  1. Bottom line this is NOT a treatment facility nor is it a halfway house, this IS a boarding house that does not belong in a neighborhood of 1 family houses. This " House" was built on the quiet not notifying the neighborhood nor was the town even notified. I can't build a 2 family without a zoning variance so what gives the owners of this property the right to do this. This House is subject to the same laws now as a multi family/hotel meaning fire department inspections and housing inspections. 2nd point there is NO staff residing nor working here, nurse, counselors, etc:If your so concerned petition the owners to put one of these houses in YOUR neighborhood maybe right across the street or next door.

  2. Not a QC hack skippy, I normally work for building owners overseeing construction projects to verify that contractor HACKS do their job right and not cutting corners or using Shoddy workmanship. Dealt with many tools such as yourself over the years

  3. Well if you have never heard of a large scale project going 24/7 than it is you my friend who has never been involved in the construction industry! Yes three shifts for all trades with foreman and sub-foreman, very common practice. That's real construction boy not like building a two family house on Davis Ave. To name a couple of major projects you might of heard of in New York City that went 24/7, Nets Brooklyn Arena, MSG, oh yea and the Freedom Tower just to name a few. The Nets project is in a total residential area the Garden and Freedom Tower have residential areas all around the sites. With the KHS project you would only be working interiors during off hours so disruptions in the neighborhood would be minimal. So let me know if you need a hand with that two family, I'll give you a few pointers kiddo!

The Nets project on Flatbush ave in Brooklyn is NOT in a residential area, to the east the rear borders the LIRR railroad multiple track area, North is a large mall, south is retail stores and west 2 blocks west is yes residential. Your quoting projects that are in the minimum residential areas at best, very little residential in the MSG area and the Freedom Tower is in the financial district. As a Construction Inspector for the past 25 years NY & NJ I do get around. But you are right about multi shifts it can be done if the contractor wanted to do it this is more about a profit issue with him, more hours means more out of pocket and if these guys are Union Sundays are double time and a half. But you would know that being in construction

  4. To the first 3 posts who also apparently are illiterate themselves and CANNOT read, no where in the original post did I state that the town made the sign. The town ordered the sign from another company, however the person who opened the package didn't catch the error nor did those who installed the sign. Had the sign not been installed it could have been returned for the correct one. 2smart4u STFU

  5. I was told by a Walmart employee that it is in fact an expansion to turn it into a 24 hour super Walmart, the target population is Jersey City,& Newark

  6. Boy did our town employees drop the ball, recently I was made aware of a street sign located at Hoyt & Devon st. Only Devon was spelled " DENOV" st. Do we hire the illiterate those who cannot read or is it just plain laziness that our town employees are exhibiting. It is my opinion that the town employees who dropped the ball should foot the bill for a new sign and the time and wages it takes to replace this screwup.

  7. Well of course do nothing " Al" wins big everytime, this town is 80% Democrat. Like the Republican party you people vote the party line, if the Democratic party said they wanted Jeffery Dahmer for mayor you may not like it but none the less you'll vote the party line. Think for yourselves. Santos has done very little for Kearny, his " Redevelopment plan for Schylur ave still has not come to be,He's allowed tax's to be raised year after year, but yet I see very little for the 30+ thousand in tax dollars my family spends yearly in Kearny. He and the town council have done NOTHING to address the parking situation in town, parking permits have been brought up for over 10 years for the more heavily parked areas only to hear every single time " we will look into it" You say " Al" is a good mayor So what the hell has he done.

  8. KOTW,

F**K yourself. You run the worst forum in the history of internet forums. You delay every post by a F**KING year so that you can edit out the names of public figures. Why would I want to heed warnings from you? Seriously. The hurricane will be here and gone before anybody can even respond to this message. So wtf.

I understand that you need to keep the slander to a minimum, but goddamn. Why don't you just force people to register using valid e-mail addresses? Problem solved. You can punish people who violate privacy issues. You can also use IP addresses to keep trolls off of your forum. But no, you'd rather censor the crap out of people and stifle flowing debates.

You're an idiot... whoever you are.

    Sincerely,

    KO

And the IDIOT of the year award goes to KO, you claim this site to be the worst forum in history yet here you are posting away, if it S**ks so bad why keep coming back

  9. So another person got broken into last night, first floor...nope....second floor...nope...try third floor apartment with like 5 other apartments in the house, no one fingerprinted, and all you did was take some pictures...

Kearny Crime is SKYROCKETING and rather than see it as an epidemic it's more of the same, how about contact the county or the state if your unable to fix the problems yourselves. what was that in the observer? oh yeah a notice about how auto theft is skyrocketing in Kearny....and what sage advice is given? call the KPD rather than dial 911. How about go out and put some camera's up and maybe you'd be able to find out who is doing all these break in's instead of sitting back drinking coffee and eating donuts.

    SAVE OUR TOWN ALREADY!

I put camera's on my house and guess what IT STILL DOES NOT STOP criminals from trying to break in. 5 times in the last 2 years I've had attempted breakins, in one case I caught an individual attempting to break into the rear of my building and I held him until KPD arrived, which took I believe 5 minutes from call to arrival. He's currently serving 2 years for criminal attempt.

  10. How many fires have been put out by the the mighty KFD and HFD this year combined? I heard the number was 4 but they were very, very small fires that just about any guys with a few buckets of water could have easily handled. This is worth millions of dollars over a 4 month period. What a sinfull waste of the taxpayers money. Almost no Police on the streets, about 150 fireman that are predominately millionaires for virtually doing no work at all and don't live anywhere near Kearny or Harrison, and so many patronage and nepotism jobs (mainly in Harrison) that has completely almost bankrupted the town. A Kearny B.O.E. election that people who are elected go from almost having nothing to millionaires in 4 years, I don't know how, but it all fits in so well together to tax the residents into poverty. Tax and spend. I was in St. Barnabus burn unit being treated for some time and a fireman from one of these towns had burned his fingertips in some fire. When he came in to get his bandages changed, which I did myself when I got out, he was brought in each time in an ambulance with a fire engine ouside with about 6 firemen that came in with their full costumes on, helmets included.

I guess it was to try to impress the nurses in the burn unit, but they laughed their buuts off each time at how pitifull the display of ego they had. It was really a sight to see. The ff with the very minor burns used to tell them how difficult it was to move on with his life and that he might have to retire due to the flames he fought off nad the stress of the raging blaze. We laughed at them like crazy when they left. Some things will never change.

Relax cupcake your going to give yourself a stroke

  11. Just to put you in your place, we do have a great number of people using our schools who live outside the district. Why don't we go after these people? Simple. The more kids on the rolls, the more state aid--as little as it might be. We had, a number of years ago, retired police officers working for the BOE as a part of the residency office. These gentlemen would go into the home of said residents and search for their cloths, their bed, and official paper work stating that, if these kids were going to our schools, using addresses, that their parents had to live at the said address or must give legal guardianship of said kids to the people who did live at the said address. We cought a great number of kids using phony addresses. At one time, one of the BOE members said that she would give the illegal kid (who was on the football team and other sport teams--who really lived in Newark) a place to live in her house--nice, but the parents have to give up their kid, who is a tax break for them. The BOE member was being nice but you are supposed to protect the citizens of Kearny from having to pay for kids who don't live in Kearny. Too liberal with our taxes is the only way to describe this person. Among many finds, these retired policemen found a student who lived in Brooklyn, NY, who was using a Chinese Restaurant on Kearny Avenue as her address--that was an easy one to catch. By the way the retired policemen were basically asked to leave because they were doing their jobs to aggressively. If we have a residency office today, I don't think the students are investigated as they were in the past.

So JL is not "grasping for straws," he is really telling it like it is.

We do have a residency officer in town and he does in fact still go to home to check address's. He's been to my 6 family house checking on students who live here. But if you really want to catch those who live in other towns " illegal" students. Just hop on any NJ transit bus at the corner of Johnston ave and Kearny ave around 8am. I have and have seen in access of 12+ dressed in KHS uniforms coming in from Harrison

  12. From what I've read, some of the costs of acquiring the property are as follows:

    975,000 Cost of Property

80,000 - 120,000 Removal of Oil Tanks (estimated as there is some confusion on the exact amount)

    180,000 Architect fees

    25,000 Legal fees

    Renovation costs are still unknown

The other costs are hard to know unless there is a direct access to the Board. You can ask for an open public record act request (OPRA), but since no one has a clear idea what is being done, the true dollar amount will be hard to come by. I believe everyone on this board can agree the cost will not be covered by a 1.2 million dollar grant.

As far as why the purchase of the property, it was to move the Board of Ed offices to Midland Ave and increase classroom space in hopes to make Franklin School a Middle School. My concern is that the move will not free up enough space at Franklin School to justify the 1mil + dollar expenditure, not to mention the fact that the property was bought as-is, which raises a red flag. Anyhow, in my opinion, the community and students will not benefit from this project. As a candidate running for the Board of Ed this year, I thought by bringing up this topic I'd introduce a project that has been talked about and acted upon which many, if not most, Kearny residents are not aware of. If you have further thoughts on this issue, I'd appreciate them. Thank you.

Franklin school I believe is already a K-8 school, the theory is to free up room for more students that will eventually come from "Schulyr crossing" the new apartment complex thats to be built by Russo Development

  13. Does this mean your not coming for coffee?

I have Irish soda bread too.

    jus sayin

Jus Sayin make sure you have Huggies and wet napes on hand for our "Guest". I was at the parade and think I saw this punk. all mouth no balls

  14. It's an absolute lie that Chestnut from Woodland south was not plowed and salted at the time you wrote your post. Absolute, straight out lie. Just another dummy looking for a place to vent I guess.

your a lier, I know for fact that it was not plowed or salted when I worte that

  15. That's a lie, every one of those streets are passable. We'd love nothing more then to open them curb to curb. Unfortunately, the street supervisor tells us not to because people complain that their driveways get plowed in or we hit their trash cans that they leave in the street. Can't have your cake and eat it.

4 to 8 more coming tomorrow! Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

How come you DPW retards can't seem to plow Chestnut st south of west hudson park, we're always told the same thing " we'll put you on the list",the upside is the snow usually melts before you get your lazy ass's down here.Should make for an intersting lawsuit for negligence when the first person slips and gets hurt or there's a car accident, they can blame it on the DPW retards

  16. This is getting ridiculous. Can't somthing be done to remove some of this snow? There is no place to put the snow on the sidewalks let alone the mounds left by the plows! If the residents on a block move their cars for an hour or two, can you please send a plow to clear the block to the curbs? Maybe declare more snow streets to at least get more of them completely open. Or at least keep the plows and salters going for another two or three days to clear the snow that is tossed back into the street by people digging out their cars......

I agree with 100% but with furlough fridays there's no one to plow, Chestnut st between Johnston and Woodland ave's has not been plowed or salted as of today. I have been told by the town that the street would be put on the list, however Lincoln ave where Mace Bros. warehouse is located has been plowed, salted and is clean to the asphalt street. It would seem the town placates to business's but screw the homeowner and tax payer.

  17. it seems to me that some of these posters are just idiots or have no clue what really goes on in this town. If you were really concerned with what goes on in ANY dept. ,go or contact that dept. Grow some balls and ask the tough questions to those who are in charge, put your name on record or at least do your homework and find out the truth. Come on, stop spreading lies. Kearny homeowner and worker.

An open invite I love it, I wonder how many KPD I can get in front of IA in a years time, for talking on the cell while driving. Not to mention the number from all the other town employees, including the boy dandy Mayor, who I've personnaly have seen cell phone glued to the ear giggeling like an F'ing idiot while driving

  18. i know how to spell ass whipe i did have a kearny high school education stupid im sorry im not writing a paper for a class u f*ckin idiot, whith that being said, read wat i wrote if your so f*ckin smart i said they should hire a clean up crew to clean it up. i guess your mother didnt slap you enough to learn had to read dumba**. maybe you do need a slap cuzz u startin problems wen all i said was someone should clean it up, i wasnt talkin shit to knowone but ur too scared to even write ur name get off this website asswhipe and GET A LIFE.

You know how to spell, wow now that made me laugh as you cannot spell. Whipe or did you mean " Wipe",Wat or "what",had or "how",knowonw or " No one". Now I've seen some Dumbazz's you take the cake

  19. Did each brave Kearny Fire Dept. frat boy have to be escorted out of town by the cops the next morning when they woke up and heard about the shooting? I am sure they wet the bed upon hearing the news. Keep laying off cops and hiring more fireman baby, thats the ticket, because as one big mouth on the board says that crime does not go up in bad times, fires do. The guy with the bullet holes in his head can confirm that.

I see " Mangina" has returned, with more words of wit and satire.

  20. I was driving on Kearny Ave and noticed that Johnston Avenue, where Mayor Santos supposedly lives was blocked off as they were removing snow and loading it onto dump trucks. Why are they removing snow from Johnston Ave, when Kearny Ave and other main avenues are still not very passable when cars are parked.

HorseShyte I live a few houses down from where the "Mayor" supposedly lives and your a LIER, the Kearny DPW did NO snow removal on Johnston ave. If any here want to see the area it's between Devon st and Kearny Ave, it's in this area that the mayor supposedly lives, the original poster to this is a Blatant Lier
