Guest Guest
There have been thousands of religions, including those with sun gods, rain gods, thunder gods and fertility gods. When human societies went from hunter-gatherer to agricultural, their religions evolved toward monotheism. The Hindu gods represent human values. The Judeo-Christian-Islamic god is written of in the Torah, the Bible and the Koran, respectively. There have also been many creation stories. The Bible has two of them. Many religions have a feared or revered animal creating the world. Some creation stories have the earth created out of chaos; others have it created out of nothing; others have it emerging from a source. What is the most likely explanation for the many religions, and explanation of origins? (A) People are inclined to seek answers to things they do not understand, and to give answers even when they have no evidence for them. The answers tend to reflect the life circumstances of the people telling the story. ( There really is a god, or gods, and you must choose the right one on penalty of eternal torment. © There really is a god, or gods, and all these stories are really about the same God. (D) Something else. Submitted most respectfully for consideration and discussion.

Guest Guest
Ho-hum zzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzz Why "ho-hum"? The genesis of our religions is a very important subject. People have been making up religions throughout history. If that's all our theistic religions are based on, we should come to terms with that, don't you think?
