Guest Guest
So your point is that Thistle has more kids so the other Teams should not get any field time????You "forgot" to mention that Thistle uses Kearny Schools for indoor practice! I don't know how you pull that one off. You are private clubs using Town/Board of Ed fields and facilties for a small fee and sometimes nothing. The wear annd tear that the Clubs put on the fields is far greater than the fees paid. Be grateful for what you have and stop crying. From what I've been told Thistle donated the grass field to Kearny that sits on Harvey field and gave them thousands of dollars to install it. please correct me if this is incorrect. Thistle also now makes an annual donation to the town for up-keep of the fields. What does Kearny United do???

Guest Guest
Is it true that our asst. rec super. is also cousins with the founder of Kearny united???
Guest Guest
First off, make sure your information is accurate before you post. Obviously, the person you are getting your info from doesn't know the facts. FACT 1 - Kearny United players were ALWAYS Thisle players, they are just the older kids now. FACT 2 - BOTH TEAMS were given field time. This time is being split between Gunnel Oval and KHS turf. FACT 3 - BOE Presidentt is a coach of Kearny United, but her team will be playing Sunday, the 29th at the Oval. You can call whomever you want, councilperson, mayor or the Board Office, but you will look like a fool, because all the parties involved know what the facts really are. As far as the Thistle cause, whatever that may be, why don't you stop pitting these teams against eachother and try to work as a group for the players? Since you know so much why dont you answer the questions being asked !
Guest guest
Since you know so much why dont you answer the questions being asked ! When the turf was donated by Thistle, the current Kearny United teams were a part of that. Therefore, they also donated the turf. As far as a Kearny United person being related to the Rec. Comm. what difference does it make? The initial problem came from 2 leagues wanting the fields at the same time. It was split fairly, but you people do not wan to let go. Fact, the grass that is on Harvey Field had absolutely nothing to do with Thistle. The Red Bulls were looking for a field to practice on, they visited the site and made the Town of Kearny an offer. They brought their own groundkeepers in, stripped the old field, crowned it for better drainage and resoded the field. They also kicked in a few dollars for some minor improvements to the locker room. And as for Thistle paying a few thousand dollars a year towards field maintenance, WHAT? How about permit fees only for use of the fields. Maybe if they charged the parents of the players another couple hundred dollars a year on top of all the other costs they could KICK in some money for field upkeep! Thistle won the field in a raffle at a Red Bulls v Barcelona game. Thistle then donated the field to Kearny along with $2000 to help install the field. Your first point is a lie. just because the strikers have some players and coaches that used to be with Thistle it does not make them former Thistle teams what it makes them is nothing more than former Thistle coaches and players not TEAMs! And to suggest that they should receive any credit for the turf is nuts! As far as asking about the asst. to the rec super, it just might explain why the rouge club is getting preferential treatment, like being selected as the team and organization to open the new futsal facility. Again lets be fair right? Why wasn't Thistle, who applied for and got the grant money years ago which even made that facility possible, invited to the ribbon cutting cermony? Boy are you wrong but you sounded so confidant. The field was won in a raffle at Giants stadium. Ok here we go Barcelona was playing at Giant stadium which we all know back then had astro turf. Barcelona would only play on grass so the field was put down for a one time only session. so as part of a promotion, I guess it was the Metro Stars at the time offered the field to teams who would by blocks of tickets for the game. the more tickets the club bought the more chances your club had. A number of Thistle teams attended the game and the organization won the field and offered it to the town. This was not the first time this was done at Giant stadium. The rec dept originally was reluctant to accept the field because of the installation cost. That is when Thistle made a monetary donation to the town to defray some of the costs. I am almost positive that the Observer had an article about all of this, And thats the facts JACK!
Guest stuckin
Kearny Strikers United(they are not Kearny United) is a rogue club formed by malcontents who did not want to follow the rules of their former club. They should not be given any preferential treatment. Let them find fields in NA to play on

Guest Guest
Anyone want to field this one? Seems like a fair question. Well this doesn't really matter anymore, does it? The town is redoing Harvey Field next fall, after soccer. Now both teams can fight with the Rec. Dept. for field time and leave the high school field for the high school students!
