a major election and voter fraud scandal

Voter suppression has always been around. However, the Republicans are the experts. Previous campaigns have shown that large numbers of voters have been disenfranchised due to erroneous felon lists or clerical mistakes.

We are now more aware of this because of the wide dissemination of this information through the internet.

Obama has a lot of campaign money. He should reserve a substantial amount for attorneys and travel expenses that may be needed after the election. One reason Republicans won Florida in 2000 was that the election they saturated the state with their attorneys and party hacks flown in from all over the country. They overwhelmed the local Gore campaign and all the local election boards.

It also helped them that the top Florida election official, Kathleen Harris, was Bush's Florida campaign co-chair.

A major voter fraud and election scandal is unfolding in the United States right now. The Republican party is trying to use illegal and unscrupulous methods to steal the election.

Don't believe me. Get the facts. I googled "suppress the vote." Below are links from the first 20 hits of 69,700. You can do the same, or just check and follow the links below.

You forgot ACORN. Also, of the 20 sites named, about half were blogs. Anyone can open a blog, and basically say whatever they want; absent libel. The others were the NY Times and Politico not exactly impartial dispensers of information in the current news cycle.

Paul, you're wasting everyone's time again. Took a couple minutes for me to check out the sites you mentioned, and I'll never get that time back. Just a sham(e). Get it, both words fit so nicely.

People can read. They can also make their own judgments about the push polling, the robo calls that Senator Collins (Republican) has asked McCain to stop, the intimidation techniques at the polls, the threatening letters and the like. We see this from the Republicans every election cycle, not some independent organization trying to register voters, but the Republican party itself. This is classic Rove politics, and it's well-documented.

There is no evidence that ACORN has done anything wrong. There is only evidence of individual workers turning in false forms. That's inevitable in a campaign that has registered 1.3 million people.

The Republicans pull this crap every election. They allege widespread voter fraud, but when it's investigated, there's no evidence of it. Show me the evidence of widespread and systematic fraud (not just isolated examples of false forms), then I'll change my mind.

Another point worth noting is that ACORN has 13,000 canvassers. What is the chance of hiring 13,000 workers without having a few bad apples in the bunch? Pretty much none. All you can do is to discourage bad behavior, and take action to correct it when it does happen. So far, there is every indication that ACORN has made reasonable efforts to do that. In 2004, they had some canvassers make up bogus registrations in order to get more money, since they were paid per registration. So this year, they pay by the hour. But to ensure that they don't have workers ripping them off by logging hours that they spent sitting around twiddling their thumbs or smoking cigarettes, they have quotas that have to be met in order to stay employed. Unfortunately, the bad apples are still gaming the system. Instead of making bogus registrations to cheat ACORN out of the per-piece payments, they make bogus registrations, or they give cigarettes to street people for filing bogus registrations, in order to cheat ACORN out of wages for time spent doing something other than their jobs.

Really, right-wingers. Are you so mind-bogglingly stupid that you think ACORN actively encourages its workers to cheat it out of money? Are you so mind-bogglingly stupid that you think that obviously bogus registrants like Mickey Mouse, or the Dallas Cowboys (in Nevada, at that) are part of some nefarious plan to have someone actually show up at the polls and try to vote with those registrations? That requires no ordinary level of stupid. It requires over-the-top, hair on fire from trying to light the grill with gasoline stupid. Pecker caught in the drainpipe stupid. Drivers license left at the scene of the crime stupid.

Because of the freedom of speech in the country, anyone can right and post up on the internet just about anything they like, correct or incorrect. As example by the tripe you posted the past year about your son. I believe that the American people are smart enough and intelligent enough to know right from wrong. And for the record I am not your fellow American. I have no dealings with you so therefore do not associate me in that category. While you were at it why not put all 69,700 of the hits on it. After all this is a website called Kearny on the Web; not" Paul LaClair’s attack on the Republican party".

What ever happened about posting something about this town? You try to make this your own sounding board since you obviously have nothing better to do with you life now.

Its not his sounding board. Most of us are interested in these issues. What happens nationally affects everyone locally.

And who said that Kearny on the Web postings should be restricted to local town issues? That would make for a rather boring forum.

If you're so worried about the lack of local town postings, then why don't you post something? I'm sure you can find something local to whine about.

You do realize that 2dim makes a good five or six times more non-Kearny-related topics on this board than Paul, right?

Don't be a fool.
