If MLK was alive today he would be a Republican. He would look at what zerO has done to this once great nation and weep.

And of course he would then be called an Oreo by the hateful far left loons. Dr.King believed in self reliance, education and hard work. He would be appalled by the black socialist carpet bagger in the white house.

Amazing how you right-wing scumbags presume to speak for Dr. King now that he's dead. You called him a Communist when he was alive. If he was alive today, he would be a Republican like Arnold Schwarzenegger is a fairy princess.

Dr. King stood for Equal Justice under the law. If he were alive today he certainly would not be a Republican. The people who are destroying this country are small minded, uneducated fools like you.

MLK actually WAS A registered Republican..... Some of you douchenozzles on BOTH Sides should engage your brains before you type.

Are you freaking kidding? You should check your facts, because you just spread false information. And if you're going to make a claim, you should post links to support those claims, especially if you're going to call people names.

Dr. King did not register with either party, as he believed neutrality was important in his work on civil rights and other issues. However, he voted mainly for Democrats, including President Kennedy, who was called a socialist by many right wingers of his day. On pages 23-24 of his autobiography, he wrote that the Republican party pandered to racism at its 1964 national convention, and that he had urged everyone to vote against Goldwater, whose candidacy he considered "disastrous."

Apparently this lie about King being a Republican started with an RNC committeewoman from North Carolina. As usual, other right wingers like you believe it if it's what you want to hear and ignore it if it isn't. This explains why you vote the wrong way on nearly everything.

And the hell of it is, even after someone shows you the facts, in Dr. King's own words in this case, you still keep on repeating the right wing lies you're being fed by other right wingers. Stupid you can't help. But at least be honest.

This topic started because some Republican seeking a political office claimed that King would be a Republican if he was alive today. It's always easy to claim something like that, and of course no one can 100% disprove it.

So a Republican said it, and people who side with that Republican decide to repeat it. They didn't check to see whether it makes any sense. "Let's just say it. Maybe there'll be people uncritical enough to believe it."

It's pretty clear - beyond pretty clear, in fact - that King would not be a Republican if he was alive today. He thought the Republican party was too far to the right in his time. It's much further to the right today. The screaming Republicans do about poor people supposedly taking advantage of the system, while multi-billionaires rake in more wealth, would have infuriated King. When he was alive, he voted almost exclusively for Democrats. There's no reason to think that he would reverse his basic views if he was alive today. But because he can no longer speak, some people are low-class enough to put words in the mouths of the dead.

Those are facts. And facts are not what many people in the Republican party today seem to want.
