The "Harrison Fest," has always been held on the weekend before the primary election. It was started to give the people of Harrison a wonderful feeling about their community, thus helping the incumbent candidates. In recent years the residents of the community have changed, and the new residents have turned the fest into something else, angering many long time residents. The new fest has become a burden to town officials because many residents are angered when they see what Harrison has become. If they do have the fest, you will witness what I am saying. Guest guest Posted April 12, 2009 Report Share Posted April 12, 2009 You mean the Harrison Multicultural Day. "Harrison Fest" is the name of the non-profit set up by former Councilman Anselmo Millan. When Mayor McDonough took over the "fest" he had to change the name to the Harrison Multicultural Day because he couldn't use Harrison Fest as it was a registered non-profit corporation. Since Millan was booted from running the fest. The fest has become a shadow of the cultural experience it once was and become strictly a flea market. McDonough wasn't able to organize the festival and it has become terrible of late. Bring back the real Harrison Fest and you'll get an experience of various cultural groups and clubs demonstrating the unique cultures that make up the American fabric. Yes, that would be great, but with this Mayor that is only concerned about the other side of town, this will never happen. Remember the most important thing that this Harrison Fest brought to this community is to bring us all together as a whole not devided by rich, poor, white, dark and so on. sad but true. The scumbags you refer to are most probably hard working people that get an honest days pay for an honest days work. The real scumbags are right in town hall and related departments around town that are more than happy to take jobs at unreasonably high pay for little or no work. You are your brothers keeper, and the very people you called scumbags I think would help you out with something than the kings and queens of Harrison. End of the lesson.
