Guest Guest
Saturday In ******* Tavern, People were smoking. Why will they not obey the Law. This goes on elsewhere also, Police can not write out tickets, Only health officers. This is a good law, 60,000 people die in New Jersey because of lung cancer each year. And get after the ** ***** on Schuyler they are also breaking the law, Allowing smoking. KOTW Note: The above post was edited for content. Guest Concerned
There is an old saying, if you don't like the heat get out of the kitchen !! I think that this new law is ridiculous, a tavern or private club should be able to have either a smoking bar or nonsmoking, just post a sign on the outside of the establishment that say's the above, this way no one is offended, if the bar sign say's smoking, then you don't don't go in then look for a nonsmoking establishment. It is very easy for people to say that it is not fair, that they have to breathe in secondhand smoke, well, this way you are given a choice. Think about all the the people that will lose their jobs, tobacco industry, bartenders, wait staff ( if these places lose customers), there will be more people drinking at home, which mightl increase domestic violence and maybe worse. Like I said post a sign " THIS IS A SMOKING ESTABLISHMENT "

Let me ask a question of the politicians who signed this law into effect. You don't want people in bars, or private clubs to smoke, and will certainly fine someone who breaks this law, but let me tell you I was in a well known bar in Harrison, and there was more drugs in the place, and people were selling it and doing it right out in the open. But that's ok, RIGHT????? and this new law that passed not allowing 18 years olds to purchase cigarettes is bull too!!!!! our government won't let these kids buy cigarettes, but they want their votes, and want them to serve our country in this god awful war, that isn't there war. give me a break, maybe this kids shouldn't smoke, and buy cigarettes but then again they shouldn't go to war for this country either.... Guest Guest
This law is just another indication of the hypocrisy of government and the fact that it's for sale. If the government truly believes in the evil of smoking it shouldn't continue to allow tobacco sales from which it takes its cut and WHY are casinos exempt? WHY? Because the PAY! The restaurant and the bowling alley lobby will never win a law suit against the state of NJ.

Guest Guest
The note in the paper was incorrect, Smokeing is allowed in private clubs. Sorry Aljoe no extortion money from them. What rights will we lose next? As good as it seems for all cocerned Smoker and nonsmoker, this law is saying we do not have a right to choose. I know smoking is not good for me but I should decide , to smoke or not to smoke, that is the right of choice. Hey! God gave us free will why won't the Government? Think about it. Guest guest
The Governor who passed the law was not even elected to office! You people must be crazy if you think that letting the Government make laws restricting your rights on your property is a good thing. It won't stop there either. Do you know that being overweight is a leading cause of death. Lets have overweight people stop eating unhealthy food. Let's make them pay more for their gluttony. Every year increase the tax on snack foods, soda, everything you enjoy and will lead to your death. Clothing companies have to use more fabric so their clothes should be more expensive too. Obese people are an eyesoar and they should not be allowed where average people are eating. Since we feel free to attack smokers lets open the flood gates, anyone with an unhealthy habit should be publicly ridiculed and we should not feel bad because they are hurting themselves and the people around them.
