Guest InTheKnow
Why would you blame the fire department for the impending tax increase? They are the only union that purposed a change in their work schedule that would save over $100,000.00 per year. Now I know that it would benefit them, but it would also benefit the tax payers. So it is a win win situation. As far as the raises for the past few years are concerned, I would guess that the town has set aside money based on the average raises giving to all the other town employees. This also includes the raise for the town administrator. And for those of you who may have missed it, the Mayor stated in a recent TV interview that 51% of our taxes go to the Board of Education. 51%!! How much goes to the County? And just to let you all know, as of January 1st all the other town unions will be without a contract.
