What he hasn't said is he's against any new drilling for oil which will drive oil prices even higher than they are today, which will cost everyone another $4-5,000. annually in gas. His promised giveaway programs are projected to make the U.S. the highest taxed country in the world, taking over the #1 position now held by Sweden. From 1999 to last year, drilling permits issued for use on public lands rose around 360 percent. 2. Nearly 90 billion barrels of accessible oil is available offshore, the majority of it in the Gulf of Mexico or off Alaska. About 80 percent of it is open to exploitation. 3. About 36 billion barrels are on federal lands, mainly in Alaska and the Rocky Mountains. About two-thirds of that is or will shortly be accessible. 4. In four years nearly 29,000 drilling permits for use on public lands were issued by the Bureau of Land Management. Fewer than 19,000 wells were sunk, meaning 10,000 permits have been pocketed. Why are you such a liar? Why don't you ask those companies to use those 10,000 permits they're sitting on? There's no moratorium or ban or anything standing in their way. He hasn't said it because that's not his position. The oil companies already have the rights to drill in numerous places, but they're not drilling because they're waiting for a more favorable market. Obama isn't against drilling. He's against handing over oil rights on even more land to the oil companies when they're not using what they have now.
