2dim's fantasy world

It has been said before but bears repeating. 2dim and tens of millions of other Americans live in a right-wing fantasy world, spun by the commercial networks (which are all corporate-owned) and fed by billions of dollars in special interest money. All you need to read, to know what they're talking about, are 2dim's posts on KOTW. It's a daily diet of side points, irrelevancies, half-truths and outright lies. The intent is to distract the people from the real issues that affect our lives and our future. Why would they do that? Follow the money and remember that corporations today live by short- and mid-term profit margins. That is what drives them, and there is a vast array of power making sure that their world view dominates our political systems.

There is no other explanation for the major issues being ignored. These include:

1. Climate change, which threatens human devastation on a scale never seen before. The oil companies do not want us to stop using oil and gas, for obvious reasons. The profit motive is working against the interests of the people, and against the interests of basic morality and ethics.

2. Freeing ourselves from our addiction to carbon-based fossil fuels. See #1.

3. Income inequality. The middle class in the United States is being destroyed. The super-rich don't care, in fact they like it this way. No one on any commercial network is talking about what to do about it. Doing so would not serve their interests.

4. What to do about the global economy. The entire world has been transformed by it. Yet our so-called news outlets and our so-called political leaders are talking as though we are still back in the 1950s. If we keep pretending that we can bring jobs back to the United States through policies that worked 50 years ago, or worse 200 years ago, we will never address our needs today.

5. Our educational system. We have become an entertainment culture. We want instant gratification. The corporate model feeds self-indulgence. And don't you dare tell people that we all need to sacrifice, or that we face real problems, because they'll turn you off, and your advertisers won't be happy about that.

6. Our health care system. We still don't have a real national system, despite the Affordable Care Act. As a result, other nations deliver health care to their people more effectively and at less cost than we do.

7. The military-industrial complex. Every time there's trouble anywhere in the world, there's a call for another war. President Eisenhower warned us about this. It's not hard to understand what is going on.

When do you see any serious and sustained discussion on any of these issues? The closest you'll get to it is on PBS and NPR, which are not corporate-owned. But those shows aren't entertaining, so most people don't watch them.

Every civilization has declined when its people became too comfortable. They imagined that prosperity was their birthright, and they didn't have to work or sacrifice for it. As a civilization and a nation, we are digging our own grave. We know what we need to do, if we are honest about it. We just don't want to do it. 2dim is just an extreme example of ignoring the reality that's right in front of our noses, every day.

The answer is simple. Get a job, stop depending on your parents and government to keep you housed and fed. If you're stupid, uneducated or lack the motivation to work, then you're a loser and you'll continue to depend on charity. And you'll continue to go on KOTW and vent your flustrations at being a loser.

Did I keep that simple enough for you ? And it's clear to me you're a zerO minion who expects others to take care of you.

I have a job, earning well into the high six-figures. In the nearly forty years since I began my career, I have never been without work at a very good income. So yet again, you spin your little fantasy in complete disregard of the truth.

No exaggeration, you are an idiot. My personal status does not shape national policy or world events. As usual, you have absolutely nothing of value to say. So you display your ignorance, yet again.

You are not worth arguing with. The only reason I bother with you is that there are millions of others just like you, who vote based on their ignorance. You whine and complain about what you think our country's problems are, not realizing that your behavior is a big part of our problem. Open your ears, for once, and listen.

Now that you've thrown your little temper tantrum, stop to realize that you just proved the point. You live in a fantasy world. Our addiction to fossil fuels and the profit motive behind it, climate change, growing income inequality and our shrinking middle class, and all the other issues are real. Your anger makes it obvious that somewhere in your little pea brain, even you know it's all true. But you don't want reality, so you make up a story about someone you don't even know. Even if you were right about one person, it wouldn't address any of these issues. So you made up your little story, just like you make up a story every day about President Obama or someone else you don't like or don't agree with. Fortunately for you, you have Fox and Limbaugh to tell you what to think. It may make you feel better but it doesn't make you patriot or even a citizen. It makes you an ass.

2dim,

You made it very simple. (Like you have a choice.) What you can't do is make it true.

Oh, and you don't really think calling yourself "Patriot" is fooling anyone, do you? Why not just wear a sign saying "I"m the idiot they're talking about."

Ahhh . . . so what are you saying?

Global warming isn't real?

The oil companies and military contractors aren't in business to make money, and aren't willing to lobby the government for favorable treatment even at the expense of the people and the country?

We're not addicted to fossil fuels?

The middle class isn't shrinking?

Income inequality isn't getting worse?

The global economy hasn't affected our economy and our way of life, and the prospects of American workers to get good jobs?

We don't live in a culture geared toward entertainment and instant gratification?

We have a health care system that works, either now or before the ACA?

What alternate-reality fantasy are you spinning?

Do you even know?

Most of what you cite has been caused by our incompetent socialist idologue zerO. Global warming is a fantasy of the left to promote their environmental agenda.

The earth has been going through warming and cooling cycles forever, glaciers once covered north america, the Sahara was once a green forested area.

If you think zerOcare is working, you're getting your news from MSNBC. zerOcare is failing, rates are rising, enrollments have fallen short, doctors are deserting.

Start watching FOXNEWS and get an education, you need it desperately.

There's no point arguing with an idiot.

Anyone interested in the facts can read the IPCC 2014 report.

Yeah, right, watch Fox so we can become as ignorant as you are. You're like a robot, or maybe a kitchen appliance: Fox flips your switch up, you go on; they flip it down, you shut off. You're completely incapable of carrying on an intelligent conversation, because you don't know anything. Fox says it, you believe it, end of discussion - for you. You're too stupid even to realize that you just confirmed what everyone has been saying about you all along.

Meanwhile, the scientific models confirm that by 2050 - only 36 years from now - climate change will have advanced to such an extent that there will be widespread food shortages all over the world. Forests are going to turn into deserts. There are climate cycles, that much is true. But the amount of carbon in the atmosphere is unprecedented since the dinosaurs roamed the earth more than 65 million years ago. We have taken ourselves far outside the boundaries of the usual cycles, which have sustained large human populations or could do so in the future. We have taken carbon-based fuels and burned them, for profit of course, increasing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere far beyond what would occur in the normal cooling-and-warming cycle. But you don't care. Fox feeds you a tiny grain of truth in a bowl of lies, and you buy it - because it's what you want to believe. You and people like you are the reason why many of the Framers questioned whether ordinary people could govern themselves.

There is a program that aired on Fox that you should watch: the final episode of Cosmos, in which Neil deGrasse Tyson discusses the reasons for and import of climate change. Don't just sneer at it. Watch it, do some real research of your own. You'll find that it's all true, and that we need to change our policies so that our children and grandchildren will have a future. Or you can continue to be an ignorant ass. Unfortunately for all of us, you get to choose.

Global warming is a fantasy of the left to promote their environmental agenda. The earth has been going through warming and cooling cycles forever, glaciers once covered north america, the Sahara was once a green forested area.

That's just ignorant. The warming and cooling cycles have been spread out over tens of thousands of years. We're doing this in a couple of centuries, and the levels of CO2 in the atmosphere are unprecedented. So when you try to make a comparison as though they were the same, that's just ignorant. They are not the same. You're getting little bits of information from people who want us to continue burning fossil fuels. They're making money off those fuels. That's a profit motive.

Anyway, just what do you think an "environmental agenda" is? It's the desire of well-informed people to preserve the natural environment so that it can sustain life as we know it.

You can't learn the truth just by watching Fox or any other network. Read the studies by the scientists who understand these things. They are in widespread consensus, and their degree of certainty is growing very rapidly. You can see global warming happening. You can't always see long-term trends short-term but you can see this one. Even our weather is unstable. Unusual events happen regularly now. Open your eyes, man. Global warming is real, and we are causing it. It's not like we don't know why it is happening. It is happening because of all the carbon dioxide we've put in the atmosphere. We cannot afford the kind of ignorance that you're parading here.

Global warming isn't a joke, idiot. We are going to see widespread resource shortages in our children's lifetimes because of it. And you're not fooling anyone pretending that your two posts, thirteen minutes apart, aren't from the same person.

No, you're dead wrong. You just make stuff up, and you don't even care that you're doing it. Like many other liberals, I make an excellent income, and have all my adult life. It may be hard for you to imagine, but then the truth generally is hard for you to imagine. That's what happens when you close your mind and shut out reality.

Meanwhile, you're still ignoring all the issues, because they are not what you want to talk about. You prefer your fantasy world to a sustainable future for our children and future generations beyond them. That means paying attention to global warming, energy and the other issues listed here.

Take just the first issue. Read the latest IPCC report and address the very serious implications for our country and the world. I repeat, this isn't a game. This is about real lives and the future of real people all over the world.

You just proved it again. You live in a fantasy world. That world is impenetrable by fact and reason. So you call yourself "2smart4u" because no one can ever change your mind. And apparently you think that's quite an accomplishment.

You just made accusations, and so did I, but there's a world of difference. You're just guessing, making the whole thing up to reflect your fantasy. I'm just taking your words for what they are.

This idiot will never get it. Literally, he can't even think straight, can't stay focused on a single issue, and will never admit that he's wrong about anything, even though he obviously is. He can't learn anything because his whole world is centered on the idea that he's never wrong. So what's the likelihood that he's going to be right? About anything? Virtually non-existent.

Why isn't everyone talking about these things, every day? The answer is that we don't want to have to work. We want to be called citizens but don't want any of the responsibilities that go along with that.

We could blame the media for what gets talked about; but they're just responding to our demand, and selling their product. This product used to be called news. Now tragically, it would more aptly be called bullshit.

You're right. zerO is actually encouraging people to work part time and apply for government welfare and food stamps. Inititive and self reliance are qualities that are discouraged by zerO. The main stream media is totally corrupt, they're all in zerO's pocket. thank God for Fox. zerO's goal when he took office was to transform

the US into a socialist nanny state like France. With 18 months to go in zerO's term, hopefully the GOP will control the Senate in Nov. and sit on this dangerous socialist

Fortunately, most americans are waking up to this inept socialist fool. His approval rating is now in the 30's and the House will not give him any more billions to piss away on his socialist agenda. The worst president since WW2 has 18 months to go, then hopefully the country can recover from all the damage he's done.

Or (2dim), you could try having a serious discussion about the real issues facing our country and all of us long-term.

OK, serious discussion. All the major problems facing our country; debt, border crisis, IRS, Benghazi, half of the country on welfare, etc. are the direct result of the incompetency of the socialist fool taking up space in the white house. And most people agree with me, zerO's approval rating is in the 30's.
