Guest Taxpayer
From the start of his tenure as Mayor it is interesting what at one time he fought against is now included in his decisions. Example when running for Mayor he was opposed to privatizing our water and that when the dust cleared he quietly pushed threw a privatization plan without any fanfare. Lets not forget his platform of not raising Property Taxes. RESULT Taxes have gone up every year he has been Mayor and will go up again this year!!!!!!!! The sad result of this adminstration is that services have been reduced while taxes have increased and there are grave concerns as far as public safety with the Police Department at it lowest numbers in staffing and its effect on crime and safety. Also the public needs to be aware of several downgrades in the Town's Credit Rating leading to higher interest rates in the bonding process. With no opposition in the Election Process why change anything that this Mayor and Council is doing with the public just giving them a blank check. As a lifelong resident of this community there are GRAVE concerns that at some point will result a revolt by the property owners, The town cannot continue to be managed like an ATM Machine with money being taken at the expense of the Bank Holders IE THE TAXPAYERS. Sad to say we'll have to put up with it until someone has the sense to run against this MAYOR and COUNCIL, LETS HOPE ITS SOON!!!!!!!!! Guest Guest
Troll, no one likes him. He only wins because there is no one else. Oh, come on. He has been in office for a long time. The reason no one runs against him is that they can't beat him. And the reason that they can't beat him is that he does a good job, and we like him. The results speak for themselves. Guest Guest
Remember when he had nothing good to say about any public employees and instead of weeding out the bad ones he trashed everyone! Then he became a county employee! Does he work till 5 pm? I am sure he most certainly gives back his vacation, reports to work on holidays and will never take a raise! Lol. He will run so he loves the title! Mayor of Menaceville
Guest guest
Since Santos became mayor he has raised taxes 133%. If you went to the Board of Education Budget Hearing that fact was shown to the public. Every new fire truck and police vehicle are part of bond. We will still be paying the bond and the equipment will be out dated or scrapped. And how about those pilot plans! Every developer is offered a pilot plan. And makes a payment instead of paying taxes. Read the Observer articles concerning pilots. Who pick up the tab on taxes? The taxpayer! Santos will be elected again because people vote the name. Would kearny vote for a person named Smith or Brown? Think about it.

There really arent enough Republicans in town to mount a challenge, and no Democrat will run against him because he's part of the Machine.... He's there until he pisses off someone in Jersey City, or someone they like better wants to challenge. This is Hudson County.
Guest Derek
Lets start our own group! We start with getting members on the Board of education & move on to council members & so on. Kearny needs to change or else good residents will leave this town.

I remember when Henry Hill was running for Re-Election for a 4th term and everyone thought he was a shoe in against Danny Sansone, well when you get over confident you get cocky and think your unbeatable. This is the mind set of this Current Mayor Santos and Town Council. The Public is tired of the same old, same old and with Good People leaving Kearny because Taxes are out of control, our School System is in a shambles, the public has had enough of SANTOS, DOYLE, McCURRIE, ECKEL,CIFELLI-SHERRY the DEPUTY MAYOR and SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER. They have been in to long its time for them to be Challenged and be held accountable for the mess they've done to this town. With taxes going up every year they have been in office and TOWN SERVICES GOING DOWN. How can they justify saying they are moving KEARNY forward when all they have done is go backwards with TAXES going up every year and SERVICES DOWN (PAYING MORE FOR LESS). Just a footnote on the HILL/ SANSONE Election, SANSONE won in a landside and HENRY HILL became an after thought so remember people timing is everything and now is the time to WAKE THIS TOWN UP!!! KEARNY IS READY FOR CHANGE!!!!!!!! LETS TAKE OUR WORDS AND TURN THEM INTO ACTION!!!!!!!!!!
Guest Danny
AGREED! Being too cocky is not good. Look at other town mayors JC/WNY/Bayonne/ the old administration were cocky but the residents wanted change and they got it done!!! Mayor Santos might have change Kearny when he took office for the first few years but I think now Kearny needs a change. A fresh new face and ideas for the town.. Guest Taxpayer
Let's take a look at Mayor Santos. He is not a tax payer. He does not own a home in Kearny. He promised not to raise taxes when he ran for mayor. He said 1% would be too much of a raise. But, he has raised taxes 133% since being mayor. The council rubber stamps all his wish list. It was good to see one member say no to Sunday working on the new BJ site. Good for you Rich. We need someone to take on the fight of running against Santos. Mr. Mayor, as you see the people of Kearny are happy.

Mayor Santos, Payed County Employee Councilwoman Carol Jean Doyle,Payed County Employee Councilwoman Susan McCurrie,Payed County Employee Councilwoman Eileen Eckel, Public Sector Employee Deputy Mayor Barbara Cifelli-Sherry, Payed Freeholder Aide to her brother with many family employed Councilman Michael Landi, Public Sector Employee It appears it pays to be a public offical and the people we trust to oversee Kearny seem to have the time to work in secure County and Public Sector Positions. I would assume they had an advantage over all the many unemployed people in Kearny who didn't have an opportunity because they don't have the same clout as these Public Officals. These Officals have no problem raising Property Taxes because they can afford to pay them with their secure incomes while the rest of the Town Struggles to make ends meet. Self interest Officals like these are hurting Kearny I believe bcause they have a vested interest in preserving their personal ambitions. Its time to organize and start building a grass roots effort to start telling the truth about the workings of Kearny. People need to stand up and SHOUT and start expressing their displeasure with a group at Council Meetings and let our voices be heard. Guest guest
It appears that you are unemployed or looking for a part-time job. The Mayor and Council are all part-time positions. They all have or had full time jobs. If you are unhappy with their performance run for office. But, if you are employed give up your job so you can dedicate your time to Kearny when and if you get elected. By the way, the BOE Members are not paid. They put in a lot of time. Actions speak louder than words.

If the Mayor had a Full-time in the private sector it would be different but he is on the county & city payroll....... Kearny needs a change! Guest C. Kearny
How dare you berate the Most Honorable Mayor Alberto Santos! He has provided the residents with an expensive Fire Dept. that consists of members who are better than the people of Kearny. These brave heroes won't live amongst those who pay their salaries and are in town no more than 2 days a week to sleep and collect their white men's welfare check. Why would you want anything else? Rising taxes, rampant crime, low property values and town employees sleeping at their "job." Great combo!
