WASHINGTON – Consumer sentiment rose more than expected in August and expectations hit the highest level since the recession began, indications that Americans' pessimism about the economy may be lifting.

The housing sector also showed signs of life as a national measure of home prices posted its first quarterly increase in three years.

The New York-based Conference Board said Tuesday its Consumer Confidence index rose to 54.1 from an upwardly revised 47.4 in July. Economists surveyed by Thomson Reuters had expected a slight increase to 47.5.

Take your blinders off, son. Unfortunately a "feeling" or a "sentiment" has no bearing on actual debt. Add 2 Trillion to the deficit that Obama says he underestimated and the result is we will be paying China 1 Billion a month in interest alone, that's before a dime of principle is paid.

This country is in dire straights and faces severe future problems.

We need Obama to rein in this runaway spending orgy he's on and put the country on a strict budget until we can get a handle on this debt. I liken Obama's spending to a teenager who was just given his first credit card and told to go out and have a good time.

He needs to put the healthcare plan on the back burner, eliminate all pork barrel projects and concentrate on keeping us out of bankruptcy.
