I'm all for having the HPD getting new squad cars (if they were needed?), but what is up with the POLICE design on their sides? It looks like someone was bored and came up with the idea using WordArt. The black looks nice but the side graphics ruin it. Should have taken an example from the Kearny Police Department, they used nice solid colors with red accents. Why could we have not done the same with blue? Looks tacky, imho.

I could care less what color police cars are, just as long as they get here if

I need them. They could be sky blue pink for all I care.

The reason most towns do not have black and white police cars is because of the added cost. It cost $800. more per vehicle to paint them black and white. This should not be a priority item. Take a look at Kearny's cars. White with a nice emblem on them. Harrison has 9 vehicles times $800 = $7,200. This could be used more effectively by buying much needed portable radio's so that officers can communicate with HQ when their out of a car on a job.

Actually the white cars came as a result of the State Bid system for Police Vehicles back in 1990 or so. It used to be that State Bid Vehicles could be painted Two-tone, as Harrison, and Kearny Both had at the time (IIRC Harrison was Black/White, and Kearny was Navy/White). When the State Bid went to All white, so did the departments that bought cars under that system. Now, there's a choice, so many depeartments are going back to the Traditional Markings. Personally, I'd like to see the cars go back to Two-tone, but i'm somewhat of a traditionalist.

YOU ARE INCORRECT. HARRISON HASN'T HAD BLACK AND WHITE CARS FOR OVER 40 YEARS. THEY HAD GREEN CARS WHEN RODGERS WAS MAYOR AND FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS THEY HAVE BEEN WHITE WITH VARIOUS EMBLEMS ON THE SIDES. One Chief, after the riots in Newark, went to all unmarked cars to avoid injury to Officers who might be targeted. This was unwise and soon after they went to marked cars. Black and white looks nice, but the added expense takes its toll on the police budget. The money saved could be used for some equipment that is needed. The new Chief has gotten new furnituure for his office, a secretary and now black and white cars. WHAT HAS HE DONE FOR THE PATROL DIVISION? We know he has taken care of the PBA Officials to avoid any grievances, but lets recognize the work done by the backbone of the PD. B)

Kearny Cops need to watch and learn from the Harrsion Police, it takes two (2) to three (3) Kearny cops to sit in their police cars (when they should be out of the car) to watch the construction going on in front of where the new Wal-Mart is going???? Is it necessary for that many cops for a strectch of like 200 feet?? Whenever there is construction going on in Harrison it only takes ONE (1) Harrison Police Officer, yeah that is correct I said ONE (1) . You should becareful how you talk about these Officers you may need them some day.

Who cares what the cars look like, and what do we care if they trash them, eat in them, smoke in them? They have to drive around in them. Worry about you own office and they will worry about theirs. Be grateful for the ones who really care and the ones who are dedicated.

these cops are hired by the construction people on there on time, its overtime for the cop when they are out there, so there not wasting your so called tax dollars ( thats even if u pay any ) and y u so worried about how many cops are out there? must of been one of people that failed the test to be crying about this .

Yea right, I'm sure the Kearny Pd can learn a lot from the Harrison PD. In fact, I bet the Harrison Cops got higher test scores on the Civil Service Promotion Tests. Oh, I forgot, they didn't have any tests for Chief and Deputy Chief. Oh, Maybe they did. Whoever bent over on the 3rd floor got the job. :D:P:P

I'd say Kearny Cops HAVE learned a Lot from HPD..they havent split their Union, they dont publicly trash each other in an open board, and air their dirty laundry...HPD can teach VOLUMES on what NOT to do.

Hey Studies and Observations: stay on the Kearny Web and mind your own business about the HPD. We are much better then the KPD. None of our officers went to jail for brutality like one of yours. B);)

WHAT ABOUT THE ONE THAT GOT KICKED OFF THE FORCE FOR DRUGS

That was the fault of the Mayor and Council who voted to bring him back after the arbitrator and the Police Chief recommended he be terminated when he was caught DD in Kearny. B);)

Last I looked none of the Kearny guys ever got nabbed by the Prosecutor's Office for Narcotics..of course that was AFTER that certain Officer had a Domestic Violence conviction expunged from his record...not to mention a DUI arrest right at the time he was hired.
