Guest Akbar
A lady with a baby in distress has to run to the Harrison Fire House and bang on the door to shake the Firefighters out of a deep sleep. The HFD Heroes give the baby a few breathes then must call a REAL ambulance and EMT's to save the baby! A bragging Fire Captain states that the HFD has a fully stocked ambulance. Does it not have wheels? Are the Smoke Eaters not allowed to drive it? It's Harrison's pathetic way of using the 911 system. A resident calls the HFD with a medical emergency then has to bring the person to the Fire House for the FF to call an ambulance? It's a disgrace that the residents pay these Firefighters well over $100,000 year plus benefits and the Firefighters refuse to provide ambulance service. SMH! WTF? Guest Studies and Observations
Didn't Harrison F D guve up the Ambulance some time ago? If they no longer provide that service (which is contracted to a private ambulance service) why would you assume that they would have the means to transport someone now? Ambulances have to maintain certifications just as EMTS do, if the trucks haven't been used they can't legally transport anyone.
Guest Akbar
Why would a group of $100,000 to $150,000/year Firefighters that essentially have a no work jobs "give up" the ambulance duties? Are they still getting extra EMT pay? Why was this allowed? The Firefighters were providing ambulance service to the Harrison residents for a very long time as part of their job. Harrison residents are now paying exorbitant rates for an outside ambulance company. What was the reason that Harrison Firefighters were allowed to deny the residents ambulance service? My opinion is that they demanded MORE MONEY and when the greedy Firefighters demands weren't met they decided that the people who pay their salaries might as well go to hell and find someone else to do the job. It's an outrage that the Mayor and Council allow this dangerous situation. Higher taxes, inferior municipal services and employees picking and choosing what the will and will NOT do is the reason people are leaving this once proud town.
