The same Newt Gingrich who took $1.8 million from Freddie Mac to lobby on their behalf so they could continue to finance billions in risky mortgage loans which then set off the worst recession since the Great Depression. (It's preposterous for him to say that he took their money to give them "history" lessons.)

The same Newt Gingrich that did an advertisement with Nancy Pelosi on climate change.

The same Newt Gincrich who supported individual mandates on health care in the 1990s and in a television interview earlier this year.

The same Newt Gingrich who voted to impeach President Clinton while involved in an adulterous relationship and while his then wife was fighting cancer.

As an Obama supporter, I very much want Gingrich to be the nominee.

I didn't see "generic candidate" at the Republican debate Saturday night. I saw Mitt Romney wanting to make a $10,000 bet with Perry, Romney calling Gingrich a "bomb thrower" and Newt Gingrich rationalizing the $1.8 million he got from Freddie Mac with, "I was in the private sector." The Republican audience's groan at Gingrich's rationalization tells you how unbelievable that was.
