The $1.5 million pays only for one year and could have been spent more wisely. The taxpaying public will pay for the next 25 or 30 years of 100K (and over) salaries, BMW Class health benefits, promotions, vacation days, personal days, sick days, uniforms, dry cleaning, beds, pillows, big screen TV's and cable, appliances, laptops and Wi-Fi, lawsuits and eventual disability pensions. Then there's Captains pay, Batallion Chiefs pay, Dep. Chiefs pay and Chiefs pay. How many bosses does a 100 person Fire Department need? Do any of them live in Kearny? If so, for how long? Those taxpayer funded salaries will NOT be used to stimulate the local economy, that's for sure. The newly hired sleeper cells do not reflect Kearnys rapidly growing African American and Hispanic population. Current residents looking to sell their Kearny home for a profit are the biggest losers.
