Hfd Drug Testing

There is an interesting article in the Daily News today, Monday (21st). Concerning New York City. The Fire Commissioner states," You will be held responsible for misconduct.......it is absolutely certain if you use drugs, you will be fired........we need to change the culture of accepting drinking in this department." I am not saying that the HFD is using drugs as a whole unit, but some members are abusing alcohol and using drugs. The Mayor and Council claim that the Harrison Fire Department is one of the best in NJ, but yet he fails to impose penalties for or even institute a policy concerning random drug testing and alcohol abuse. The Fire Committee Chairman and Fire Chief will never ask for it do to nepotism and the eventual fallout when positive tests come back. The Mayor thinks the Fire Department is the greatest thing since the invention of the telephone. Thats why the Police Awards ceremony is held in a Church basement with little attendance but the Fire Awards (even though there are no fires in Harrison-well maybe once a year) is like the Academy awards with every bigwig in town attending. It's all comes down to one thing - the dollar$$$$$$) The HFD is a money eating machine, but only the "in" people are allowed to sit at the dinner table. The taxes are sky-high because of this, and why should the Mayor care, he doesn't own a house in Harrison. This is a TOTAL LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY DUE TO THE FACT OF HOW MANY FIREMAN HAVE ALREADY BEEN ARRESTED FOR AND FIRED FOR DRUG USE. THE ONLY REASON THEY GOT FIRED IS BECAUSE THEY GOT ARRESTED AND IT COULDN'T BE COVERED -UP. The HFD isn't honorable, has no integrity, and has ORDERED the Mayor, not asked, to make sure they aren't tested. Why do they have the Town council so frightened of them? Whats the cover-up? Some answers, how about that "town fathers."

You people really need to get up to speed on current events. The fireman who were doing drugs are all GONE. Give it up already. Let go of the past and be thankful that you have the infrastructure that you need in such a small town. I love these people crying about the taxes when you know they are probably renters anyway. There were a few bad apples YEARS back, but they were dealt with. MOVE ON.............

You need to get up to speed Einstein. Somebody you trust is obviously feeding you a steady stream of bullshit. I guarentee that if the chickenshit Mayor and Council would strap on a pair of balls and do the right thing, meaning taking a little responsibilty for the antics of this almost never used cash eating machine, they could cut the roster by 10 within 2 years. But alas, the Politicians are so busy counting their f**king illegally gained money and spending time down the shore that the whole town is going to shit. Garbage in, garbage out. Glad I don't live there and never will because I wouldn't sit still while the same s**k-ass families get tremendously wealthy and the average Joe gets it stuck right up his ass with high taxes and nothing to show for it. In the past you say? Appartently you are a family member or a fireman because idle hands are the devils work, and they don't do a f**king thing, jump hump assholes likke you for your hard earned money. You deserve what you get.

VERY WELL SAID. There are only a few people who cannot get over this subject.

The bad apples are gone. But the NEPOTISM does still exist and is thriving.

Last night on TV the NYCity Fire Commissioner stated that if a fireman is arrested for drugs they will be terminated and that he is planning a random drug testing for all fireman. 26 Fireman have been arrested for DWI so far this year and the union is blaming the substance abuse policy on 911.

The HFD should have random drug testing for its fireman. Past history has shown that it is needed. Get with the times and don't fight it. It will benefit other fireman and the public who pay for these services. The HFD are lucky they are paid. Most fire depts in NJ are volunteer.

The HFD also needs a new written directive system and new rules and regulations that will incorporate randon drug testing and the procedure used.

Mr. Mayor, where do you stand on the random drug and alcohol testing of the fireman? Do you have the stones to take a stand or is this another, "I'll get back to you....," bullshit response that we are so accustomed to hearing?
