Guest helpforharrison
The current redevelopment program is a bust for Harrison. Instead of concentrating on bringing business to Harrison, which would provide more tax dollars and less increase in service, the town has opted to go with a residential based plan. None of the towns services can handle an influx the proposed size. Nor will the town reap any tax benefit due to increase in school and municipal services that it will need. Also the town will not see a significant tax base from the stadium or parking deck due to the millions of dollars it will owe the county. This proposal should be taken off the board and the redevelopment should be offered to the best of three bidders the way it is supposed to be. Why this deal was only offered to one developer makes me wonder who is making out on this deal.
Guest Understand this
The current redevelopment program is a bust for Harrison. Instead of concentrating on bringing business to Harrison, which would provide more tax dollars and less increase in service, instead of bringing business to town they are running good businesses out of town. Look at Pechter, RCA, Hartz, the list goes on and on and how many businesses are going to lose their land with this redevelopment?? the town has opted to go with a residential based plan. None of the towns services can handle an influx the proposed size. Not to talk about our schools, but this mayor never had to worry about schooling his kids.... Nor will the town reap any tax benefit due to increase in school and municipal services that it will need. Don't forget to mention the tax breaks they are going to give the new office buildings for coming and investing in Harrison. Right now these people are paying taxes and they will have their land taken away, and their land will be given to some company who won't be paying taxes. Also the town will not see a significant tax base from the stadium or parking deck due to the millions of dollars it will owe the county. But it will see a property tax increase to pay off bonds and money owed to the countyThis proposal should be taken off the board and the redevelopment should be offered to the best of three bidders the way it is supposed to be.WELL THATS WHERE I DISAGREE WITH YOU. A REDEVELOPMENT IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE MANY DEVELOPERS. NOT THREE. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT 1/3 OF THIS TOWN. LETS HAVE A FEW SMALL DEVELOPERS, POSSIBLY SOME LOCAL DEVELOPERS AND HAVE SMALL PROJECTS CONTROLLED BY THE REDEVELOPMENT BOARD... THE WAY IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE. IF YOU SPLIT 1/3 OF THIS TOWN BY 3 DEVELOPERS, WHAT HAPPENS IF ONE FOLDS?? WE HAVE A POSSIBLE DISASTER. Why this deal was only offered to one developer makes me wonder who is making out on this deal.Well, the redevelopment has been given to 3 developers, Pegasis, Roseland Properties and I believe Allied Developers... Guest Guest
That hotel officially gave this town a whore house for all the political whores in town. The do nothing but pay each other off and steal from the towns people when ever they can. Get in their way and they do what they can to dispose of you. Guest MR. REDEVELOPMENT
This re-development board is going to get rid of Harrisons Tennis Courts. It's going to get rid of JFK Stadium. Don't you people have memories. I have Memories at the stadium. Stand UP TO THIS! We all play tennis on those courts. Lets fix up the town instead of just giving it away!!!! Guest Guest
We all have memories of what harrison use to be. Have you looked out your window latley to see what the town has become. You can't live on just memories. This town has been run down over the years and needs a facelift. I welcome new development and efforts by the town to come back and be a better place to live and raise my children. I've never seen a line of residents waiting to use the tennis courts and we are getting a new stadium. New tennis courts are being built also. Time moves on and the past is gone, the future is here and if we don't meet it we will become another run down abandoned town.
Guest Harrisonian_Guest
Read this article on the Newark Devil's Stadium: http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/index.ssf?/b...92141295531.xml If Newark's stadium is not viable without income from office complexes, how is the MetroStar stadium going to make it only on parking fees. Why hasn't Mayor McDonough released financial information to the public regarding how the stadium is going to be financed and how viable the stadium is? At least Mayor James put together a panel and is trying to be open about the finances.

When your paying 12,500 for your 30'x70' you'll be glad the MetroStars came to town!!!
Guest Guest
Complaining on this web page is fine, but is meaningless. To get your voice heard and to really have an effect, there are two ways. 1). Come out and vote on election day 2006 (PRIMARIES) and vote a whole new line. It doesn't do any good if you only change one name, even if it is the Mayors. 2). Take five minutes and complain to your state officials. Contact Your Federal Representatives Below Senator Jon S. Guest Guest
Don't blame the Democrats. This has been going on for so long that nothing will change it. Put the signs on your house and buy your cocktail party tickets when you are told. Who gave you permission to speak anyway. Crawl back into your hole and pay your taxes on time.
