KEVIN KERN of BROADWAY'S 'WICKED' COMES TO KEARNY

[Guest Teen Drama]

The Great White Way winds its way over to Kearny next weekend as Kevin Kern, who portrayed Fiyero in the Broadway smash Wicked is the featured guest as part of the Teen Drama Fall Winter Workshop Series on Saturday, October 16 from 3 - 5 p.m. Tuition for the program day, which is open to students age 13-18 who share a passion for theatre and performing arts, is $10 per class. "We're going to find out if these kids can 'defy gravity' in this special workshop dedicated to the Tony Award winning musical Wicked!" said Joseph Ferriero, Teen Drama director. The day will include vocal lessons, acting techniques and choreography all while enjoying this Broadway sensation!

Ferriero and his partner Michele Sarnoski have planned a season of special workshops as part of this innovative Saturday afternoon program targeting teenagers. Upcoming workshops, which are held at 131 Midland Avenue, Kearny, include Improv, A Tribute to Queen, Theatre Games and more. There will also be workshops dedicated to other Broadway successes such as Hairspray, Guys and Dolls, Next to Normal and RENT. The duo successfully launched the Teen Drama program with a production of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." There is no registration fee for the Workshop series; fee for each individual Workshop is $10.

Kevin Kern is recently off his West End London debut run in Hair . His Broadway credits include the original company of The Wedding Singer (Robbie Standby/Swing), Les Misérables (Marius). He was a swing in the pre-Broadway production of 9 to 5 the Musical. Off-Broadway shows include Next to Normal original company , Altar Boyz original company and Finian’s Rainbow at the Irish Repertory Theatre (Woody).
