  3. The Glass Light Theatre, a Kearny based non-profit group, program of Theatre Classes begins. The program runs for eight weeks through November 13. There are programs designed from children through adults. For more information, Click Here , then click on the Theatre Classes link to the left.

Kids Day America/International Saturday, September 20th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. An International Children's Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness Day This is a special event dedicated to the children of our community. Throughout the day we will be providing FREE child ID cards with photos and fingerprints. Local Fire and Police Departments will be on hand with very important safety tips. FREE spinal exams and scoliosis screenings available. Three will also be information on disease prvention and health promotion from the local healthcare providers.   14. East Newark Memorial service "A Day of Remembrance" 9:30 a.m. in front of the East Newark Town Hall at 34 Sherman Ave. Mayor Joseph Smith and Council members will be in attendance. The program will include a musical performance by James Woods, a bagpiper from the Harrison Fire Department and Uno Cunha, an East Newark high school student who plays the trumpet. U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Gilbert Torres also will be present and will give a presentation on his experience in the war in Iraq, followed by a representative from Albert Ettlin American Legion Post 36. The Rev. Anthony Granato of St. Anthony's Church will officiate as chief clergy. At 10:22 a.m., to the tune of "Amazing Grace," the Town Hall flag will be raised from half to full staff.

NJ Civil Service Association Kearny Council 11 Third Annual Picnic For the clients and staff of Pathways to Independence At VFW Post 1302 Kearny Council 11 is the union that represents all non-uniformed Town workers. Pathway to Independence is a private, not for profit organization providing pre-vocational and vocational training opportunities to adults with developmental disabilities.

  20. Since today is Day 5 since the board has been back up, tomorrow we will have broken a record. The more I use the Board, the more I like it. I think you'll come to like it too. Tell your friends. I think the Board is a great way to build a better sense of community. Then again I'm biased.

    Express Your Opinion Regarding Whether the Mayor and Council of Kearny should privatize the street sweeping operations in town.
