Kearny Firefighter Awards Nonsense

I read somewhere that two Kearny Firefighters got an award for creative writing concerning an alleged dangerous fire. I don't believe it as the people they allegedly rescued were other Kearny Firefighters. It's easy to fabricate a story like this because the real truth will never be known. My interpretation is that all of Kearnys superhero professional (OMG! LOL!) Firefighters were fully awake and alert as always when a raging inferno that would rival a volcanic eruption set off the state of the art alarm system and these brave heroes responded forthwith towards this certain life or death global catastrophic event, arriving within 10 seconds of the alarm.

These incredible egomaniacs responded with only each other as brothers on their side because it's not about the money, medical benefits, longevity pay, boat payments, bonuses, extra money for being an E.M.T., sleeping at work, high percentage raises every year or a hefty lifetime pension and medical package. Firefighting is a genetic gift that few possess. It's a calling by a higher power and not just an unskilled, uneducated job handed to them by nepotism and patronage. The Kearny FD, in my estimate, is about 50% Captains or higher in rank out of absolute necessity and not political gifts from friends of mommy and daddy or mommy and daddy themselves.

These men of sheer will and determination fought this possible geographic changing disaster using air tanks, fireproof bunker gear, hurst tools, halogen tools, axes, picks, scotty packs, 200 pounds of gear on their backs, fire engines, trucks, personal Battalion Chief and Chief high end vehicles, sheer will and determination, superhuman strength, every single day training and thousands of gallons of water in their efforts. The bravest (LOL!) risk their lives in this searing blaze in a two story ordinary blaze reaching 1000 degrees that included a backdraft, a flashover, heavy smoke, flames licking at the atmosphere near outer space limits, explosions, and brutal weather in a defensive attack. In other words, they spayed water on it from a 100% safe distance. WOW! SO AMAZING! Every Firefighter whether there or not deserves a $50,000 bonus each. It's only taxpayer money so who cares?

Why towns like Kearny and Harrison still have paid Fire Departments should shock even the dumbest taxpayer. Volunteers could easily replace these G.E.D. educated brats gifted with these 24 hour sleepovers that cost the taxpayers tens of millions of dollars over the years. The elaborate and ornate Fire Houses are equipped with amenities that would rival an expensive resort with the latest technology that is not affordable to the residents who pay these Firefighter salaries. Very few of them live in Kearny or Harrison but stake in doing a good job because the taxpayers are not friends or neighbors, but rather donors to the out of town Firefighters who demand entitlement to lavish lifestyles. The pension obligations are a disease. College students, senior citizens, and people collecting unemployment while looking for a job could readily do a better job at this simple task of using a large garden hose to douse a fire. The salaries, benefits, and debt load are preventing towns like Kearny and Harrison from using those millions to lower taxes, improve infrastructure and parks, and create wellness programs for senior citizens, children and families. The $100,000 and up salaries are killing upward trajectory home values, taxpayer personal savings, college saving and much more. It's slowly changing but too slow to notice. Volunteers are the answer to improved fiscal health of these towns.

So good to see Barney back and bitter as ever. Barney has wanted to become a Kearny firefighter for years now and was never able to make the grade.

I hope Barney finds happiness in his life and is able to put all his anger and bitterness behind him. And here's an FYI for you Barney, the citizens of

Kearny appreciate our FD and sleep well at night knowing they're minutes away.
