Guest Town Watch
This Mayor was never committed to recreation because he never followed or played sports. This complex was once the crown jewel of Kearny. There is litter all over the place with oil cans being used as trash cans, empty dog litter bags in the dog station (why have a dog station), beer cans everywhere, broken bleachers, park benches missing planks to sit on, Fieldhouses need painting badly, ball fields are poorly maintained, mud all over the parking area. Not since Mayor Rowlands has there been a serious commitment to Recreation in Kearny. With a 12 percent TAX INCREASE on the way I would assume the Mayor would say we don't have the money, but what the hell he has no children so it wouldn't effect him directly, so for all the parents who have children who pay fees so that can play sports. Ask the Mayor why is it that you pay your fair share of the cost and in return you get HIGH PROPERTY TAXES, REGISTRATION FEES (WHICH IS A HIDDEN TAX) ,And sad to say the worst display of maintiance of this complex I have ever seen in my years in Kearny. I believe this is the biggest failure in all the years of the Santos Adminstration. It gets a BIG FAT "F" FAILURE!!!!!!!!!!
Guest The Silent Majority
What about the poor conditions of the restrooms and the old fire truck that is all smashed up in the back of the maintainance building and the sloppy condition the building itself is in with equipment all over the place that shows no pride in town workers wanting to give the impression of being a first class operation. From what I can see it looks like something out of the old TV series "Sanford and Son". A JUNKYARD
Guest Guest
Please get a group of parents together and address these issues at a Town Council meeting. Maybe you could also find some volunteers willing to help clean it up.
Guest downwithfedres
The Oval was once the envy of surrounding towns. Now the new complex in Lyndhurst and the one being built in North Arlington are making those towns far more attractive than is Kearny to young families when considering a move. Still, you're far better than the joke that is Harrison,a town for which adult recreation is the gin mill.

A JUNKYARD As I was walking around the oval I noticed a landmark that has been there since I was 7 years old we would be done with our baseball games and run over to that water fountain just as you are coming into the Oval on the left. Why doesn't it work? With all the empty water bottles around the oval why not try to fix this landmark and make it a part of active history by letting future little leaguers have a place to have a drink after their games. Its sad to see this landmark serving no purpose in this complex. Try to fix it Mayor Santos!!!!!

First of all, do you want your kids drinking from a water fountain on which the ground is contaminated? Second of all the Mayor could not care less. When are you gonna realize that?
