Silence of the HFD vs. the HPD

Is it just me or does it seem like that the Fire Department members have been quite quiet here on this board as opposed to the internecine feud that’s been playing out in the Police Department???

Is it possible that Dolaghan has been doing a much better job at the HFD than Doran’s been doing with his boys at the HPD???

And Doran is mayor material??? Oh, yeah.

you're comparing a councilman/committee chairman to a department head.

The difference is that the Fire Chief competed and came out first on a civil service test. In the Pd the Chief was chosen and 3 other Captains were by-passed. Thats why they are resentful.

Stuff and Nonsense...the problems in HPD have been happening for FAR longer than the current controversy. All of this garbage goes back to when the department was split between PBA and FOP..ALL of the back-and-forth crap that goes on here is because of this...one group gets into the position where they are the bargaining agents, and instead of working together, they undercut the others, BOTH sides are guilty of this. HPD was warned when all of this began that it would destroy the department's morale, but they went ahead and did it anyway. Add in a Chief who favored the FOP, and hammered PBA members every chance he got, and the intital rift became insurpassable. The biggest problem is THIS board, and the previous ones.which allowed these folks to air out their dirty laundry in public, and frankly cast a doubt on the professionalism and integrity of the entire agency. By bringing their petty little disputes into the light of day, it makes the citizens who rely on this agency wonder whether their PD is staffed by adult professionals, otr a bunch of high-school kida playing the "im better than you are because" game. The truly sad thing is that it's probably less than 1o people total on both sides who engage in this...but the impression is still given that it's the entire department.

Guest One who knows
Do you think Doran plays second tier to any Police Chief???

Apparently you don’t know Doran.

Just ask Greene.

Give me a break.

Yea right, Doran is afraid of his own shadow. When he first ran for Councilman, he went to VG and asked for protection because he was afraid of the goon squad. He was given extra security by the HPD. Then the Mayor put him as Police Chairman because he knew he would be a pain in the a--. When the boys got in trouble and were disciplined, all they had to do was go over his house for awhile and all was forgiven. By the way, the comments by the Harrison Phanton on Jim Doran's website were made from his house by his then live in friend. :o

Apparently, someone (probably VG himself) has his facts asunder.

Doran never contacted the Harrison Police, nor was he ever provided with “extra security” by HPD.

At the time, Doran’s opponent was Pete Higgins- Chairman of the Police Department. It was Doran’s concern that there might be some voter improprieties or harassment of his supporters at the polling places.

Given that the police chief at that time was beholden to his opponent, and that Higgins had instilled a climate of fear and recrimination in the town, Doran lined up the STATE POLICE in the event that any voting issue had to be resolved.

Whoever posted this bull about Doran being afraid of some “goon squad” or was given protection by the HPD, is full of it.

And as far as Doran being “afraid of his own shadow,” obviously you’ve never crossed his path. Or, indeed, maybe you have.

All jokes aside, I wouldn’t mess with him. Higgins learned that back in ’98.

All jokes aside, as soon as he got in, he joined the team. What has he done for the Harrison Taxpayer except vote aye on everything the organization wanted. He was Mayor Rodgers pratt boy and thats why he is where he is today. Why don't you ask *************** what he did? He was writing derogatory items on Doran's website about his opponents under the Harrison Phantom. Doran had him arrested on Super Bowl Sunday for ********* *********. He is now living in **********, N.J in a condo paid by Doran and a rental car paid by Doran to keep him quiet. Oh yeah, he also gives him spending money. :o

There’s something this poster doesn’t know about. It’s about the time Doran was Councilman and was going to have VG arrested.

Oh, yes, ladies and gentlemen, your police chief was going to be cuffed. It never happened before. But Doran was ready to hit the newspaper.

When faced with an instance of insubordination, Doran conferred with others and decided that he would have the police chief arrested- by state troopers. McDonough was clueless, but Doran eye-balled the police chief and decided he had an arrestee. It was a plus for civilian control of government.

The chief relented and the state police was not called in.

And Doran is the wimp everyone speaks of???

The plot against the Chief was hatched at Doran's house by him , his boyfriend, and 2 HPD Officers after a round of drinking. One of the Officers was being disciplined and went to Doran for help. That's when they decided that they were going to have him arrested by the State Police. If he had done something wrong, all they had to do was go to the prosecutor's office. Anyway, the Officer wound up being disciplined and the Chief prevailed. That article was probably written by Doran or his former boyfriend aka " the Harrison Phantom".:lol:B)

Pete Higgins was a much better Police Chairman thern Doran will ever be. Why?, because Doran is easily compromised.

Hey, Barney Fife, put that single bullet in your shirt pocket, grab a chair and listen up.

While you’re technically correct regarding there’s no statute regarding a police chief being arrested for insubordination, Doran was hell bent on making sure that the chief was answerable to the people of the town.

Noticed I said he “conferred” with others as to what to do in respect to that particular chief’s insubordination. And those “others” were not lawyers or paid consultants.

Doran contacted the Attorney General’s office to inform them of the situation. The concern here was: Who’s going to remove the police chief from the chain of command? Who’s going to stop him from showing up at the office? Who’s going to remove him of his revolver?

Again, the state police were on notice to step in.

The decision was made to have the council pass a resolution to relieve the police chief of his duties, citing “insubordination” and other causes in that resolution. If the chief refused to comply, he was to be arrested. Trust me, Doran was checking his municipal statutes book on that one.

That’s how a chief can be arrested for “insubordination” and Doran was ready to do it. However, the chief resigned (oh, I’m sorry, “retired”.) Even McDonough and Higgins were behind Doran on this one- an unlikely alliance.

And Doran’s a wimp???

Hey Phantom what are you drinking? That little incident happened about 3 years before the Chief retired. Your making up a lot of lies. Stay off the booze and continue to receive your welfare checks from JD. Just continue to keep quiet about what went on .

Hey, Deputy Fife, nice maneuver there going for the personal jugular.

Wasn’t that the reason for why you so demoralized your force that Doran had to step in to clean up the mess you were creating on an almost daily basis?

Even KOTW had to clean up your posts.

You weren’t a nice person back then and you’re just a lonely old man now.

And sorry, Barney, I’m not the Phantom.

But I stick with the truth of my posts.

What a wimp, wimp, wimp wimp, he had to go to the AG. The AG investigated and found nothing wrong. The wimp would never do anything on his own, he calls on the AG, the State Police and anyone else he thinks will help him. What was wrong with the HPD, they have police powers. He's a wimp and always will be one. :lol:B):D

This kind of reply speaks for itself.

And now, Barney Fife is retired to the dustbin of history.

Farewell, Deputy.

I saw the Chief at a wedding of a local couple the other night. He looked fabulous.

He's in great shape, has many friends at the Jersey Shore, is involved in local community affairs and has a new job. The other Officers who were at the wedding came up to him and told him how bad things are in the HPD under the appointed Chief and his Deputy Chief who looks like Barney Fife. So much for your comment of him being a lonely old man.
