Remember you can't count on Collins and Snowe- they vote with dems as much as r's. I'm still trying to figure what your big connection with Massacusetts is and why you have no suggestions for improving the Town of Kearny. Exactly why should Kearnyites be concerned with your pap about Mass. elections? What are you doing to better our town? Wait I figured it out. You DO have something in common with MASSachusetts. I guess with no comments on our town you must be quite satisfied with the local democratic leadership.

The Civil War had broken out. Abe had lost the battle of Bull Run. I think ZeroSmart posted his numerous rants on paper in Town Hall park. Let's flip that and flash forward 140 years: will Barack Obama's immage be on the $10 or $20 bill? (I say the 20.) As for coinage, there probably won't be pennies or nickels left, and the dime is too small, but maybe the quarter. You also can't add to the existing Mt. Rushmore, but there will probably be a Mt. Rushmore II with FDR, JFK, Obama and (I'll give you one) Reagan.

His far left socialist views are too deeply entrenched, therefore he's a one-timer. And I don't think he has a shot at a $20........I'm thinking maybe a $3 ?? However, Obama's vision won't happen. The loony left (Obama's group) is only a small minority of the population. None of which is Socialism because none of those proposals is ownership of the means of production. If banks were nationalized, that would be Socialism. If private health carriers were nationalized, that would be Socialism. Now as to your examples: "stimulus" is Keynsian Economics 101; you may not like it, but it's a broadly accepted government policy to grow the economy. It became accepted after the Great Depression. And, by the way, just on Friday we learned that the stimulus has resulted in 5.7% economic growth in the 2009 4th quarter. "buy-outs", if by that you mean TARP, then start with George W. Bush and his Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson (former Goldman Sachs president). To stop the financial meltdown, the Obama administration continued TARP. By the way, almost all the banks have RE-PAID their TARP money; AIG remains the biggest basket case. "ObamaCare" is far from Socialism. At its core, it's a public insurance OPTION and requiring most employers to insure their employees and/or requiring individuals to purchase health insurance. Right now, when the uninsured show up in the emergency room, WE ALL PAY for that. Health reform would reduce those "free riders" in the current system and would be a small step towards better management of costs in the health industry. "rationed health care and death panels" is unadulterated right-wing fear propaganda. Point to me exactly where in the Senate or Health bill there is any rationing or a death panel. I think by 2012, President Obama will sail into a second term. That's because most Americans, unlike you, don't buy into the right-wing agenda. Good for them. The definition is 'ownership and administration.' "Dictating rules"?? The banking industry has been heavily regulated since the the Great Depression! Those requirements need to be revisited in order to minimize the risk of financial meltdown. Both the left and right agree on that: Paul Volker's proposals (Fed Bank Chairman under Reagan) and Ben Bernanke's more modest approach (current Chairman originally appointed by George W. Bush) are probably the most thought out proposals. Absolutely, when the taxpayer bails out an industry, then that industry should undertake the necessary reforms to return to profitability. Without the auto industry bailout, we would now only have one domestic automaker. Is that what you would have preferred? As to Ford, you should do more research into where that "profit" came from: Right now, despite improvements, Ford’s auto business is still losing money — $1.4 billion before tax last year. Ford’s overall profit stemmed from debt restructuring and a resurgent finance arm... But investors are being optimistic. Ford’s liabilities total just over $52 billion, including debt, an underfunded pension plan and unfunded health care obligations.

Guest 2smart4u
After 8 years of the Bush presidency, mostly war years, Bush left with a 1.5 trillion deficit. The 2010 Obama budget of 1.3 trillion requires borrowing almost one trillion. Moody's announced today the U.S. is in danger of losing it's AAA bond rating because of Obama's spending binge. The interest alone on our debt is now 100 billion a month. Not to worry however, Obama announced a spending freeze NEXT YEAR. Also, Obama has announced another stimulus. The last one failed so he's doubling down. However this one won't be called a stimulus, they changed the name to something more palatable, it will be called a "job's bill". It shows what he thinks of the american public (change the name from stimulus to jobs and the public will love it). I never thought I would miss Bubba Clinton. Guest genius
Obamacare as you call it is far from done. Mass. is just a very small part of the country. Democrats still control the congress by a large margin and will keep the majority in November. Like it or not it's going to pass. No matter how the news reports go, if the job sector improves before Obamas term is over he will be re-elected. If it doesn't, he'll be out on his azz quicker than you can say George Jefferson. You obviously haven't been keeping up. Many dems are bailing from ObamaCare because of the threat of losing their jobs in Nov. They know if Coakley can lose in Mass., no one's job is safe. Another example is the second stimulus (now called the "jobs" bill), all the dems embraced the first one but many are now vowing to defeat Son of Stimulus. It's clear the annointed one's luster has worn off. You can't ignore all the broken campaign promises, the major mistake of wanting to hold terror trials in NY federal courts, the outright lies of "2,000,000 jobs saved" ( there's no formula for calculating such a statistic.) and the increase in earmarks (another broken promise). When your grandchildren are still paying off the stimulus, jobs and all the other pork-laden pet projects the community organizer is spending their money on and the kids ask you how he ever became president, be sure to tell them you voted for him.
