Guest Matilda
What is going on? Dosen't Harrison know that there is a receession going on? Homes are being forclosed on. People are loosing their jobs. BIG banks and businesses are closing and Harrison town emplopyees are getting increases! They don't make enough? Our newly elected President said it will get worse before it gets better. Than we get a stupid letter in ther mail saying our taxes went up because of the salary and pension increases and oh, but the gas has come down and so has the price of food! I would like to know where he shops! What a bunch of a-holes running this town. We people have to get together and start speaking up. We have to report this nonsense to someone! Does anyone know what we can do besides move? Any ideas? Do you s3e how FAT they are all getting? On our tax money!
Guest Guest
The letter is an outright lie, there has not been a salary increase in the Town since 01/01/2006. All three contracts HPD, HFD and civil srevice expired on 12/31/06. The Police & Fire are awaiting an arbitration ruling in the next few weeks. As far as the pesnsion increases this is also a lie, Gov. Whitman offered each municipality a pension furlough for 5 years. If the Town particiapted, they had to pay the money back over the next five years. Example 2000-2004 no pension payments, 2005 100% + 20 % of the furlough, 2006 100% + 40 % of the furlough, 2007 100% + 60 % of the furlough, 2008 100% + 80 % of the furlough and 2009 100% + 100% of the furlough but the employees continued to pay their share. So if your Town did not particpate in the program, then they owe nothing but here in good old Harrison we participated and did not plan for the future and budget the money, hence the tax increase. This is an accurate statement of the facts. Where did the money go. This should be easy enough for the councilmen to find out.
