It has the same structure as an organized crime family except that the FD operates openly and makes more money. The FD has a boss that answers to no one, more Captains than any crime family in history and both are no work jobs. Watch the Sopranos as they sit around doing nothing at no work construction jobs. Then look at the FD sitting around doing nothing but watching TV, barbecuing and throwing a football around at their no work jobs. No difference at all! The Firefighters sleep most of the time while the mobsters stay awake trying to make money so the mobsters actually do more! Kearny should welcome organized crime & go to a volunteer FD. Your only defense is to claim the commenter is crazy. You want to protect this welfare because you benefit from it. I understand it was who they knew or who they **** to get junior out of the basement but it doesn't negate the facts. Paid Firefighting is white men's welfare. It's taxpayer funded charity driven by greed, patronage and nepotism. Anyone from teenagers to senior citizens could be a paid Firefighter. It requires little to no intelligence and the vast majority of Firefighters are in poor physical condition. The West Hudson Firefighters have a horrendous record of saving property. I doubt that they've ever saved a life. People have died in several fires that were very common. Might be the response time from waking up from a dead sleep? Maybe they didn't want to be tired for their primary job? Maybe a lack of effort because they don't live in town and the people are strangers? No matter what the reason for the complete failures a volunteer department would be better. $20 million extra a year saved on charity salaries could do a lot for any town.
