He also stated that the Mayor is working on getting him a job in the prosecutors office. Is that the normal way to go or is there a test for the hiring process? Does riding the pine for years in the NFL qualify him for the job? Another example of how Harrison is the haves and the have nots. His parents are already getting major bucks for town jobs and now the Mayor is going to "appoint" Ray to the prosecutors office. Shouldn't he be more concerned about the town going to shit like it is than expanding the web of nepotism. I realize that the Mayor and Powell control PVSC, but I didn't realize they have wrestled control of the prosecutors office also. He could have stated that he (Mr. Lucas) was looking into employment and not state that his family connections will soon get him a job. The purpose of the First Amendment is to create an arena for debate so our democracy can thrive throught the expression of ideas. Obviously, you have a problem with the management of the Town of Harrison. You have the right to express your views so that people can hear what you have to say and changes, if necessary, can be made. However, the problem with your comment is that you elected to specifically identify Ray Lucas to make your point. Your criticism of Raymond and his family is pointless. Your comments about "riding the pine" was childless. Your comment that Ray should be concerned about the town was silly. Overall your commentary has some value. However, there is absolutely no reason to identify Ray to make your point. I understand the people like to point to individuals to get his or her point across. The problem is that person does not deserve your criticism. I am certain that you do not know Raymond and/or the effort he gave in order to become a member of a NFL football team. In the future, please resist your tempations of attacking an individual to support your views. As stated above, I understand your point (nepotism, etc.) but I do not agree with your method of expression. Stop being silly and do something to change the problems that you have identified. You may have guessed that I am patronizing you because I believe that you are incapable of engaging in fruitful discussion. Guest Guest Posted September 30, 2004 Report Share Posted September 30, 2004 ok let's use our heads here people. you know that lump 3 feet above your ass. for those just looking for contraversy which is all of you whiners, here's a little bit of info. there is no test for the prosecutors office and it is an agency that it helps to know people. and unlike alot of you people, he has a college degree, one from a very good university although i'm sure since he was successfull there and your kid wasnt smart enough to get in there, its a crappy college right. then let's not forget he is trying to get into the essex county prosecutors office. now mayor mcdonough might know people but hw much can he do, cuz i know most harrison people aren't that bright (which is the real reason you dont get good jobs then B**ch about it) but harrison is in hudson county. as for him worrying about the town, he's done enough and doesnt owe us anything. why he even comes around anymore, let alone be nice to people around here, is beyond me. everyone wants to bash him and then you see him on harrison ave. and you act like his best friend. it's sad. the whole bench warming thing is obvious that its really just jealousy, your what's known as a hater. someone who cant stand seeing others do good. is it his fault you's were bad at sports, not smart enough to go to a good college, and hold down a terrible job? don't forget envy is one of the seven deadly sins, you should just get over it and grow up already. Second, the Mayor was not even in office at the time Mr. Lucas began working for the Town. Third, your ad hominen attack on Ray, i.e, "seldom used, self-proclaimed retired football player", is silly. In that regard, who, if not Ray, can declare himself retired. Finally, the prosecutor office is not a high paying job. Your problem is that you unnecessarily criticize Raymond. You cannot deny that: (i) he has a college degree; (ii) he played in the NFL; and (iii) he worked hard to do these things. You should applaud Ray for his accomplishments. Rather than make unwarranted assessments of his character and/or his work ethic. I suggest that you compare your life acheivements with Ray's. Not that I am criticizing whatever things you have chosen with your life. However, we all need to step back and look at ourselves before we criticize others.
