Either way the Recounts would not have mattered. a number of Newspapers, including those Bastions of Right-wing-ism such as the NY times, Washington Times, NY Daily News, and Miami Herald ALL did independant counts under FOIA..ALL of those counts showed a clear Bush win. What the SCOTUS decision did was put a halt to the Delaying tactics that were on the verge of completely screwing up the transition. Say what you want about the new candidate from Conneticut..at least SHE didnt recieve a "Special" mortgage deal from Countrywide under somewhat smelly circumstances considering within a year the Housing market was tanking.

There was no completed recount. What the Supreme Court decision did was override a State election (and a Florida Supreme Court decision) based on the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment. I guess States' rights aren't so important when they don't give conservatives the results they want.

And since you're relying on the New York Times, then why not cite the following: The New York Times did its own analysis of how mistaken overvotes might have been caused by confusing ballot designs. It found that the butterfly ballot in heavily Democratic Palm Beach County may have cost Gore a net 6286 votes, and the two page ballot in similarly Democratic Duval County may have cost him a net 1999 votes, each of which would have made the difference by itself.

Bottom line, they should have recounted every vote. That's what democracy means.

BTW, Dodd is no longer the candidate. It's Blumenthal versus the lady from World Wrestling Entertainment. No one is willing to defend Ms. McMahon's candidacy.... I wonder why.....

Pay attention and I'll teach you something. Global temperatures have always varied year to year. As an example, of the ten hottest Julys on record, #5 was 1954, #7 was 1932 and #9 was 1952. Clearly, in 1932, greenhouse gases were a small fraction of what they are today so it should be obvious they didn't play a role in global temperatures almost 80 years ago.
