Guest Loki
Most of the voters have expressed "apprehension" about the healthcare bill, feeling that it is a bit too broad. On this wave in rides Brown in Massachusetts. My question is, if this bill is SO good, why did Landrieu, Nelson, and others need to be "BRIBED"? If the bill was so good on its own, it should have required no sweeteners whatsoever. Regardless of your opinions on the bill, it is a fact that people needed to be persuaded to vote for it. (Not our Senators, though, they lined up early, and for free.)

If it were up to repubs THERE WOULDN"T BE MEDICARE. repubs were against in the 60's just like they are today with their typical fear mongering about socialism. http://thinkprogress.org/2009/07/29/medicare-flashback/ BTW I lived in a "socialist" society for over 30 years. I received free meals, clothes, healthcare, dental, housing, entertainment, our own shopping malls, free travel and I was paid too. It wasn't bad. If the left is loonies, the right are ruinies. repubs have ruined our economy and our now hope Americans get amnesia.

If the Socialist society that you lived in for 30 years was so great, why did you leave? You talk of fear mongering, do the terms "worst economy since the Great Depression" ring a bell? Remember, it wasn't Obama that "saved" the banking industry, that was done before he was elected. The Republicans may have been against Medicare in the 60's, they probably saw it as a bloated government run program, which if you look at its current state is true. But, without the Republicans the Civil Rights Act would never have passed, so if they needed Republican votes to pass this, who (which party) would have been standing in the way??? I already know the answer.

The "socialist" society I lived in that provided all that free care, food, clothing, housing, etc, was the US Army. I retired with over 30 years. BTW topic is healthcare not civil rights. repubs opposed medicare - fact.

No one who put 30 years in the military has these ridiculous lefist views (unless you were friends with Major Hassan). If the best you can do is go back to the 60's trying to make a point, you've already lost. If you are ex-military, which I don't believe, you'll enjoy the bloodbath coming in Nov. Come on, Loki. Senators play politics and vote against good bills all the time. Republicans are bribed every day by the corporate interests they shill for. You know better than to ask a dumb question like that.

Typical right winger. Can't process new information that doesn't fit with his biases.
