IOW, when Matthew accuses Paszkiewicz of "preaching" his views, what does he mean by it?
Maybe next you can give us the official definition of "splitting hairs"

I have yet to hear, after reading numerous threads and seeing the question posed many, many times. I have yet to hear an answer.
To all those that support Mr. P and say that he did nothing wrong, what if it had been any religion other than Christianity?
This is one of the problems that I have with Christians. Not Christianity, but Christians.
Damn the evidence, we are ALWAYS right!
Whatever............

As a teacher, lawyer you should be able to spell court correctly
"U" is right next to "I"
It's just a minor typo, asshole!

All the LaClair ever wanted was the publicity and the Money. No one will ever know how much they will actually get. But I am sure it will be substantial.
The LaClairs have now the ACLU and the People of the American Way. The attorneys representing Matthew.
Legal action Richard Mancini. Notice of Claim is the hangman's noose for the entire school district. They said it has made it uncomfortable for Matthew.
Having to make it comfortable for Matthew has made it "UNCOMFORTABLE" for the other 1000's of students.
The lawyer talked about the failures to protect Matthew? What harm has been done? I do not recall any or I am sure it would have been posted here. It is disruptive to the whole teaching process.
Please stop calling him courageous.
In his rehearsed speech today he again admitted the he previously knew of
this in early 2006 when he first received his class schedule, he was told by former student that Mr. Paszkiewicz frequently spoke of religion in class.
Yet Mr. LaClair said Matthew knew nothing of this. So there goes the fact that this wasn't pre-meditated.
Debra, Paul, and Matthew. Please don’t consider yourself courageous.
Matthew said that everything he ( Mr. Paszkiewicz ) did was completely out of line.
Giggling as Matthew he did today during this as he said he is starting to think about being a Lawyer. I could not believe what I heard here today.
Tort claims and civil actions. Take Matthew concerns seriously? I do not think so. It’s about time to stand up for student rights and not just Matthews.
We have to protect the LaClairs? From what? Their own army of lawyers?
Please I know my child is not going to praise Matthew. Just as Matthew is supposed to be strong willed, I am asking my child to stand up for what their beliefs are as well.
I urge all other students and parents to do the same.
That still doesn't change the fact that the teacher screwed up. End of story, regardless of Matthew's motives.

So I guess you were there? Its not preaching its teaching. So now he is a wackjob? So if every word you said was put under a microscope like this teacher is having done, you would be not last. Ohh wait, working for the town you don't have to worry about mistakes, do you?
You CAN'T PREACH in a public school. It's that simple. Regardless of someones motives to out the teacher. The teacher was wrong. End of story.

A DOG FROM DOWN UNDER! kinda like some place in hell
Dingo Dave,
Please don't let a handful of idiots color your perception of all of us in the US.
Thanx
-
If I had done what he did, not at all! But he was the one who did it, so I guess he is the one who needs to deal with it. Trust me, I feel bad for your son because it looks like he wants attention and he wants to make his daddy happy. By the way, Paul, did you give your son a hug today?
Unless you know Paul and Matt personally and are privvy to the dynamics of thier relationship, then you should really shut the hell up!

They are private establishments that cater to the public. Smokers can't control themselves so the government has to step in. The same way that the government controls how much booze (also a legal activity) a person can drink in a private establishment. If they get to loaded, the establishment is liable.
Maybe you'd prefer that non-smokers start suing these establishments. All that is being asked is that you control your behavior when it affects others. You couldn't do it so the government has to hold your hand.
Start Suing? see that's the problem. No one told them they have to go to a place where smoking is allowed. You don't like what goes on in a strip bar? Don't go there. It's that simple. Plenty of places ban smoking with no need for MORE LAWS! Just I because Also equating this with drunk driving is an idiotic parallel.
Let me ask you a question, where do YOU draw the line at the Gov't holding your hand? Doesn't anybody see what's going on here?

It might seem a "Small" expense, but is it really needed?
Riding past Garfield school the other day, i saw bottled water being deliverd into the school. I'm sure to some it may seem like nothing, but in the long run it adds up ( $$$) . Don't know if other schools do this also, but what about the "ole" days when Keany town water was the only thing to drink. Inflated school budgets???
It's possible that it was going into vending machines, I guess.

I'll respond for 2smart4u. "a cracked" ?? No, a crackhead.
Gee Mr. Christain,
Thank you ever so much for pointing out my typo, is it because you do think that I'm a crackhead?
-
Stix, you don't have the brains to hang out here, you're in over your head. Stix with Sesame Street.
Apparently I've upset the gator. Why so defensive? What have I done to you? In your response, please include a copy of your credentials so that I may know specifically why I don't belong here and you do.
-
What's wrong with this picture: A high school grad calling PhD's crackpots. Kool-aid has some curious side-effects. LOL.
and your credentials are..........?
-
This arguement is hopless, be it intelligent design or whatever. One does not have the right to force thier beliefs on another.
-
Looks like crack has claimed another brain.
So, are you saying that I'm a cracked for asking a simple question? If so, I would really like to know how you came to that conclusion.
-
I love the way you keep referencing this atheistic website. If you're not smart enough to recognize the stupidity of people like Keith Robison, I can't help you. The Darwiniacs are losing ground as science continues to develop more sophisticated tools to examine cell structure at the molecular level. And the more they discover, the more scientists realize it's more than serendipity.
Did anyone hear the recent news story about this guy who sat down and figured out how many deaths were in the bible?
God was responsible for over 2,000,000
Satan was responsible for 10
What's up with that?
-
Isn't the real controversy not of evolution or intelligent design, but more of the bible itself and how it says we came to be?

Welcome to Culture Wars... the new civil war in America where wedge issues are dividing us and making us enemies.
While Paszkiewicz is correct that the phrase "seperation of church and state" does not appear in the Constitution as amended, he is implying that there is no seperation.
There is. The Establishment Clause of the First Amendment clearly states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..." This means that a public school teacher, when on the job, cannot establish religion. Paszkiewicz broke that law.
Paszkiewicz claims that he has a right to proselytize his Religious Right beliefs in a public schoolroom because of the Freedom of Religion Clause, which says the government cannot prohibit the free exercise of religion.
Paszkiewicz can express his religious views on his free time, but that stops when he walks through that classroom door and puts on his cheap clip-on tie. And this does not just apply to school teachers, but any public official. While you represent the government at work, you keep your religion to yourself. That's the law.
It is unfortunate that our Religious Right brethren have a poor understanding of these two essential clauses that protect their right to practice their religion as they please....but keep them from indoctrinating others on the taxpayer's dime.
Tom,
You are right on target but be careful 'cause this swamp is full of gators waiting to snap off a limb or two .

Please God, give the man some damn brains.
He admits in November that a change in strategy is needed yet proceeds to go on vacation and talk proudly of having spent three whole hours one day talking about it?
People are in harm's way directly on his orders and he should have been working eighteen hours a day on the problem every day until a solution was fpund, not diddling around on vacation.
What a sad excuse for leadership.
I heard the other day that since GW has been president he has spent a total of 365 days @ Camp David, not counting his other vacations

he is not the "so-called history teacher", you idiot! He is the best history teacher at KHS. The only person who doesn't like him is baby laClair...but we can understand that, little Matt has serious problems!
ps: Did you ever have a class with Mr. P? Probably not, you are probably too old for that!
If he is the best history teacher @ KHS the he sould have known better. I have nothing personl against Mr. P I'm sure he is a good guy. He did however make a mistake.

BORING .
I'm glad you saw fit to take the time to tell us that. I think it's a valid question.

"Carrier Air Wing 11, assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, announced that it was lending four of its F/A-18E/F Super Hornets to Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 14, currently aboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), to provide a mix of fighter/tanker capabilities to support coalition forces on the ground in Iraq. The first day, the Super Hornets will fly 1,700 miles with drop tanks and be refueled from tankers aboard Nimitz. The second leg of the trip will be 2,300 miles long and involve an in-flight refueling before the Super Hornets will touch down aboard Lincoln."

Release Date: 4/14/2003 2:12:00 PM
By Chief Journalist (SW) Tim Paynter, Navy Region Hawaii Public Affairs
PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii (NNS) -- Following images of liberated Iraqis in Baghdad April 9, news quickly broke that the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) Battle Group was relieved by the USS Nimitz (CVN 68) Battle Group, and the ships of the Lincoln Battle Group were headed home after one of the longest naval deployments since the Vietnam War."

Here's a transcipt from CNN interviews with the crew after it arrived at its home port. Note that the sailors refer to the Bush visit as an event in the past.
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0305/06/se.05.html
"CORONADO, California (AP) -- More than 70 aircraft left the USS Abraham Lincoln on Wednesday for Navy bases along the West Coast, as the first sailors from the aircraft carrier returned to the United States.
A crew of more than 5,000 remains aboard the Lincoln, awaiting a visit from President Bush, who will address the nation Thursday evening from its deck. The 1,100-foot ship will dock May 6 at its home port of Everett, Wash."
http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/West/04/30/linc...g.ap/index.html
Bush landed on the ship on May 1, days before it reached its home port in Washington.
You could have counted Hawaii as the ship's homecoming. Why didn't you think of that?
"USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) entering Pearl Harbor, 26 April 2003, on her way home from Operation Iraqi Freedom."

The time line (along with home port in Washington state) makes your claim look pretty silly, Keith.
I have a buddy who's son was on the ship and that's what he said. Sorry that's all I can offer. So, you can relax now, if I was mistaken then I apologize. Hopefully you will be able sleep now.

This is my son's brain on drugs.
So, what did this response accomplish?
-
"My geologist friends" ??? What a laugh ! The only friends you have hang out at the local watering hole and are most likely cow manure technicians, like yourself.
What and ignorant, childish response. What are you 13 yrs old?

I just find this interesting. The Colts won tonite, great game too. Both the Colts owner and coach first wanted to thank the Lord for thier victory. Is that what god really cares about? Who gets in to the super bowl? We still have war and famine along with so many "real" problems but all god is worried about is who wins a football game? I love football, but at the end of the day it's just a game.
So C'mon God ...get with it.
