I've been around a lot longer than you have and actually this was the 1st meet the Candidates night I've missed in many years because I wasn't interested in listening to misinformed hysterical people like you. There are many wonderful things going on at KHS and great kids too. Oh, you must have missed the fashion show just put on by one of the students. Oh, and did you see the musical? Wonderful talent. Did you see that the crew team came in 1st place at their meet? Did you hear the cooking department one awards at their competition? The up and coming Science competition will win awards too. Come and attend the academic excellence program next week and see what a great job these kids are doing. The only parents who aren't happy are the ones that aren't involved in anything and have nothing good to say about anybody. Just becasue you don't know the details regarding The Proposed Middle School Fiasco doesn't mean the candidates didn't do their homework on such an important issue.

Just for the record all three of The King, Munro & O'Mallet ticket are for the Middle School Concept as far as getting our children the proper tools, equipment and teachers needed to facilitate our 6-7-8 graders for high school, they are against closing an elementary school when there is no need to in order to accomplish that.

They are against making K-5 graders WALK far to many blocks over main avenues and in weather conditions

with NO CHANCE OF BUSING to get to and from school everyday.

They are also against Degesere's plan to wait until 2014 to do something about the current short comings in our curriculum for our 6-7-8 graders.

You see the new ticket have done their homework and are far more knowledgeable regarding the issue's than any of the incumbents and apparently any of the incumbent supporters.

By the way if you would have attended the Meet The Candidtaes Night you would have also heard your incumbent ticket say" They haven't paid any attention to The Middle School Issue".

Education is one of the most difficult career paths to take. In order to graduate from college and get a teaching certificate from the state, teacher’s must complete an entire semester student teaching and pass the PRAXIS. Many districts require a teacher continue their education and obtain a master’s degree. I see no reason why teachers should be treated any differently than any other professional, including doctors and lawyers.

Kearny isn’t what it used to be when we were kids. There is very little parental involvement in the schools. Teaching isn’t easy…I couldn’t do it.

I'd go along with treating them like other college professionals, like lawyers and doctors. That would mean no tenure and no pension. (Why is it that the comparison is only done to salaries and not to the other aspects of being a lawyer, doctor or accountant, like 60-hour work weeks, no pension and no protected job status?).
