  1. Twenty years of research?  Can you give examples?  And who has been led away from macro evolution?  Besides a handful of whacky creationists and I.D. proponents, there hasn't been any movement from macro evolution.

hey, just think of all the progress smart people have made convincing Christians that micro-evolution is possible. That's a HUGE step in the right direction, considering the blinders Christians wear.

Give Christianity another 500 years or so and they'll begin to accept macro-evolution too. (If their Jesus doesn't return before then).

  2. I pity you.

    You do? How sweet.

And why do you pity me? Because you believe that Jesus is God and I think he's not?

Be you believe that faith in Christ leads to salvation, and I think it's just another superstition?

So, why exactly do I deserve your pity? Because I can think for myself and realized that the whole Christian faith is a fraudulent mix of old Egyptian and Perisan myths?

  3. Dear Christains,

I read alot of the posts on this site by folks claiming to be Christians and it is frightening to say the least. I'm not talking about an individuals view of a certain topic but rather how they interact with others. I would almost bet that a few here, not all, would advocate using violence to further thier religious views. Maybe not today ot tommorrow but who knows where we'll be in 10 or 20 yrs.

Hi Ed, you don't have to wait 10 or 20 years. It's happening today all over the country, with Christians bombing abortion clinics and resorting to violent acts whenever it suits them.

Not to paint all Christians with the same brush, Leigh from Austin is definitely one of the more tolerant Christians I've seen.

But people that claim to be Christian certainly have a political agenda, and that agenda has no room for anyone who doesn't believe what they believe.

It's a scary scenario for sure.

  4. It's disgustingly pretentious and arrogant for any theist to go around trying to convert everybody. What possesses such a person to actually think their god or their interpretation of some holy book is right at all, much LESS 'more right' than that of any other person? Such arrogance makes me sick.

    Welcome to Taliban America!

These are the people running your government right now.

People who believe their superstition is superior to everyone else's superstition and are willing to throw away all reason to enforce their superstition as supreme.

And the Taliban is alive and well in Kearny.

  5. The difference between the Christians in Kearny and the Christians in Texas it that we actually "believe that we have to go and make disciples of all nation..."  This is a very serious issue and you guys seem to be ignoring it. Fortunately, we are not in Texas and the Christians residents in Kearny, NEW JERSEY....you know the ones that VOTE in Kearny don't think the same way your christians do! However, when there is an issue like this one in Austin, you are free to take your church members and protest. Remember, in Austin, not in KEARNY!

    Welcome to TALIBAN Kearny!

I for one am not interested in being a disciple of your Jesus.

I do not want my children hearing your Jesus fairy tales in history class.

You can take your children to church and brainwash them with all your nonsense, and they can stand on street corners and pass out leaflets with their fables.

But the minute you come into the school you are violating the rights of everyone in that building who wants an education, not a blind recitation of 2000 year old superstitions.

But for your Kearny Christians who want to make disciples of all nations, you should take a cue from the Taliban. They want to make disciples of all nations too.

One nation under God. Not YOUR God, not MY God. All Gods.

Keep your Jesus stuffed under your mattress where it belongs.

  6. Recognizing that Texas leads the nation in killing people, "if this happened in Austin"  would probably result in a lethal injection. I'm sure you're very proud.

Actually, Christianity leads the world in killing people.

Thousands more people died at the hands of Christians over the ages than from any other religion.

Although the Muslims are catching up.

Christianity has a proud heritage of mass slaughter. And going back to the "Old" testament, you can read lots more tales of God's love.

    Amelekite Babies anyone?

So, before you start throwing stones, look in the mirror, and beg your Jesus for forgiveness. It sure beats living right the first time.

  7. I wonder if any of the KHS students or parents have thought about which programs they would be willing to give up to pay a lawsuit.  That would be the real result of Paszkiewicz's preaching in class.

Or the save the district a lot of money and grief and just have this guy resign.

I'm sure the Westboro Baptist Church would love to have him.

  8. I just find this interesting. The Colts won tonite, great game too. Both the Colts owner and coach first wanted to thank the Lord for thier victory. Is that what god really cares about? Who gets in to the super bowl? We still have war and famine along with so many "real" problems but all god is worried about is who wins a football game? I love football, but at the end of the day it's just a game.

So C'mon God ...get with it.

God is for the Colts. Isn't that obvious? God hates the losing team. He makes them play poorly.

  9. Okay KOTW, it's over now, let's clean house, and get rid of all the Leclaire nonsense, there are other things that can be discussed in this forum. It seems to me that between The Observer and KOTW Mr. P didn't stand a chance, but as long as those of us who know in thier hearts that a good teacher is hard to find, and this man paid for his beliefs. So lets put this to bed now, and let sleeping dogs lie.

Please explain to me how Mr. P "paid for his beliefs."

He still has his job, both at school and church.

As far as I know he hasn't received any death threats or cold stares from fellow teachers.

Is this more Christian "persecution" because someone called him on his beliefs?

  10. If that means we've seen the last of Paul, Strife and the rest of the merry band of liberal pukes, then I say ......Amen, Brother !!

It means it's up to Paul whether he wants to sue the BOE to force the issue in open court.

I for one would love to see the School Board sued over this, considering they didn't do anything to Rev. Pasceweicz. After all, if they support his teaching that dinosaurs were on Noah's Ark, then they obviously can't be trusted to run the schools.

At best, we should vote out the entire school board next election like they did in Dover, PA when the Christian Taliban tried to force "Intelligent Design" into the curriculum.

  11. "My geologist friends"  ???  What a laugh ! The only friends  you have hang out at the local watering hole and are most likely cow manure technicians, like yourself.

    Congratulations moron, you've won.

You've successfully silenced all rational thought.

    How typically Christian of you.

Jesus would be proud by your actions and your childish name calling.

You make a fine testimony of your religion and an excellent ambassador for the citizens of Kearny.

    Sleep well.

  12. We want to "protect" them from any harm, emotionally and/or physically.

And yet, you're willing to allow Pascewicz to continue teaching when he's emotionally harming all the children in that class.

Spreading his version of a religion can do more harm than calling someone names.

He condemmed a student to hell, for God's sake!

That's what I don't understand about this. All parents, myself included, want to protect their kids. To me, that includes protection from people who claim their religious beliefs are superior to everyone else's and who are willing to teach their religious version of events rather than the state mandated curriculum.

If the school board does keep to it's new guidelines against preaching in class, and does something to reprimand this guy, then there's hope and there's no need to record him again.

But if he starts preaching again, there needs to be a way to deal with it and prove it. This wouldn't have come out had not a student recorded his nonsense.

  13. Some mistakes have clearly been made, but invading Iraq was not one of them.  Hussein was actively working to get sanctions lifted (see Oil-for-Food scandal, among other things), and he cheated on the sanctions in order to position Iraq to return to the WMD business promptly after that (one of the primary conclusions of the Duelfer Report).

    Again, you're missing the facts.

The Oil Sanctions against Iraq had one purpose - to prevent Iraq from making oil concessions to France and Russia. We wanted the oil in the US at favorable terms.

People forget that Iraq is sitting on an estimated 3 BILLION barrels of oil in reserves, and we need that to fuel our economy.

Saddam was going to make deals with Total - the French company - for leases rather than make deals with ExxonMobil and BP.

BP, British Petroleum, used to be called Kuwaiti Oil. Saddam has no love for the British or Americans due to English interference in the region, hence his desire to make deals with France.

Why was France so against the invasion? They wanted the oil leases.

This is all documented. Especially the part of Cheney and his aides poring over oil maps of Iraq before the invasion, with the names of US oil companies strategically placed.

The war has nothing to do with democracy, WMD, freedom, or any of that.

They have oil, we need oil. The US supplies are dwindling, China is sucking up more and more of the world's supply and we need oil.

Was it a coincidence that the POTUS and VPOTUS are both Texas Oil Men?

Delude yourself with noble aims for the war, but it's all about oil.

Both Saddam and Kim Jung Il were accused of harboring and producing WMD. Yet North Korea actually had them and we ignored it.

    Why?

North Korea doesn't have any oil.

    Plain and simple.

  14. Maybe Bryan is Mr. P's ****** ********** *****. All the fundamentalists have one - they are all ****** ***********. Ted Haggard, Mark Foley, Jerry Falwell.

Maybe that's why Bryan is defending him so vociferously and ignoring all the facts.

KOTW Note: The above post was edited for content.

  15. Just finished two books that blow apart Darwin's macro evolution theory.  One is Michael Behe's "Darwin's Black Box" and the other is Philip Johnson's "Darwin On  Trial".

I challenge any Darwiniac to read these books and not be convinced that Darwin was a fraud.

Now of course, there are those who will keep their eyes closed in a forest and deny the existence of trees. These types are not interested, they don't want to think differently.

But for those with an open mind and an interest in "Intelligent Design / Evolution, these books are a must-read.

    WOW, I'm impressed.

you actually read something other than the Bible!

You do have half a brain.

Funny how you point fingers at people who will keep their eyes closed, etc.

There is a name for people like that - Christians. Not interested in learning about anything but the Bible and stuff that supports the bible.

  16. How many times do you think General Washington called on "Divine Intervention" to help him keep his army from being destroyed by the British?

so God is always on the side of the Winners?

How many times do you think General Lee called on Divine Intervention to help him keep his army from being destroyed by the Union?

How many times do you think Saddam Hussein called on Divine Intervention to help him keep his army from being destroyed by the Americans?

How many times do you think Hitler called on Divine Intervention to help him keep his army from being destroyed by the Allies?

Just because a person is victorious doesn't mean they had divine inspiration and the losers didn't.

  17. Are you kidding ??  Strife has found his calling in life, arguing with and criticizing everyone else's comments.

Out on the street he may be a 5'4", 130 lb. geek, but on KOTW he's a superhero.

Yes funny how chat boards can do that.

For example, on the chat board "2smart4u" is a moron fundamentalist who can't put together two sentences.

But in real life, he's probably a moron fundamentalist who can't put together two sentences.

  18. And your point is ??

My point is that you claim that the president's actions have made the US and the world safer from terrorists. You claim that we should look to the fact that there haven't been any terrorist attacks in the US since 9/11.

    Which is true.

But there weren't any attacks for 8 years before that either. Which means that Bush's actions really can't be judged at this point.

But if you look at the rest of the world, terrorist attacks have happened with alarming frequency. At least one major attack on US interests every year since 9/11.

Which means Bush's policies really aren't keeping Americans safer at all.

And i commend you for asking the question. That's the first step to understanding. Rather than relying on the old tired fallacy that "The Bible Says it, I Believe it, and that settles it!" comments, you actually asked a question about something.

congratulations, there is hope for you too.

  19. Why don't you go down to the Passaic River and show us all how you can walk on water.  JACKASS!

Wow, would you call your Lord and Savior a jackass because he could walk on water?

More proof that Christians are just full of sh** about everything.

OK, so you don't like the scripture I chose. How about this one instead. It's from Leviticus.

Any of the people of Israel, or of the aliens who reside in Israel, who give any of their offspring to Molech shall be put to death; the people of the land shall stone them to death. I myself will set my face against them, and will cut them off from the people, because they have given of their offspring to Molech, defiling my sanctuary and profaning my holy name. And if the people of the land should ever close their eyes to them, when they give of their offspring to Molech, and do not put them to death, I myself will set my face against them and against their family, and will cut them off from among their people, them and all who follow them in prostituting themselves to Molech.

If any turn to mediums and wizards, prostituting themselves to them, I will set my face against them, and will cut them off from the people. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I am the Lord your God. Keep my statutes, and observe them; I am the Lord; I sanctify you. All who curse father or mother shall be put to death; having cursed father or mother, their blood is upon them.

If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbour, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death. The man who lies with his father’s wife has uncovered his father’s nakedness; both of them shall be put to death; their blood is upon them. If a man lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall be put to death; they have committed perversion; their blood is upon them. If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death; their blood is upon them. [Leviticus, chapter 20]

According to this passage, in God's Word, we have to kill half the people in America. We are supposed to kill everyone who has cursed his father or mother, everyone who has committed adultery, and every homosexual.

Now, when I bring this up to Christians, they don't like that one bit, and are quick to remind me that the "New" Convenant replaces many of these laws from God Himself.

So, if this book, this Holy Bible, is the word of God, is it fair to say that God, the almighty king of the universe, changed his mind?

  20. Baptists do not dictate orthodoxy.  The Southern Baptists (the largest Baptist denomination in the U.S. and the world), in particular, historically do not even have an explicit doctrinal statement to which member churches are bound.

"Baptists cherish and defend religious liberty, and deny the right of any secular or religious authority to impose a confession of faith upon a church or body of churches."

    http://www.sbc.net/bfm/default.asp

That means, in essence, that they are reluctant as a denomination to try to pin down orthodoxy.

that actually means that Baptists like to make it up as they go along. they have no guiding authority to keep them sane.

they can pick and choose any part of the Bible they like and ignore the rest.

Baptists are the worst group of Christians, and generally when I refer to "save us from Christians" I'm referring to Baptists and Pentacostals.

You know, good, honest people like Ted Haggard and Pat Robertson and Tom DeLay and Mark Foley.

  21. There is hope after all for Kearny, NJ!

In the Observer online today, School Board president Bernadette McDonald released comments about the Kearny Schools committment to separation of church and State.

Her statement outlines new steps the school district will take to ensure that no other teacher can cross that line:

First, every teacher in the Kearny school district will be required to take part in in-service training on Constitutional parameters.

A professional, qualified to teach such a “course,” will be brought in by the district to train teachers and staff.

Next, the district will adopt a formal policy “expressing its strong commitment to the principle that personal religious beliefs of our institutional staff have no place in our classrooms.”

Congratulations to Ms. McDonald and the Kearny School Board for bring Kearny back into the real world.
