Guest what a joke Posted February 2, 2006 Report Share Posted February 2, 2006 The recent postings concerning a coach have made me laugh. Here is a guy who has alot of experience and is put down for returning to a program to help get it back on it's feet. Well, if you want to talk about coaches........what about the football coach. Here is a guy who makes a salary as a head coach but earns extra doing the weight room. He is also at the top of the scale on the salary post as a teacher; but guess what...this guy don't teach!!!! Shame on all those who allow this to happen. With all the talk about palm scanning and dressing like professionals at the high school, this guy comes in when he wants and wears what he wants. He doesn't teach a single class nor does he do grades, attendance, exams etc. They created the EBM job for him and now he doesn't even have to do that. Why is he special? All the other SUCCESSFUL coaches in the district should demand the same; but I guess they have to hang out with the BOE members to get such priveleges. He talks about team work. Well, what team member would dump on other co-workers who have to cover the EBM as a duty so he can do what he wants. The union should get involved with this as they are actually covering another class period. They do all the work in the morning so when the King comes in everything is taken care of and he can walk arond and be visible. He was also allowed to to displace other teachers to get an office to work in. How many other coaches in the district get that luxury? I could go on and on but it is such a joke that it makes me sick. What really makes me sick is the BOE and administration know what is going on and allow it. So much for putting your trust in elected officials. Talk about a real waste of the tax payers money. I bet when he has to play a real schedule he will quit again. There are other very good and qualified coaches in the district now who actually teach! These guys could fill the King's shoes in two minutes. Wake up BOE before you lose these good guys and have no one! The King says he has offers to go to other schools and coach for big money and teach nothing......well, if this is the case then go!!! Just another line of bull to squeeze more out of the people of Kearny. I got four words to say to you about this line of crap. GOOD-BYE-GOOD RIDENCE!!!!!! Plus as you mentioned, there is alot more at hand that was not even spoke about!! Yes, the BOE is at fault, but more so the Administration. The "KINGS" superiors, know and let it all happen. Some of these individuals are gunning for the Supers job. Imagine what you'll see happening if that happens! As usual no ACCOUNTABILITY!! Just people making huge salaries going through the motions, putting their time in, waiting for their next opportunity to strike it rich at the next level. I hear the kids call it the country club because they can go in there with the air conditioner - listen to their headphones and sleep.That is a great way to discipline kids. They should do Sat.detentions...that way they can hire two more teachers at the king's salary and people would be knocking down the door to work that gig! Wake up Kearny and get rid of the dead wood who only does what they please with the approval of the BOE. By the way, it is true, all the other teachers in the district do teach full schedules and some of them don't even get the last day of class as a prep. Contrary to belief....they too work with their kids all summer long and off season but get none of the perks the king gets!!! Something is very wrong with this picture!!!!! Guest Guest Posted February 4, 2006 Report Share Posted February 4, 2006 I am wondering if the previous post meant all coaches teach full schedules and don't all get a last period prep in whatever school they teach. I am not postive but I do believe this to be true. I do know that there are some teachers who do not teach full schedules though, these people like the media specialists and computer guys may not have classes all the time but they still are required to sign in at the start of the school day and sign out as well at the end and be there for the entire school day. If everyone would just do the jobs they are supposed to do without having to be watched it would make everything a heck of alot easier. These teachers are adults who have a responsibility to perform a job.............most of them do and do a great job at that but I guess like in any profession, you always get those few who just don't like to follow the rules. He has the same contract as all the other teachers but he abuses his privilege as a coach to take advantage of his job. All the other high school teachers are scrambling in the morning to find parking so they can be in on time and not get called into the office because they are late, yet the King can come and go as he pleases. No wonder none of the teachers have any respect for the administration up there. This is a double standard and any teacher who is disciplined for being tardy should go to the union and complain about this double standard. They pay this guy to teach, coach and run the weight room; but he does what he wants when he wants. The district says it cannot afford to pay someone to maintain the school district website so the taxpayers in town can be up to date on the district news but yet they find the money for this guy???? IT IS GOOD TO BE THE KING!! Some teachers have 25-30 students in a class that they are SOLEY responsible for. The King “monitors” (when he does show up for 2 periods) a little suspension room that maybe holds 12 kids at the most, yet he gets to have another teacher in there with him. Why? These kids are not Riker’s criminals but as long as there is someone else in there, the King is off the hook to go do as he pleases. So this is ANOTHER perk only he is allowed. All HS teachers are responsible for 8 periods a day as well as a help period ( which I am sure the King does too-NOT) . I guess his schedule must read like this: 1st period – getting out of bed 2: Petitio’s Deli 3: Diner 4: Get a haircut 5: Show your face at school and make sure everyone else is doing your work etc, etc….What a good role model you are Coach! Teach these kids that it is good to screw your co-workers and weasel your way out of you own responsibilities! He tells everyone he is working in the athletic office when not in the suspension room, which is another load of crap. Who does he think he is Joe Paterno? He is just a high school coach like all the other HONEST, HARD WORKING coaches in the district; but the difference is they do what they are supposed to do. Many of these coaches play a 20 game or better schedules and have successful programs that garner recognition for the school yet they don’t get the time, the office and all the other BS that this guy gets. These coaches do their jobs IN the school during the day as well as on the fields afterwards! No wonder they all talk about him. He makes the whole athletic program look bad. No one even wants to work with him anymore. Football is a joke and so is the coach. They play a handpicked schedule but the King’s ego is so big that he honestly believes he is wonderful. He is a legend in his own mind!!! The whole HS staff knows this is a joke. The Super and 4 guys in administration allow it to happen. - one if which is the A.D. Not one of them has the guts to stand up and do the right thing here. What are they scared of? Makes you wonder what the King must have on these guys. I guess when you have board members roaming the sidelines with you and drinking in the local watering holes you have some protection. Just remember people of Kearny….it is your taxes that are financing this whole sham! I wish the teacher’s union would take a stand and put a stop to this favoritism…someone has to do something and it surely isn’t going to be the Soprano’s who are running the school.
