Guest *witness with a camera*
Sent ENFD to the roof to vent 35-40 mins into the fire. After 5 min of being on the roof the backdraft explodes. Shouldn't the signs of smoke have warned the command post of a possible backdraft. It sure shows on the video in front if building. Hey HARRISON FD. there's a power point on "THE ART OF READING SMOKE" use since u guys can't read the article. We also observed the firefighters on the roof jump off onto the rear roof after the explosion. ROUND OF APPLAUSE for Harrison not killing or injuring EN firefighters also. Atleast u keep those numbers low. Not like working fires. LMFAO.

If you watch the video more closely you will see that ENFD was on the roof for a very long period of time before any signs of the backdraft. The chief officer assigned to the roof should have known to bring equipment such as pike poles, axe, saw & a TIC to monitor conditions that surely would have shown indicators to open not only roof but to remove roof vents & vent top floor windows. The reason they jumped off roof was because they didn't have 2 means of egress & had no ladders to the roof as their aerial was about 1 mile away on the Davis St exposure. No gear No equipment & No brains! They should make a trip to the Wizard cause like yourself they live in LaLa land Edited March 23, 2013 by KOTW KOTW Note: KOTW has not confirmed the facts stated in this post. Guest Foundation Saver
The Fire Director should resign. The HFD is undermanned and can't put out a fire without help. Whoever was in command should have vented the roff right away and that would have protected against a back draft. Bring back TK. I saw him at the fire and he was helping out. The previous chief is the one who let the levels get to where they are now & had a vote of no confidence from the union members before he left. Someone was assigned to that exposure, ENFD,& they didn't do their job. Matter of fact they ***** ** ***** *** ****** back to the ****** *** ****. Edited March 24, 2013 by KOTW Content. First ladder on the scene and they couldn't see the fire building from where they were. No excuses for that. There was a request made for a means of egress to be put on the other side of the building, backdraft occurred before task was carried out. East Newark was originally venting the Davis St. apartments roof, it wasn't until much later they were asked to cut the roof, there is even video evidence of this. They went from the Davis St. roof to the 602 roof and started the ventilation process. They did have those tools on the Davis St., I've been told that those tools are now lost as they fell in the fire building because they were left on the roof after a speedy evacuation. Lets be real. The primary cause of this backdraft was the fact the windows were boarded up from the inside on the second floor. Fault falls with Fire Prevention/Building Departments on that one. Secondary cause was the fact no department put a ladder up to any window on the second floor to knock out some windows (they would have then noticed the plywood!) this fault falls with departments on both Frankie Rodgers and Davis St. Natural ventilation was started by East Newark on the building and they were in the progress of attempting to cut a hole when the backdraft happened. Or so I've been told at least. Has anyone asked them on the record about this? Also can someone explain to me why Jersey City FD is even going to the second floor when the building has been burning for like 30 plus minutes?! No one paid attention to the signs of the backdraft on the front either, in video you see smoke pushing threw the bricks. No one department is at fault for this backdraft. The simple fact is Harrison is hurting for man power and they need to hire. Unfortunately for Harrison, Kearny will now play the good guy and try to be big brother to Harrison only to have Chief Dylahan stab them in the back and get them dissolved one night while they are asleep. Keep calling them boys, hand them all your ammo! Also I can't find a picture of an East Newark Firefighter with no gear. I do find civilians getting in the way. East Newark should have removed them and when Harrison IC came over the should have also removed them. No one seemed to care. Heads should roll. Find the Harrison FF with no PPE!! Thats what these guys need to be doing... It's not the HFD fault for what's happened to this department it was years of mismanagement by the town and now they are suffering... Guest Don Corleone
The HFD is lost since the last Chief EVER retired to go on to his garbage checking duties. He was the only one close enough to the Mayor to cover-up repeated firemen follies over the years. How a few people haven't died because of the the Hudson County Fire Depts. over the last few years is a miracle.

Guest sneakers
Nothing but silence from the Mayor and Police Chief regarding the 25% increase in crime in Harrison. Why? In other Towns, the residents would be up in arms. the mayor likes to play with the hose, and blow the horn.
Guest trickshot
Crime is up ! And the Mayor and Council of the Town of Harrison ; answer is to promote officers and hire more firefighters for the Harrison Fire Dept. I think they have their priority mixed up. Instead addressing the needs of the community their playing politics . its about time , someone else gets whats going on jn harrison !phony jobs created for the connected ones. screwing good workers out of jobs, putting people on , who aren't qualified for jobs, than sending them to school to get qualifid ? hey mayor ? what kinda shit is this ? you're pathetic! the town is hurting for money becuse you , and your cronies have run it into the ground !what kinda shit is hirng back retires to created jobs?hey tell your boy people are talking about him watching T V in the senior center for hours instead oe doing some work at his phony job!!! you kniow....the greedy one with the big pension, and his wife has TWO jobs on the town
Guest Citizen
Mr. Mayor isn't it true by Federal Law Police Officers can work 171 hours in a 28 day period without paying overtime ? Then why if the Police Dept is complaining about being understaffed , and the crime rate . Why isn't this implement ?
Guest DUH?
That Harrison HS education never ceases to amaze me. "Citizen" should be forced to go into an academic labor camp. How much money would that save the taxpayers big guy? Why don't you object to the promotion of 4 firefighters when crime is up 25% in Harrison? You should concentrate on putting your finger on all of the dead wood jobs created by McDonough on behalf of the HCDO. You can start with the pisser of an Assistant Principal from JC (former Councilman) and then head to the sparsely used Senior Center dumping ground. Round out your trip with the Fire Department that had a few calls at once but didn't participate in any of them. The rest of the year will be one long vacation for the smoke eaters. Guest concern citizen
Mr. duh , your totally correct in reference to the Fire Dept , they sure don't need any promotions. They need to either merge with Kearny and bring back some professionalism thru them or Harrison needs to pay KFD that 2.5 million to supply their fire protection. There would be at least a 1.5 million dollar savings to the taxpayers . Unfortunately it appears this Adminstration is more concerned about there friends and not the Taxpayers . Let us get back to police officers working 171 hours without overtime . If the community is concern and the lack of manpower and the crime rate. Why would you not do this ? In addition why would 't the Adminstration do this if they were not more concerned with there friends and not the community .
