects were changed, but the issue was NOT to be addressed on this forum as ordered, I imagine. I wonder how many other residents were also concerned about drug activity in town and had their articles NOT posted? I would think quite a bit!! They even reward the fireman with a pension for life as high as $75,000.00 a year for using or distribution of drugs. Thats a great example for the kids. OMG.
The town employee who was arrested was not from a fire department, but it does go to show you what's really going in the town that has no crime. We don't need the cops, right? None of those thousands of pills sold were bought in Harrison, right? Mr. Moderator will now say it's my web site and if you don't like it too bad. Why don't the moderator grow a spine on this issue and let the residents persist and get answers as to why selective groups or individuals are being purposely excluded from drug testing? Is there drug use in the high school? Damn right there is, but this invasion of privacy crap from the teachers, fireman, etc. sets the pace of," we will not be tested." Nobody but the moderator will ever read this, I'm now realizing that, but you should have a conscience as towards the way the High School kids go, which should be AWAY from drugs if you haven't figured it our yet. Concerning the arrested, a felon similar to Tanski who stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from the residents but was given an enormous pension, your master, the Mayor will say, " he had a heart of gold," remember that one, and transfer him to another dept. THAT would never be posted. Make sure that you make your contribution to the FMBA but don't post anything about that EVERYONE on the town payroll undergoing random hair follicle drug testing INCLUDING the Mayor and Council. We wouldn't want to have the kids thinking that drugs are bad, testing could get a relative or friend fired. That is much more important to protect. Disgracefull.

There are a number of posts by you and others (mostly you) that have not been posted. Some of them contain information that has not been confirmed, or is inappropriate or simply too complex to edit with our limited resources. Frankly, KOTW is tired of editing and/or reading posts about the same topic over and over again. I am sure our readers are as well. Simply put, we got your point already. Give it a rest.
As we previously pointed out, it's a free country. You can set up your own website, anonymously or under your own name and post all the information you think appropriate. As it stands, you are posting as a guest, not even as a Member under an anoymous name, and you expect KOTW to just post whatever you put up. That is unrealistic and naive. KOTW has existed for over ten years and this board contains posts dating back to 2003. Our guidelines for posting have not changed. KOTW fosters open discussions but there are limits.
You urge KOTW to "get a spine". KOTW suggests that you follow your own advise and set up your own website under your own name so you can post all of your thoughts and opinions there. KOTW will allow you to post a link through this discussion board to it.

Gotta say I have no idea what post you are referring to but sure would like to see it just to get an idea of what exactly set you off.
But after reading your other posts and vague references to seemingly non-existant newspaper articles it is entirely within the realm of possibility that all of this exists entirely in your imagination.
If you think someone is censuring you maybe you should go back and read over your previous posts and count the four letter words then compare your total number to that of all the posts on KOTW don't forget to tally up your threats as well.
I'm sure you will find that you are within a league all your own.
In allowing your outbursts to be posted the Moderator is merely allowing you to show your true colors and thereby providing you the means to strip your own self of any shred of credability you may have imagined you had.
Again with all your advanced learning and degrees this is the best you can do?
I have no choice but to conclude that you have no higher education, that you have not been in contact with anyone in State Government and that none of what you claim to be true even exists in reality.

KOTW tries not to get involved in the discussions. We are breaking our rule to say with respect to the above post "Exactly, well said."
KOTW loves the free exchange of ideas not the editing of posts for content. Unfortunately, of late some posters have been "Over the Top" to the point that KOTW has simply stopped editing their posts entirely in hopes that the poster(s) will get the message that "Over the Top" posts are not acceptable. KOTW made an effort recently to edit some of the posts to show how much content was inappropriate hopefully the message will get through.
Please discuss the issues and stop the personal attacks.
KOTW is glad that at least one of our "members" gets it.

The last two posts were allowed because KOTW tries to let its Members and Guests vent their opinions. I ask that Members and Guests discuss the issues but refrain from personal attacks. If you cannot play nicely, KOTW will have no choice but to delete posts with personal attacks. Posting on KOTW is a privilege and not a right. Please do not abuse the privilege.

My previous posted article listed the name of the Chief of the Harrison Fire Dept. connected to a reply he quoted concerning arrested former Harrison Greg Ellis, the black superman and it was edited for content and blocked out. Why? It's public record, printed in an article on NJ.com news so why did you block it out. Anyone can read it on NJ.com news so why do you feel the need to block out his name on the KOTW website. There is no reason. KOTW also does not print any articles concerning people who defend MR. Barney either. Why is that? Why are you protecting people who have commented when asked about situations when their name is clearly printed on NJ.com? What about the folks who now see that Barney is getting things done on his end. Once again, protecting the malingerers who are sucking $150,000.00 a year from the taxpayers for a no work job and not printing articles by people who support someone that is honest and sticks up for the people. It's a damn shame that KOTW has its own list of Kings of Hudson County who pick the peoples bones clean while censoring someone who investigates and exposes it. Either be fair and consistent or shut down the website. You, in my opinion are either afraid of these people or employed by them. Once again, WHY DOES THE HARRISON FIRE DEPARTMENT OPPOSE RANDOM DRUG TESTING WHEN SO MANY HAVE BEEN FIRED AFTER BEING ARRESTED FOR BUYING DRUGS, ONCE EVEN IN AN HFD vehicle in Newark. Sign up as a Member under your real name that can be confirmed by KOTW and KOTW will give you additional latitude. You currently are a anonymous poster which brings with it limitations. If you want to set up your own website to publish your "information" please go right ahead. It will free up some of my time from having to proof read your posts.
