I hear the town is going to hire additional fireman (not cops) and secretaries to deal with the problems the stadium will cause. What the hell does hiring fireman and secretaries have to do with public safety when the entire police force per 8 hour shift is three, yes three, cops in broken down four year old cars? Go figure, nepotism and cronyism at Hudson Countys best!

Hopefully Kearny will have the balls to tell McMuffin to piss off when they're screaming for help, or better yet, submit a bill EVERy time they call for assistance for a Game.

iF YOU GUYS CAME TO WORK INSTEAD OF CALLING IN SICK, THERE WOULD BE ENOUGH COPS.E.RUTHERFORD HAS GIANTS STADIUM AND THE NETS ARENA AND THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO INCREASE THEIR POLICE FORCE. THAT'S WHAT SECURITY GUARDS ARE FOR. AS FAR AS TRAFFIC IS CONCERNED, YOU COULD USE CLASS 2 OFFICERS TO DIRECT TRAFFIC. THE SAME PBA GUYS DO ALL THE CRYING, MEANWHILE OTHER OFFICERS ARE WORKING AND MAKING A BUNDLE ON OT. COME TO WORK PBA PREZ. AND YOU WILL REAP THE BENEFITS.

I guess you don't follow the news very much, the Borough of East Rutherford Police Department has grown significantly over the past two years, even in a depression. ERPD will be tasked with providing security for the "Zanadu" fiasco should it ever open. As for Giants Stadium and the Arena both are owned and operated by the State of New Jersey, therefore the New Jersey Stat Police are the only police agency doing security along with the Event Staff Security.

You sound like the typical "blow hard" that post all the hatred on this site about the Police and fire Depts, get a life asshole!

Just an FYI, Giants stadium is a state run facility which means state police are always on site.

Yes you are correct Giants stadium is owned by the state (that is all taxpayers of the state), therefore State police are present. Red Bull stadium LAND is owned by Harrison taxpayers so guess who will be responsible for the security and crowd control? HARRISON

Remember, Harrison is only a mile square. I'm sure the County and State will help during events, as Rodgers Blvd. is a county road and designated as State Highway 17. Probably Amtrack and PATH (PA) police will be there also to watch the game or event and help. It seems there may be more than enough, someone just has to coordinate them.

The Harrison Police can't even handle FER and Harrison or teenage girls fighting without getting pummeled! What makes anyone in the right mind think that they would be trusted to do anything at the new stadium? They cat fight amongst each other (behind the back, of course) and are run by children. All who are trying to get involved with the stadium should just give it up, It's way out of your league. Stick to your usual unprofessional masquerade and start acting like men for &^%$#@ sake! Does The Red Bulls have cheerleaders? Try that option! You can all put on cute little Red Bull outfits, meet at Vinnies and go down and cheer the team into the stadium. That's the only way you'll ever get near the place! Grow a set will ya's.

Nice post Chief, but your town of Lyndhurst, with a population of 19,500 has 50 officers and N. Arlington with a population of 14,500 has 31 officers. Red Bull Stadium will have about 12 homes games, and security inside should be provided by Red Bull. Traffic will be a nightmare on game day because of inadequate roads. I'd like to see your traffic plan and emergency response plan for any disorders at the stadium. Mutual aid is a great thing. No one has the resources they need. Harrison is on welfare, and you have to plan for all contingencies with the resources you have.

There was a study done when the stadium was in the planning stages and it was reported the stadium will have no impact on traffic.

Who did the traffic study? I guess that person planned on everyone walking to the Red Bull Syadium,

The team averages about 16,000 per game. How many parking spaces are planned for the stadium?

Will tail gating and drinking in the parking lots be allowed? How many Harrison Officers will be assigned to traffic posts and who will pay for this overtime? Did anyone do a study to determine if any disturbances or arrests were made when the Red Bull played in Giants Stadium? Does Harrison still have a fully trained emergency response team? Is there a mutual aid plan for use in case of a major disturbance at the Stadium.

These are all questions that need to be answers before a plan is put into effect. I'm sure our esteemed police chairman has reviewed all contingencies and will ok any police overtime that will be needed.

Advance training of all Officers involved in stadium security must be done before the first game.

"Big Chief Red Bull" will go into his F.B.I. Handbook and come up with a plan. Everyone will be impressed with his talk and when he fails miserably, it will just be ignored. This is what is expected from him. McDumbell has his "Puppet"! Chief Red Bull can't use the bathroom without the Mayors permission. Do you really expect this "Puppet Regime" (that was purposely installed by Mayor McDumbell) to come up with a plan for the Stadium? A real man would be trusted! This guy is only looked at as the inexperienced Chief that he really is. Why do you think that they "Put" him in this spot anyway? They knew a pushover when they saw it.

I think the Chief is doing an outstanding job with the resources that he has. No matter how he was chosen, he still has reduced the crime rate to 310, the lowest in the last 20 years. He has asked for more men, but the amount of manpower is determined by the appropriate authority, which is Mayor McDonough. The unlimited sick leave policy, which the PBA negotiated with the Town, has been a major cause of low manpower and increased overtime. Steady shifts, instead of lowering sick time, has increased the number of sick days because of the forementioned sick leave policy. The new contract calls for a notification of 21 days if a schedule change is implemented. They should go back to 15 sick days per year. They should also increase the force to the 56 Officer Table of Organization that was put in place before the Chief was appointed. That coupled with civilian dispatchers and parking enforcement officers brings the amount of police employees over the amount in 1998.

He has reduced the crime rate all by himself? Well in a way you are absolutely correct. He reports all the crimes to the state. Everything that comes in goes to him and the downgrading begins. It's the oldest Chiefs trick in the book. Do you actually think that any Chief is going to admit an increase in crime? One more thing, if the crime rate is at the lowest point in 20 years, then why are they always whining to add more men or women? Lowering crime rate numbers is all part of the game plan, has been since the beginning of police work. Thanks for trying Dep.

Advance training of all Officers involved in stadium security must be done before the first game.

1. The Red Bull wish they were getting 16,000 fans per game. Although they announce a higher attendance, many seats are complimentary and people do not attend the games. On site reports indicate they have four to 10 thousand in attendance.

2. Stadium security should be the responsibility of the Red Bulls, not the HAD

3. At Giant Stadium, the State Police are responsible for security on the field. Security in the stands is the responsibility of the team's private security people. The salaries for the State Police are reimbursed by the Giants.

4. Field security and traffic duty can be met with off duty officers, paid by the Red Bulls.

5. The cost of any on duty officers should be reimbursed by the Red Bulls. Just like the State Police salaries are reimbursed by the Giants.

6, None of the above will happen if the Red Bulls negotiate with the plumber, the janitor, the Passaic Valley people, the teacher, or the bagman. If they make the deal with the Red Bulls, over a glass of Red Bull, and the taxpayers will foot the Bull, I mean bill.

Anyone who thinks the crime rate is down should walk through the Gardens and Franklin Ave. after dark.

WHAT A TERRIBLE ACCUSATION TO MAKE REGARDING THE LOWERING OF THE CRIME RATE. IF YOU THINK THAT THIS IS TRUE THEN YOU SHOULD MAKE A COMPLAINT TO THE NJ STATE POLICE WHO MONITOR AND COLLECT THE UNIFORM CRIME REPORT. NO CHIEF WOULD JEOPARDIZE HIS POSITION BY MANIPULATING THE CRIME REPORTS.

I was at the Giants game this past Sunday Night. I had never noticed anything other then State Police there before. State Police were still present although I did notice an East Ruther Police Car in one of the lots on Duty. Just wanted to point that out, who was paying for it, i'm not sure.
