Top Ten Reasons

Top Ten reasons the Harrison Police are Fed up.

1.) Absolutely, positively no security within the Police facility. Everyone from politicians to school children have access to all area's of the P/D and walk through the halls on a daily basis. HFD nice new facility. Water dept as well. Who will be held liable when a 9 year old wanders into the cell block and a tragedy takes place.

2.) Town will not provide a humane working schedule for the HPD. Fire Dept. 3 on/1 off. We would like to spend time with our family as well. The only straight shifts in the P/D are held over our heads in return for POLITICAL FAVORS.

3.) Town will claim parity in the Police and Fire Tables of Organization- same structure- huge gaps in salary to benefit the HFD.

4.)Town has promised accrued vacation time and documented same in our GOOD FAITH negotiations. Vacation time schedule ripped from us without consideration or negotiation.

5.) Men who have served Harrison for many years with compassion and professionalism spend thousand of dollars and many hours to study for a well deserved promotion. No promotion, but the games and promises to toy with these mens emotions were used. One Major SLAP IN THE FACE.

6.) The Mayor decides to have the Hispanics run out of town at 6th/Harrison and 7th/Harrison employment agencies. Showing their integrity with no help from the Chief, members of the HPD are ordered to stand the post and comply, but do not harrass the public. As a result Mayor McDonough now follows patrol cars, questions what they are doing and repeatedly harrasses officers questioning them as they complete their assignments. No help from the Chief or administration.

7.)Page 1 observer, State of NJ says no money for promotions according to Mayor.

Page three of observer, Mayor says State Ok's promotion of deputy chief and town counsel like Capt. Nank for the position. $15000 increase in salary is posted across the page. Flat out SLAP IN THE FACE. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE OF THE OBSERVER !!

8.) There has been more IA complaints against Harrison PBA officers during Captain Nanks tenure as VG's assistant then in the History of the HPD. We will not accept a return to his wrath lightly.

9.) Salary of a Harrison patrolman willing make the ultimate sacrifice and lay down his life for the citizens of Harrison is paid comparable to a building service worker, a laborer, a parking attendant and somewhat less, about $30,000 less then, a plumber.

10.) A man like Dan Kelly, who wouldnt know what integrity was if it bit him from behind, to come out a threaten my brother officers with pink slips and demotions while in a drunken stupor, let just say thats the final straw !!!

This list can go on and on, but its not going too. We will make our humility at the hands of this town counsel public and let those chips fall where they may. Harrison counsel members have stepped on its police force for many years as the HPD has treated the public with the highest levels of professionalism and courtesy possible. We will continue to treat the public in that manner, but we shall also enforce the law as we were sworn to do, without outside influence, without prejudice and without the support of our counsel.

Just think, the FOP can find no even ground in the 10 listed complaints. I would think its sad, but its actually comical they side with the town on our working conditions and call themselve a Police Union.

Are the FOP mostly residents of this town???

It just doesn't matter if they are residents or not. They have no votes on the contract, just ideas and thoughts. I do recall during the last PERC vote. They had the numbers to beat the PBA, but guess what they lost by I think five votes. Let's remember who was in charge of the Lodge in the garage at that time Danny,Dave, and Pete, three stand up guys! Now Darren is the boss with Capt. Dan pulling the strings. Still a stand up sell out.

Not sure who Joe is, but I do have a good idea. He may be a bit vocal, but he's entitled because above all else he's a good cop. Blasting the FOP is a big help, sooner or later you may figure out that friendship and loyalty transcends union affiliation. Like it or not, you're all on the same team.

Well if you keep complaining for years....... and nothing gets done, what do you do? Harrison PH keeps complaining. In 3 years get these guys out. Start now and Doran aint the solution. Maybe Larry or maybe Steve.

Start now
