Guest Guest
It's amazing to see that Harrison Police Officer Darren Raefski risked his life to stop a career criminal from victimizing the good people of Harrison. He enacted a daring arrest that ended with the apprehension of a violent criminal. In my opinion, the HPD is suffering from a severe manpower shortage and rock bottom morale due to a selfish and weak union. Promotions are more important than hiring more Officers. The town is lucky if they have ** Officers on duty at any time to protect 20,000 residents. The crime is becoming worse and if several incidents happen at once or an incident that requires a large Police presence the residents had better hope that Newark, Kearny or E. Newark Police are available. Edited August 23, 2016 by KOTW Content.

Guest VRG
Officer Raefski is 1 of the best officers on the HPD. He should be in the Detective Bureau.
Guest Guest
It is a good thing that Officer Raefski had civilians to assist him in taking down this violent criminal. It's also a sad and dangerous testament of the HPD that other Officers may not have been available to back him up. I wonder if any other Officers were working? Perhaps the fact that there are so few Officers on duty at any one time that backup wasn't available at all? The PBA Union has no power and no push for adequate manpower to protect the citizens. Their only motivation is for personal gain. It's a dangerous situation created by selfish Supervisory personnel. A pathetic ** to ** Police Officers protecting 20,000 residents is dangerous. The PBA golf outings and other activities aren't putting Officers on the street. It's good times and high salaries for the PBA but a dangerous crisis for the residents. Guest Orcal
The Town of Harrison is rated 85 out of 100 of the top crime rates in NJ. Kearny is worst. According to FBI Uniform Crime reports. Edited August 25, 2016 by KOTW KOTW has not verified the above.
