Wow, total turn around in Doran, Lowry & Lindenfelser Campaign. October 10th ad in the Observer said they were running for 3 things, A permanent Superintendent, a High School Principal and an Asst. Superintendent. Now that the BOE, after months of interviewing candidates, has finally found a QUALIFIED Super and a High School Principal the campaign has now changed !!!

Now their whole campaign has changed to attacks and lies. Last weeks ad was pulled after the candidate was introduced to the public. This weeks ad totally revamped with Childish remarks about the board "majority". Their whole campaign stinks horribly. Once again, it's all about the power, as the reference to attacking the board "majority", the position which they MISS so badly. The whole ad filled with LIES. These puppets strings are being pulled by many behind the scenes as their noses grow longer !!!

Their attacks and lies:

1- Bad Decisions - Just their opinion, the BOE has been making bad decisions for years prior to the FAB 5, or as they have now referred to them as "the board majority", arriving and doing what is right and not being TOLD what to do.

2- Secret Agendas - absolute lie, they know what they have done for years and just think "everyone" does what they did.

3- Questionable motives and behavior - now they are certified psychiatrist's, I think they are nuts !!! Want to talk about questionable motives, how about Doran's mother getting a nurses job without *************? How about his brother working in Schools without a ********** ******? How about Lowry getting her daughter a ********** ******** job and skipping over many, many people who were ******** for years and her daughter never subbed a day? Now wants a full time job? How about Lindenfelser going to get *** ** back as BOE attorney?

4- No Communication - More information is made PUBLIC than ever before!!! More people attend BOE meetings than ever before, because information that can be made public IS made public. No "back room" deals made on hirings. The current board "minority" constantly has their "secret" meetings to plan their attacks at meetings, anything they can do to "stall" Board business. One of the Veteran minority members purposely holds info to grandstand in public all the time.

The Board "majority" is doing clean up work. That is exactly what the board "majority" has been doing all last year. Cleaning up the mess caused by prior Boards and prior Administration.

So don't be FOOLED by the Pinocchio Campaign. The Board of Ed has not come off the rails, the only thing that has DERAILED is their way of Control and Power and they want it back !!!

I hope you're kidding. You actually think the candidate that was introduced for the Super job is qualified? Please come back to earth. The five are a joke. The board president doesn't even show at meetings, Plaugic just wants to hang on until his son gets tenure, and let's not even get started on Lead's motivations for being on the board.

Wowee. It's hard to know where to start with this one cause there's just so much absolute fiction in it. While I understand there can sometimes be a difference of opinion, you are absolutely in lala land with your lame, sorry argument. NO secret agendas? NO bad decisions? MORE communication? And the Fab 5 and Bolandi to take credit for test scores? And to blame Lowry for the curriculum tanking . . . Let's not forget that the curriculum at the High School level was the responsibility of *** *******, who unfortunately paid more attention to his personal life than his professional duties over the years. This is stupid and it's a lie. Lowry, Lindenfelser and Doran have been CONSISTENT in their position that Baumgarten should have been kept on. They have NOT changed their position. YOU are LYING. Dr. Baumgarten was very well qualified and had done a good job. It was the FIVE STOOGES who LIED when they said they had someone better to replace her. If they had someone, then why do we still have no one? Meanwhile, Kearny looks ridiculous. Anyone looking for a house in Kearny will see this and go somewhere else. And that affects all of us, not to mention the damage it has done to the school system. If L, L and D had been on the Board and in the majority, we wouldn't be in this mess, and that is a fact.

That said, and with all due respect, your policy makes no sense, at least in the way you've applied it. You say that the comment was edited because it is too personal in nature. Yet you published Castelli's name and published enough content that anyone can know exactly what was said. If your intent is to not publish comments that are "too personal," the way to do that is to eliminate enough, or all, of the content, so that the message doesn't get through.

The reason for deleting a few letters of content is to prevent the publication of words that are thought to be inappropriate for public airing. The debate over whether that makes sense is beside the point. Your remedy doesn't achieve your stated purpose.

On the merits, I strongly disagree with your policy. The public has a right to discuss the behavior and public conduct of elected officials. We are entitled to call our elected officials to account for their behavior. When a public official attends public meetings, where he is required to exercise judgment on behalf of the community, his ********, or "condition," if you prefer that euphemism, is not just personal to him, it is a legitimate public concern. If a Board member had been a convicted felon, would you publish that? How about if an elected official had been confined to a rehab facility for chronic alcoholism? How do you draw an intelligent line? I don't think you've drawn it anywhere close to the right place. I can understand withholding scurrilous commentary that has no basis in fact. (This particular comment has ample basis in fact.) But then you become the arbiter of what? Not truth because the comment you edited is true. And there have been plenty of scurrilous attacks posted against plenty of people on this site, unedited. Check some of your most frequented topics if you need a reminder. It's your site, so you can do as you please, but I think it would make more sense for you to call people to account for what they write by publishing their identities and doing some minimal fact-checking to see to it that KOTW doesn't just become a platform for slander, which it often is anyway - and anonymous slander to boot, which only encourages reckless commentary. Excellent argument, although if you force people to reveal their identities, that will be the end of this forum. Regardless as to whether they knowingly are posting lies or untruths or exaggerations, even those who are posting their heartfelt observations will be reticent to expose themselves in such a public way. I've had my argument with the webmaster about his absolute refusal to post an incident involving an elected official and member of the police force - that is, absolutely, true. Since he runs the site, there's not much that can be done. However, the little bits and pieces and "teases" that are allowed to be posted - with little or NO fact checking - are a direct contradiction to the policy. Truth is truth and slander is slander and I suppose it is a difficult task to ask that each post be thoroughly vetted.
