Guest Guest Posted December 10, 2010 Report Share Posted December 10, 2010 If you were not physically in the town of Harrison yesterday, you missed the truck driving around announcing that residents should boil all water before drinking (due to a water main break). The schools announced that the kids could not use the drinking fountains. Great. How would a resident who works outside of Harrison find out about this so that when they get home from work they don't drink the tainted water? Can we put into place some kind of reverse 911 system that calls/texts the residents who sign up for it to alert them to any potentially dangerous situations? The school system has an automated system which could/should be utilized but there needs to be something that also reaches the residents who don't have kids in school. Don't tell me Channel 35 because most people in town have sat. dishes and can't view Channel 35. The water situation yesterday wasn't the end of the world but we should use it as a motivator to get something up and running before there is a situation. A truck with a loudspeaker isn't adequate.
