McDonough was re-elected last night and his ticket won three out of four Town Council seats. The Second Ward seat was too close to call last night, with incumbent Arthur Pettigrew behind Steven McCormick by 12 votes, with 28 ballots and a slew of provisional ballots not yet counted. McDonough, the Democratic incumbent who has held his post for the past 11 years, defeated challenger Anselmo Millan 1,489 votes to 933. "I think the voters realized that I'm sincere and dedicated to the town," McDonough said last night. In the First Ward, political newcomer Jesus Huaranga, running on the McDonough ticket, defeated Maria Camano 282 to 201. McCormick was ahead of Pettigrew 264 to 252, and James Doran defeated Millan-backed Joseph Wood 400 to 192 in the Fourth Ward. Guest Guest Posted November 15, 2006 Report Share Posted November 15, 2006 Harrison race decided Tuesday, November 14, 2006 HARRISON - The race between incumbent Arthur Pettigrew and challenger Steve McCormick for the Second Ward seat on the Town Council appears to be over after provisional and absentee ballots were tallied yesterday. McCormick emerged victorious, taking 308 votes to Pettigrew's 263, a significant increase from the 12-vote margin he held after Election Day - 264 to 252 - before absentee and provisional ballots were tallied.
