Did you pledge your support for Chairman Obama today? Right out of the Mao playbook, Chairman Obama wants school children accross the U.S. to pledge their support and vow to help him as Chairman.

My kids are staying home next Tues., we'll watch Fox News on TV instead.

Yeah, you sure wouldn't want 'em exposed to any of that liberal propaganda about staying in school, working hard, and making something of themselves, and how important that is for the future of their country. I can see why you'd be scared of that. A well educated populace with well developed reasoning skills would be a disaster for the Republican Party's "conservative base", who's ideology is wholly dependent upon ignorance and credulity. You really should be shaking in your boots over this, 2smart. Your dream of America as a backwards 3rd world theocracy could become a lost cause if Obama manages to inspire America's kids to achieve their full potential. Oh the tragedy.

You've got the right idea about how to deal with it, though. But it's nearly impossible to protect your children's ignorance and credulity all the time, especially in places like schools and libraries, where they're certain to be exposed to subversive influences (science, for example). Perhaps you should consider locking them in your basement and not allowing them any visitors other than immediate family.

Here's an idea. Why don't you use that time to do your own research instead of relying on FOX. God, I feel sorry for your kids.

You really can't help yourself, can you? Please direct us to the specific aspect of the President's agenda for next week where he asks for a "pledge of support." His address is going to be about the importance of staying in school and furthering your education.

You know....there are several prominent Republicans that are calling for all of this B.S. to stop.

Grow up.

You don't have kids. Nobody is going to marry some low-income loser who lives with his parents.

Meant to say nobody would "procreate" with a loser like you. **

You have it backwards, BillyBoy. "staying in school, working hard and making something of themselves" happens to be Republican Conservative values. "Sharing the wealth" (of Republicans) which you've heard Obama spout many times is the primary loony left value.

You are such an arrogant, pompous ass! No matter what anyone says, you always make some stupid response that has nothing to do with what was said and nothing to do with the truth.

Obama is going to tell schoolchildren about the importance of "staying in school, working hard and making something of themselves." If you really cared about those values, you would be supporting him. But your hatred for this man is so all-consuming that you've completely forgotten what you think you stand for.

So in the end, you don't stand for anything except whatever hatred and screed you've decided to spew at us all.

Enough, already! We are sick to death of you.

He can't possibly have a job considering he's posting the whole day. He is either a low income loser living with parents or some old Sad Sack in a nursing home.

His bitterness tells me he's not getting any.

You are truly despicable. Barack Obama is OUR president. That means all of us. He wants children to get a good education, and so do I. He is OUR president and I support his reminding children at the beginning of the school year about how important their education is. Good Americans can disagree about a war but I don't see how any good American can disagree about the importance of a good education.

You are a complete low-life. After this, not a word you write has any meaning or any credibility. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I'm still waiting for you to direct me to the specific "pledge of support." And I'll add this - kindly direct me to one specific instance where President Obama used the words "share the wealth." That's not what he's talking about at all. At no time has he or will he ask wealthy people to give some of their money away to poor people. What he is asking for is common fairness for all.

I'm a pretty wealthy guy and, at no time, have I felt my wealth threatened by Democrats or the President.

Obama's original proposed message to the kids contained putting down in writing how they could help the president. They've since backed off that because of all the furor that's generated.

If you haven't heard Obama say "share the wealth" then you're not paying attention, I can't help you there.

Imagine that. A president asking young citizens to think about what they can do to better their country. How awful.

The reality of this hubub is plain to see. It is driven by hatred of the messenger, and has nothing to do with the message. As one commentator put it, "The controversy isn't that Obama has announced something controversial, but rather that he's announced something."

Let me guess, that commentator works at MSNBC and you were one of 12 viewers that heard it? That guy has pulled the race card so much he now just tapes it to his forehead.

If you're going to shoot the messenger, you should at least try to aim the correct messenger. The quote is from Derek Thompson, who writes for The Atlantic.

The next time you use Google to look for the source of a quote, you might try following a few of the links from the results page to see what they actually say, and not just assume that whatever name appears at the top of the first result is the author.

But it matters little who the quote is from. It expresses an idea that I intended to express, and had arrived at independently. I just just liked the way Thompson put it, and didn't want to misrepresent his words as my own.

Have you figured out who the messenger is yet?

Good for you.....but that wasn't the point. The point was that you immediately and incorrectly assumed that the commentator must have worked for msnbc. And he called you on it. And he was right. And you look like a schmuck now.

This is how they control you rightist sheep.

They tell you not to trust legitimate news media because they are all leftists, they tell you not to listen to academics because they are leftists. Instead you are told to listen to "legitimate" media such as Fox news, Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity, Levine...

You are slaves to your right wing masters who are feeding on you like wolves, laughing at your gullibility and stupidity while they are being enriched.

Just imagine the stink these idiot right-wingers would be making if Obama had said "ask what you can do for your country."

A large segment of the American population has completely lost its mind.

Since the George W. Bush won the 2000 election there has been a lot of partisan fervor in this country and a general loss of respect for the president's position as the chief executive of the United States. There was a whole left-wing sect who claimed Bush was "not [their] president." And, now, the same thing seems to be happening with Barack Obama and right-wingers. The right-wing, who believes their country has been hijacked by communists, has already decided that Barack Obama is the enemy and "how dare the White House try to recruit our kids." The truth is, though, they refuse to give Barack Obama a chance. They haven't once contemplated the idea that maybe he isn't a terrible person. Maybe it is because the democrats started a bad trend during the Bush administration of "hating your president." I don't really know. But in 1950s, if Eisenhower were to make a speech to schoolchildren, or even if George W. Bush did the same thing in the months after 9/11 when his approval ratings were soaring, would anybody compare them to Mao Zedong? Certainly there is always contention when politics involve children, but this is simply an attempt to make them feel empowered. Like "Hey, the president needs your help! Your president..." not "Your DEMOCRAT president needs your help!" Either way, George H.W. Bush did something similar in the early 90s and was criticized by Dems... of course! But nobody was suggesting he was a communist dictator.

Maybe you should listen to your former first lady:

Here is the link the Bush Sr. flashback. It's from a Conservative news source and raises a now moot point about whether today's media will make a fuss of Obama's speech to children... They have:

How dare our President talk to kids about the importance of studying hard, staying in school, and working to make our country better! Sounded very socialist to me.

Do these idiots honestly think that the President was going to try to indoctrinate young people? Does anyone know a 5th grader that would be able to understand anything except the very simple message given by the President this morning?

Even Joe Scarborough (A former REPUBLICAN Congressman) told the far-right and idiot parents to "grow up."

And the silly rant earlier that white people voted for Obama out of "guilt" is just ludicrous. And blacks and Latinos voted overwhelmingly for Obama just like they have voted overwhelmingly for every Democratic presidential candidate in the last 50 years. . "2smart"'s claims are ludicrous and astonishingly dangerous! Desperate, stupid, ignorant, and, dare I say, racist. Yes - it's racist. Think about it, you uninformed moron. You just called everyone who voted for Obama a racist. PLEASE GO AWAY!
