Guest Kearny Exit Posted June 2, 2012 Report Share Posted June 2, 2012 Mayor Al Santos suggested that current contract negotiations between the union and the town should focus on the department's salary structure, which enables a new firefighter hired for approximately $30,000 to attain a salary of $98,000 in seven years.THIS IS JUST SALARY.Add in healthcare and what is the true number? Way too expensive in this financial environment.With unemployment in town north of 10%,something has to give.As we all know,the unions feel as if it's their right to demand these type of salaries.
