Global Warming ?

I was reading a story today in National Geographic Magazine about global warming. The story stated that 50 million years ago, according to fossil evidence, Antarctica had a temperate climate, evergreen forests and hundreds of animal species. Today more than 99% of the continent is covered with ice.

This certainly proves that global warming and cooling has been occurring and re-occurring long before man. And it proves that global warming and cooling will continue despite what our lying socialist president says.

Idiot,

How much of the earth was suitable for farming and human habitation at that time? Just because it happened before doesn't mean it would be good if it happened again. And just because natural disasters occur doesn't mean we should produce their effects by our own hand.

You keep saying the same stupid things, ignoring the fact that science supports global warming, not just our better political leaders. Here, yet again, are links to the latest IPCC and NOAA reports.

Duh ! You can't be this stupid. The NG article shows that climate change has been occurring for 50 million years. Wise up.

As always, 2Stupid4Words (posting this time as "Guest") misses the point completely. Global warming is a problem for many reasons, one of which is that it's happening so quickly. When climate changes quickly, species must adapt in order to survive but many of them can't adapt fast enough. And human populations must adapt too, as climate changes. For example, a new study predicts crippling droughts on the US West Coast in this century as a result of global warming. That means that tens of millions of people will have to relocate, and the economic costs will be in the trillions of dollars. 2Stupid4Words will use any excuse to deny climate change. But if you took him seriously, the answer is that we cannot consider the interests of the American people merely over geological time (many thousands of years). 2Dim raises a fit when the unemployment rate doesn't fall fast enough (if a Democrat is in office) but is willing to overlook completely the destruction of our entire West Coast as a suitable environment for prosperity. The only good thing about his continual blather on climate change is that it presents another opportunity to present the facts. Check out the link. It's important to know.

Stupid,

The problem is not just the fact of climate change but the degree and rapidity of it. The Earth is warming too much, too fast, and for a very bad reason (too much carbon in the atmosphere). If you would bother to read the IPCC and NOAA reports, you would see that they explain this, and many other things. Then you might not feel the need to come here and remind us, yet again, how stupid and ignorant right wingers are. We already know that.

YOU CAN be this stupid, and you are.

1. Climate change always occurs. It has been happening since the Earth formed 4 billion years ago. That's not the point or the problem.

2. The problem is how it's happening, because of too much atmospheric carbon, and the fact that the civilizations we have built, like our cities, depend on a stable climate. Those things weren't around 50,000 years ago, and any species that became of extinct because of climate change then aren't around today to tell us about it. We can handle SOME climate change that occurs over thousands of years. Climate change that happens this quickly, and this much, will result in major disruptions, widespread water and food shortages and trillions of dollars in economic costs.

3. And just because things happen in nature doesn't mean they're good. This point has been made before, many times, but I'll repeat it since you seem to have missed it. Aging of the human body occurs too. Over time our arteries will clog and our respiratory capacity will decline. That doesn't mean we should eat too many fatty foods and clog our arteries PREMATURELY, or smoke and reduce our respiratory capacity by POLLUTING OUR LUNGS. Not to mention cancer.

4. Why do you buy everything they tell you on Fox? Don't you realize they're just shills for the oil companies and the monied interests that don't care about our welfare? They send our kids off to unnecessary wars to keep their profits flowing. They don't care about your life, or mine, or anyone's but their own. Wake up, moron.

"Crippling droughts in this century". You are aware that they can't predict the weather much more than 3 days out, right ??

BTW, I heard the weatherman on TV this morning say this is the coldest winter in 20 years.

I'm aware that you're an idiot, that the scientists know more than you do, that 2014 was the hottest year on record, and that the trend line for global warming continues upward.

You're wrong. Meteorologists consistently make accurate predictions about the weather. For example, anyone who follows weather.com knew ten days ago that the current cold snap was coming. Besides, meteorology and climatology are different sciences.

BTW, I heard the weatherman on TV this morning say this is the coldest winter in 20 years.

And you're ignorant. TV weather reporters generally talk about temperatures in their area, at most in the country. For example, across the US as of February 4 this year, there were more record high temperatures than record cold temperatures. Problem is, you never listen to the whole thing.

So if you want a third opinion, you don't know what you're talking about. On the other hand, that would be a fact.

But the question remains, is climate change influenced by man? Since climate change has been happening for at least fifty million years, we can reasonably assume it will continue to happen and mankind can do nothing about it, despite what zerO in his infinite wisdom has declared. Remember, this is the guy who said ISIS was only a JV team.

So when you think that your local weatherman tells you what you want to hear, suddenly he knows what he's talking about, even if you didn't understand it, which you didn't.

It's amazing the way the zerO zOmbies have jumped on this nonsensical BS. Why anyone would believe anything this socialist fool says is beyond me. He hasn't been right about anything in 6 years.

That question has been answered, definitively. Not by politicians but by the leading scientists in climatology, from all over the world.

If you read the IPCC and NOAA reports, you would see that. But you haven't read them, have you. Which is why everyone keeps calling you an idiot. You just pull stuff out of . . .

Not to mention that your analysis is stupid. I don't use that word lightly. Your argument is like saying that people's arteries harder as we get older, so don't about how much saturated fats you eat. Or saying that your car will run out of gas eventually, so don't worry that there's a hole in the tank. You're being called stupid because you make stupid arguments. And it's not as though you haven't been told. You've been told all of it, over and over.

I'm not calling you ignorant and stupid because I disagree with you. I'm calling you ignorant and stupid because you are.

No, that question has been settled. You just don't accept the answer, because you're stupid enough to buy the propaganda from the oil companies, whose profits will decline if we start transitioning away from fossil fuels. The world's climatologists are unanimous that global warming, happening this quickly, this way and this much, is real, and man-made. The parts in bold are the parts you never say anything about but the scientists do. Those are the points that matter.

Since climate change has been happening for at least fifty million years, we can reasonably assume it will continue to happen and mankind can do nothing about it,

Your first two parts of your statement are correct, except you ignore that global warming is happening too fast, too much and for very bad reasons. Those are the parts that human beings have caused. The third part of your statement is false. We can do plenty about it. We can stop dumping so much carbon into the atmosphere.

You keep saying the same things, which didn't make any sense the first time. If you would stop just reacting to everything because of your extreme political views, you might learn something.

What's amazing is you posting under three or four different names, and imagining we don't all know it's you.

What's also amazing is your ability to ignore the FACT that climatology is SCIENCE, not politics. And your ignoring every other fact, too. And your inability to understand what you read. That explains your SN, though.

Have you read any of the scientific reports on climate change and global warming? Of course you haven't.

One indisputable fact is global warming and cooling has been occurring for at least 50 million years on a cyclical basis.

Another indisputable fact is global warming and cooling will continue to occur until the end of time.

(Unless of course if zerO says otherwise)

Another indisputable fact is that we're all going to die. So if you jump in front of a train and kill yourself, it doesn't matter because you're going to die anyway. That's what you're saying, and that's how stupid your argument is.

2Dim,

Excess atmospheric carbon from fossil fuel consumption is causing global warming to occur over the course of a CENTURY or so, as opposed to the MANY THOUSANDS OF YEARS in the natural cycle. In addition, excess carbon is LEADING the climate change, instead of coming AFTER it; if you would read the science, you might understand why that makes a big difference. In other words, we are creating a catastrophe IN OUR LIFETIMES and THE LIFETIMES OF OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN. Maybe that doesn't matter to you but it matters to me, and to any reasonable person. And no number of snot-nosed remarks about President Obama can change the fact that this knowledge is coming from scientists, not politicians.

There's no evidence to suggest that the natural cycle of warming or cooling over hundreds or thousands of years has been effected by man.

You're so naïve. IPCC and NOAA are funded by the federal government. zerO is in charge of the federal government. zerO is in the pocket of the environmentalists. Follow the trail ?? That's why zerO won't approve the Keystone Pipeline. "Global warming" is a excuse to pass "green"

legislation, ban the use of coal and nuclear energy and promote wind and solar energy. The Keystone Pipeline can make the U.S. energy independent of the middle east, why would any clear thinking president be against it. Unless of course if the president has a different priority.
