Last year zerO promised Detroit he would never let the city declare bankruptcy. Guess what?? Yesterday a federal judge granted

Detroit permission to move forward with the bankruptcy process. All city workers both active and retired will now have their contracts

for salary and pensions declared null and void. zerO gives billions in aid to countries around the world yet he's allowing American workers to lose everything they've worked for all their lives. Just another example of the multitudes of failures of this community

organizer pretending to be our president.

You idiot. Detroit went bankrupt because of the decline of the auto industry and bad city management.

Bingo ! Bad city management ! Democrats have been in charge in Detroit forever. Their incompetence and mismanagement forced the auto industry to relocate to southern states where they're now thriving. Detroits problems are a microcosm of what zerO is doing to America; 17 trillion in debt, half the country on welfare, food stamps and now this billion dollar fiasco zerOcare (which by '14 will implode) Bad city management !

Wrong again. The auto industry ran into problems for internal reasons: the same basic reason why all our manufacturing industries are in trouble, labor is cheaper overseas. Southern states have some auto plants now but that is because the workers were willing to work for lower wages and go without a union. Maybe you think we have a bright future in a Walmart world but the palpable reality to everyone in the middle class is that our relative living standard has been declining for decades. That's not Detroit's fault, or the fault of Democrats as compared to Republicans. It's the fault of people like who you refuse to recognize that we live in a global economy, which calls for a different approach to public policy. Of the two parties, the Democrats come closer to seeing the reality but neither of them is very good; both of them are bought off by the same forces that are robbing us of our future.

You "think" as though the country was divided into two teams. So naturally, your "thinking" is divisive and simplistic. Case in point: you opened the topic to blast President Obama (what a surprise); yet somehow you think that poor city management in Detroit makes a case against the President.

You should know better than go up againast 2smart4u. 2smart is exactly right. The state of Michigan and Detroit (controlled by Dems) raised taxes so much on the auto industry they

moved to places like S.C., Georgia and Tennessee. The auto unions (who were also controlled by Dems) were also at fault, demanding ever increasing salaries

and benefits. The analogy with zerO is correct, Detroit is a microcosm of what zerO is doing to the U.S.

You're as much a college instructor as you are smart. Unless maybe you serve as a crossing guard.

But congratulations. You saved enough money to buy a fourth sock puppet. Part of what you say is true but not the part about taxes. The unions got greedy, hastening the inevitable. But it has nothing to do with Obama. Obama saved the American auto industry when Republicans were willing to let it collapse.

Wasn't it the Republican Governor who usurped the votes of the people and appointed a City Manager to run Detroit? If he truly wanted to help fix the financial resources then why is the city financing the new Hockey Arena for a millionaire sports owner who could afford to build it himself. Detroit is no different than other big cities who are experiencing difficulties.

Detroit is "experiencing difficulties" ?? LOL Yeah, I'd say bankruptcy can be called experiencing difficulties. BTW, the arena is being built with private funding. The city is helping with the financing and is guaranteed a profit by sharing the gate.

Detroit was the hub of the world's auto industry. When foreign automakers began capturing the market, GM, Ford and Chrysler started having trouble. Two of them declared bankruptcy and accepted a federal bailout. Detroit has lost half its population in the past several decades, while other major cities also governed by Democrats have grown and done very well. Blaming Detroit's problems on Obama or on Democrats in general is ridiculous. But then look at the source. Anyone who calls himself "2smart4u" probably isn't.

They shouldn't be funding anything. If a millionaire wants a new stadium then he should be paying for it. Maryland built 2 stadiums and to pay for them they use the states lottery by selling tickets that are specifically marked for that purpose.

The city of Detroit will not see a profit for years if ever and the revenue generated by ticket sales is not going to be shared. The money generated will come from hotels and restaurant taxes.
