Take-over of Website

I noticed that there is little Kearny news on this website, anymore. The boring incessant "you know it's a myth" discussions/rants on the existence or non-existence of God, religion in the public square, etc. as well as general discussions on climate change etc. have just about totally eliminated and pushed out local Kearny news. The last relevent post alluded to West Hudson Park. Isn't there some way to keep this website open for just Kearny news such as Town activities and politics, the local Board of Education, and discussions/critiques/accolades of local politicians and events in town?

Topics draw interest as people are inclined to read and write on them. Even now, you can catch up to a month ago on the first page. There's nothing onerous or burdensome about it. And if it was boring, people wouldn't be paying so much attention to it. I happen to think religion and climate change are important issues, and that religion is an issue that has come up in Kearny before, and could again. Climate change is not specific to Kearny but it does affect everyone.

The rabid atheist that spends all his free time posting his nonsense here is who you're referring to. His anger and hostility is so typical of atheists who put up billboards every Christmas mocking God and Christianity. It's clear proof that a lack of religion in one's life leads to anger and hostility. These people need to be pitied and prayed for.

I'm fed up with nonsense. The take-no-prisoners approach has a certain appeal.

Yet you can't think of a single thing to say in response to any of the points.

Meanwhile, you mock atheists. You're so biased, you don't even realize you're doing the same thing, actually worse. At least the critic(s) is/are saying something.

"Lack of religion in ones life leads to anger and hostility". Funniest post ever. Ever hear of the Westover Baptist Church, the IRA, Islam? Religion has certainly made those followers far more peaceful.

So open topics that you think are more appropriate. Frankly, these other topics are more interesting than the everyday town gossip. Without them, KOTW would be close to dead.

Over the past couple of years the Primary topics have descended to, Christians and Atheists warring, The Firemen/Cops are overpaid and S**K, No matter WHICH Faction on the Board of Ed is in power..it S**ks and doesnt care about the Children, and OBama is a Diety/Obama is the Debbil probably 95% of posts fall into one of those Categories. One one hand I applaud the Site Owner for resisting rigid Registration..OTOH it also makes it easy for people to come play Witty, Edgy, A-hole games without fear of being called on it.....nevermind the positively Poisonous Allegations made about people.

So you've bought the meme: Christians versus atheists. Only it's not. I challenge you to find one topic in the past year where the OP argues for atheism. It's Christians and their critics.

But you bought the meme. Repeat a lie often enough, and people will believe it.

The boring incessant "you know it's a myth" discussions/rants on the existence or non-existence of God . . .

The reason I thought the American Atheists' billboard saying "you know it's a myth" was so brilliant is that it cut to the core of truth. These stories are not about anything that is real. The Son of God wouldn't be born in a known location, with angels telling people about it, and stars showing kings where to find him (and Herod somehow can't), then disappear from public sight for thirty years, in the location of his birth . . . and on and on. There are just so many things in this story that don't make any sense at all.

"You know it's a myth" cuts to the core of what people really do know, deep down inside, whether they will admit it or not. It focuses on the real issue, which is how these stories came to be and how they persist.

And the reason for repetition is that people will resist an inconvenient truth like crazy. You have to keep hammering on it. People won't like you for doing it, but gradually, the message will sink in. Maybe not to everyone, but to enough.

If you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it. The same thing is true of truths that people do not want to accept. What will keep the truth from being accepted is if people are afraid to say it for fear of offending someone.

If people are willing to speak it, and keep speaking, eventually, you can't stop the truth.
