MrHarrison
On Thursday, February 18, 2010 the Mayor and Council will hold a special meeting at 12:30pm to introduce an ordinance to create the position of Traffic Control Officer at a maximum pay rate of $25.00 per hour. In the economic turmoil that has befallen Harrison (due to poor fiscal management on behalf of everyone in Town Hall), and 40+ people being laid off, the town will be creating new jobs (presumably for traffic control at the Red Bulls stadium). What happened to the hiring freeze?

What happened to the hiring freeze? Why is the town paying for traffic control at the stadium? I don't see any traffic control officers at Giant stadium, the Rock, or the Izod Center. It is their responsibility to control parking and traffic. This is part of the reason Harrison is broke. Taxpayers paying for services at Red Bull is bull. Taxpayers paying for services at Red Bull is bull. You should voice your opinion at this special meeting at Noon tommorrow. The Mayor does not realize that people are working to provide for their families and pay their taxes. NOT EVERYONE HAS THOSE PUBLIC SECTOR JOBS LIKE THE MAYOR AND MOST OF THE COUNCIL LARRY - PVSC MIKE - HARRISON BOE FRANCISCO - HARRISON BOE JIMMY - HARRISON BOE RAY - PVSC CAROL - STATE OF NJ JESUS - HARRISON BOE

This is not only one position it is several positions to work the traffic when games being held, maybe up to 10 part time positions as per the Mayor, he said he will take care of this himself, like he always does. This is the reason we are in the state of bandruptcy.

Paying for part time traffic control officers on the days that the Red Bulls Stadium is in use is a pragmatic way to address this problem. Would you rather pay regular police officers $60. per hour to do the same job? The Police Chief has to be in favor of this program.
