The Netherlands almost 2 months ago offered to send over their "Super Scooper" to the gulf, a ship capable of sucking up huge quantities of oil. All zerO had to do was waive the "Jones Act", a maritime law that forbids non-U.S. flagged ships from operating in U.S. waters.

As of today the Jones Act has yet to be waived by zerO and the gulf residents are paying the price for zerO's failure bring this vital asset to their rescue.

Why, you may ask , has zerO refused to waive the Jones Act? It's because zerO is in bed with the unions and he's afraid of losing their support. So zerO

is sacrificing the gulf and it's residents rather than stand up to the unions that don't want foreign flagged vessels in U.S. waters.

BTW, this is the same reason he's not protecting our southwest borders, don't want to lost that hispanic vote.

How proud you Loonys must be to have a spineless socialist in the white house.

Update: The Super Scooper" has finally arrived in the gulf, exactly 64 days after the Dutch offered the ship free of charge to Obama. So much pressure was put on Obama to lift the Jones Act that he finally relented . It's just disgraceful behavior from Obama to have ignored the Dutch offer over the last 2 months.

"FactCheck.org, a nonprofit website operated by the University of Pennsylvania's Annenberg Public Policy Center, analyzed claims that failure to waive the Jones Act is blocking foreign-flagged vessels from assisting in the Gulf. It concluded last week that 'In reality, the Jones Act has yet to be an issue in the response efforts.'"

"The Deepwater Horizon response team reported in a news release June 15 that 15 foreign-flagged ships were participating in the oil spill cleanup, FactCheck.org said. 'None of them needed a waiver because the Jones Act does not apply,' it said."

Dummy, 15 ships out out over 200 worldwide that have offered their services is not something to brag about, unless you're a Loony.

If I could truly warn Republicans of one thing, it would be this: don't make the BP spill your Waterloo. There are already too many Republicans siding with and defending BP. Oil and drilling are your babies. Oil execs are your friends, your politicians, your former presidents. While our current president has left his mark on this mess, the greater Democratic party hasn't. It's unfortunate perhaps, but Obama won't be judged on his failures leading up to and during this crisis. Only the Democrats and Republicans running in mid-term elections will be. So, while Obama is on record as saying "we need to expand our offshore drilling efforts", most other Dems haven't said anything to that effect. When the voting records and quotes are dug through by campaign PR machines to make their ads in the coming months, the BP spill will be all over R hands.

I say this at a time when obviously everything is going right for Republican strategists. In fact, there is no strategy necessary for these guys. Trying to win off this BP issue is like doubling down on a 20.

Yeah, but the article specifically states that the Jones Act is a non-factor in all of this, which means your argument is completely flawed. Now, you don't think that these people have to be screened pretty heavily before we let them enter our gulf? Honestly, you think it's NOT an issue of national security for us to just let in as many ships as possible. You also seem to think the services they provide are free. Are they? Do you actually know what you're talking about or are you simply shouting off talking points. 23% of the ships working on the spill right now are "foreign flagged" according to Maritime Administrator David Matstuda. That's a lot of foreign help for a country that is extremely self-sufficient.

You're completely out of your mind on this issue. The entire Right is. The fact that you're trying to blame the White House solely is unbelievable. They reacted slowly, yes; but this wasn't a hurricane or a natural accident, it was criminal negligence on the part of a big oil company. And it seemed like something that a multi-billion dollar company would be able to put a lid on fast. However, BP was always more concerned with deep drilling technology and devoted no time or money to disaster recovery. BP is to blame and will be punished... to the dismay of a lot of Republican politicians I'm sure. At this point in the story, using this issue to attack the president is simply insane.

Anyone who's entertained by watching his neighbors look for parking spaces wouldn't know anything about the complex issues in the gulf.

The Kool-Aid is flowing today (I love the colorful text). Oh Loony One, if the zerO administration is doing such a great job in the gulf, why has it taken until day 75 (today) to get the "Whale" into the gulf when it was offered to zerO over 2 months ago??

You better check with Huffington to see how to spin that.

I don't know why. Do you? Can you prove it's because Barack Obama "refused help"? The onus is on you. Let's see the evidence, oh Linkless Wonder! Or are we just speculating?

Lets see.... Skimming Suspended completely for fleetwide Cg safety inspections, the "Whale" not allowed to filter and discharge because it only skims 99.7% of oil from the water instead of 99.85%. HUGELY inflated numbers of skimming boats and ships from EPA..Shall i go on?? or can we now add "Oil Spill Cleanup" to "Nuclear Power" and "Local Ordinances" on the "list of things KO doesnt know shit about"???

Friend, I do know what I'm talking about on this issue and have provided links to support my FACTUALLY BASED argument. All you're doing is confusingly repeating news clips with no references. Skimming was largely suspended because of an approaching hurricane... is that what you are referring to? Did Barack Obama have anything to do with that.. did he create the hurricane? The Whale is skimming right now. If you can provide a link explaining what you're talking about when you say "the Whale not allowed to filter and discharge because..." then I'll be happy to read it. Where is the proof of hugely inflated numbers reported by the EPA?

PS: I made a complete and honest concession on the nuclear power debate. Sorry that I can admit when I'm clueless on an issue and am spewing partisan bullshit. And as for local ordinances, my argument was solely based on the fact that I have NEVER IN MY LIFE heard of anybody getting a ticket for parking across their own driveway. That's why I never cared to look it up.

Subsequently found an article about what you're saying about the Whale. It appears that tests run by the US Coastguard to determine the A-Whales effectiveness were "inconclusive" due to "high seas." The EPA requires that a ship cannot discharge more than 15 parts per million of contaminants into the ocean, which may seems ironic given the clean-up the ship will be doing; however, ignoring environmental concerns at this point would be pretty ironic too. Also, this is protocol. Despite the fact that this is a huge disaster, why should the United States completely disregard safety checks on foreign ships? If you don't mind me saying, that would be a huge issue of national security. Thanks, though, for blaming Barack Obama for weekend delays caused primarily by a hurricane.

Yeah, its absolutely ridiculous to hold, personally responsible, the damage that a hurricane can do. Oh, wait. Well, never mind.

The truth is, though, it's not that George W. Bush and Barack Obama don't like black people; it's that neither of these men care about the poor and middle-class residents of a southern state.

". . . the poor and middle-class residents" of ANY state might be more appropriate. Politicians think they are above and beyond all of us who pay their salaries.

Come on, you can't blame a lack of response for 2 months entirely on zerO. zerO would have gotten involved a lot sooner if he hadn't had a lot of golf games and date nights already scheduled.

There are two major problems with your statement here:

1. Obama didn't take THAT long to respond to the situation in the Gulf. So instead of using a talking point that's readably available to you like "it took Obama over two weeks to respond to the situation in the Gulf," you exaggerate that claim to two months and pretty much lose any credibility that that claim could have had.

2. If you truly think it were dates--golf or other--that held up Obama's response time, then you are absolutely deluded. I've already stated why I think Obama waited. It's nothing personal really; it's just that what could he have even done? Was he going to put a lid on that thing right away? No. Does he give a F**K enough about regular people to comfort them or answer their questions? No. In reality, he probably dealt with other policy issues including immigration reform, jobs, foreign policy issues related to Israel, Pakistan and Afghanistan. I wish he had put the Gulf oil spill ahead of all those issues, but he's an idiot who lacks compassion. And well F**K, it was really was BP's problem anyway.

"What could he have even done"?? Well for starters he could have suspended the Jones Act and immediately accepted all the offers from countries around the world for their 200 skimmer ships. But the maritime unions in the U.S. opposed it and zerO caved to their pressure (after all, you can't piss off your support base) and refused to allow these ships into the gulf.

So what we have here is a spineless president who puts his re-election hopes ahead of the gulf residents who's very lives hang in the balance. Not only is zerO a socialist, he's a spineless socialist.

BTW, can anyone imagine Reagan (who fired all the Air Traffic Controllers and demanded the Russians tear down the Berlin Wall) shrinking from the maritime unions? Neither can I, I rest my case.
